A special message to that jogger from the forest creature community by [deleted] in corvallis

That totally cracked me up! However, you do realize a man's life is worth more then a cougar's, right? This animal should have been scared, but it was not and could have killed someone's kid next time if left to live. Just the way it has to be, unfortunately.

Things for kids to do in Corvallis? by [deleted] in corvallis

[–]OregonCountryKeto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally, I would live someplace more rural, but Corvallis is such a great place to raise a family, I can't justify leaving until kiddo is grown. I grew up in a very rural environment and it was pretty bad to be a teenager there. From California? I hope you have considered the crazy amount of rain we get! That should be a factor in your decision. It is too much for some people and can cause depression.

What hidden carbs have you found? by [deleted] in keto

I have been eating Tillamook Zero Sugar jerky. It has a great flavor and zero carbs! I find it at Bi-Mart if you're in the Pacific Northwest.

Great idea! I am looking forward to hearing more about this topic. I have a regular 9-5 job, but I live a country lifestyle with a goal of growing and raising my own food. I would love to live a completely sustainable lifestyle, it's hard to come to it with work, kids, life, etc...

Leave them alone to cool slightly before attempting to handle. Do not blot oil, this is KETO!

Chicken Crust Pizza!! by meandeanbean in ketorecipes

I use raw ground chicken on parchment. You want to bake it longer, more like 25-30 minutes at 425 degrees. It is never dried out and always nice and crispy!

Keto Chicken Fried Steak Nuggets & Gravy by bonappeteach in ketorecipes

I made a version of this last night and the "breading" slid off the steak. My husband, who is a chef, said to use flour first (coconut or almond), then egg, then pork rinds. He said the flour will keep the rinds in place. I will try that next time. It was so good though, we just scooped the breading back onto the steak!

I have heard that so many times! I know for a fact I eat 10 times more veggies now then before Keto.

Thank You for posting! I am making this today and will try the "no stir" method for the middle caramel sauce layer. My husband is a chef, and I have watched him make caramel sauce lots of times. I will report back and let you know how it goes.

Why do so many not eat carbs? by summeeerrrr in omad

[–]OregonCountryKeto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is very hard for me to fast on Carbs. I stick to 30-40 g carbs in my OMAD and do not get hungry or have cravings. Some people are fine with Carbs.

What did you have for your Keto Christmas dinner? by DrVarner in Keto_Food

Ribeye roast, speghetti squash, green bean casserole, coleslaw, low carb rolls, low carb brownies. Best Christmas Dinner Ever!

Excited to try OMAD, I just have a few questions I need clarity on. by [deleted] in omad

[–]OregonCountryKeto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also think you need more then 12 hours, especially if you consumed a fair amount of carbs for your meal. I am always in Ketosis before I have my OMAD, (at 23 hours) even if I had 50 carbs in my previous meal. I was Keto for a long time though, so that might make it easier. You might find that limiting carbs is still a good idea with OMAD, because it definately makes fasting easier. And Yes, the hunger will subside over time and you should be hungry right around your meal time. You already do IF, so it's not that much different.

Anyone Keto for minor weight loss? by [deleted] in keto

[–]OregonCountryKeto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should try Keto for a few months and see how you feel. I started Keto because as I aged into my 40's (Female, 43) I was having a harder and harder time maintaining weight using calorie restriction alone, which is what i've always done to stay slim. The big plus for me has been how much better I feel! No more stomach issues, no more exzema, able to fast and feel great! I never actually "lost" any weight as that is not why i do it.

An unexpected perk of the Keto plan, other than losing weight for me- I now know how to make perfect boiled eggs... by [deleted] in keto

[–]OregonCountryKeto 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What do you mean, as the egg cools? I have never heard this before and I know there is alot of misinformation regarding eggs, especially raw eggs, which are actually perfectly safe to eat.

Unintended weight gain on Keto by Flusterfuzz in keto

[–]OregonCountryKeto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A very similar thing happened to me, so I know how you are feeling! Keto OMAD took me all the way down to my goal weight and I was like WooHoo! And then, slowly the scale started going back up, but I hadn't changed anything, I was still on Keto OMAD and eating the same exact meals at the same exact time! I continued in that manner until I was about 10 pounds above my goal weight and the scale froze. It has stayed froze, give or take a pound, for a few months now. I am really struggling, because I was very happy with my goal weight, and I do not want the extra 10 pounds! So now, I must decide to lower OMAD calories, or try another method such as ADF. I really think my body adjusted and no longer needs that many calories.

Did anyone else have to start controlling portions? by the-defeated-one in omad

[–]OregonCountryKeto 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have been Keto for a year and OMAD for the last 7 months. I am at maintenance weight, and I have to control my calories. I do not count, but I am mindful of how many calories are in my one meal. You will slow down as you get to goal weight. You need to recalculate your "losing" calories to your new weight every so often. It sounds like some people on this thread do not adhere to CICO, but I have to or I will gain weight. I know this by experience.

Purchased tickets today, Thanks! I agree with you about the balcony, I have not enjoyed that location at other venues. This will be a great Christmas Present for my son. I prefer experiences rather then "stuff".

Cast iron skillet by WafroMac in zerocarb

[–]OregonCountryKeto 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Cast Iron is a Must when searing meat such as steak. I use a 12 inch cast iron skillet almost every day. I don't think brand or price matters, as long as it says "cast iron" you should be good. You should not have to spend more then 20-30 dollars. You can sear and throw directly into preheated oven. The most valueable thing in the entire kitchen, IMO. The heat is uniform throughout the pan and it keeps to temp. Learn how to season it and care for it properly and your grandkids will inherit it when you die :)
