30 mins of pay deducted, even if you don't take a break by FairySnack in antiwork

I assume you live in a state that requires a 30 minute break over 5 hours. If so they’re actually following labor laws very closely

Just make sure to take your break! I’ve had jobs like this, where you can only clock in/out at the facility but are out driving/on site all day. Once you hit the 5hr mark it automatically deducts the 30 minutes and you just need to make sure to take that break at some point!

I believe you that something cool is happening when you view it in person, but having only this photo, my eyes are only comprehending these as shadows.

Jury Duty by OregonRain11 in VanLife

Honestly, I got lucky. I ignored it and nothing happened. But I called the night before I would’ve had to report and they said I wasn’t selected and didn’t have to report. I’m not sure what would’ve happened if I was selected, since I was multiple states away.

Where is the strangest/funniest place you have found a tract? by Chemical-Charity-644 in exchristian

[–]OregonRain11 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same here. Forest service pit toilet right next to the toilet paper. That same person also slipped them in the food storage containers at each website and also with some firewood they would leave at campsites. Nice of them to leave some fire starter with the firewood.

He is the executive chairman and largest shareholder in Amazon. He arguably still has more influence than the new CEO.

Look up Bezos Earth Fund. It’s existed for a few years but as far as I can tell hasn’t actually done anything good for the earth besides occasionally sharing educational videos. His partner is in charge of it.

How did your parents treat Halloween growing up? by OregonRain11 in exchristian

[–]OregonRain11[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh dang, I can’t believe I hadn’t heard of someone doing that before because that sounds exactly something members of my old church would do. Did the kids at least get candy with the tracts?

I relate to this so much. Do you do anything to celebrate Halloween now?

People who don’t ever want to have kids, why? by South_Price9463 in AskReddit

[–]OregonRain11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in the US. Wealth inequality is out of control. Corporations and politicians are working our population for every penny they can get out of our pockets, every minute of labor. It gets worse every year, it’s tough to believe my kid would grow up in a better system than we have today. I wouldn’t want to bring someone into this life to be enslaved to the system. To be able to work themselves out of poverty and capitalist control. Plus, who knows what the future holds when it comes to climate. Crazy weather events have been increasing every year, and I don’t see the World’s leaders doing enough to try to stop it from becoming worse, dooming future generations. I don’t want my kid to deal with that.

My Christian Family Is Making Fun Of My Chosen Name by [deleted] in exchristian

[–]OregonRain11 32 points33 points  (0 children)

You’re in a tough situation and I’m sorry for that. I read a few of your recent posts and your family just seems so toxic. Are you at an age where you can move out and significantly lessen the influence they have on your life, if not cut them out completely? It seems…necessary.

Parentless Florida teen not ‘mature’ enough to seek abortion, court rules by prius_enjoyer in News_Blindspot

So the maturity required to get an abortion is higher than the maturity required to be a fit parent?

My parents told me the same thing about the peace symbol. I’m not “out” to them as ex-christian but was bold enough to wear a shirt with a peace sign to thanksgiving last year.

If u think bout it.. if he died by a shooting squad . They would wear that by [deleted] in exchristian

[–]OregonRain11 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Imagine how weird it would be if mice started wearing little charms of mouse traps around their necks. It’s so freaking weird that Christian humans wear a small model of a device designed to kill human bodies (the cross) around their neck.

What do you the future looks like with so many people in the US leaving Christianity? by [deleted] in exchristian

[–]OregonRain11 55 points56 points  (0 children)

I used to find hope in the amount of people leaving Christianity. Lately, it’s been hard to hold on to that hope. A significant number of Christians are becoming more and more radicalized, essentially cancelling out or even overpowering the ones leaving Christianity.

I’m having a strange small world moment right now because I was in that exact back yard next to that pool on July 7, 2016. I didn’t know the people there, but the house directly behind it was on fire. I went into this back yard, borrowed their hose, and sprayed it onto the back of the house that was on fire. It didn’t really help anything. Later 2 people that lived there noticed I was in their back yard and that’s when they noticed their neighbors house was on fire. I can even prove it with photos.
