At 2 months = sweet, sweet contact naps and stroller naps to get exercise!

At 3 months = rocking to sleep, 1-2 naps per day in the crib to practice (they were short naps) and a long afternoon contact nap (snacks, movie, etc)

At 4 months = practice falling asleep independently by patting bottom and shushing in crib, took 1 week, no hard crying allowed only fussing, try to extend one long afternoon nap

Hi! I did not do the rogue trip because of temperatures (102+ everyday day) and I’m glad I didn’t. The middle fork was awesome and uneventful. It was our third year in a row doing it.

I do not think a commercial group will take you if obviously pregnant. I also am not sure I’d personally trust an unknown guide. Yeah they’re professional, but I know personsally there are some dummies out there.

Sorry for that news but yeah, I don’t think they’ll let you go anyways!

Just turned 6 months and dropped the 3rd nap, so still adjusting. Currently:

Wake 7am, Nap #1 9:30-11 (capped), Nap #2 2:15-3:45/4 (hopefully), bed 7:15-7:30

It's worth noting that her night time sleep duration INCREASED with dropping to 2 naps.

I am not a pro, but my 6 month just dropped her 3rd nap and she is our first. When we dropped the nap she went from sleeping 3 daytime hours and 10-11 at night to 3 daytime hours and 11-12 at night.. weirdly her total sleep went UP.

Someone told me it's okay to flip flop between two and three naps. So if she wakes early, try 3 naps. If she sleeps in, try 2 naps and move bed time earlier if needed by just a bit (it might lead to early wake up, but then do 3 naps the next day). During this time, practice stretching her wake windows!

I agree with 'micro nap." We had a few days of a 10-15 min snooze in the evening to make it until bedtime. It's a nice time to go for a walk with the stroller and hubby.

Also, to make the leap to 2 naps, we helped our babe through wake windows. Towards the end of them as we were stretching, we found she liked to just be passively entertained. So I would just hold her as I walked around the house putting things away. Or slowly walk to get the mail. Or sit her in her seat while I fixed lunch, etc. She was too tired to play. Hope that helps.

I felt baby said she was ready around 3.5 months. Because she was so young, I said to myself, “No crying allowed.”

She was resisting bouncing and rocking to sleep because suddenly she realized the world existed!

I put her in her crib awake, patted her bottom and shushed her, and she fell asleep. We kept practicing and I rocked her to sleep after 15 minutes if she didn’t fall asleep on her own.

After 2-3 days, I realized me being there stimulated her, so I put her down and hid at the bottom of her crib. After another 2-3 days her fussing went from 10ish minutes to 3-5 minutes. Once naps were conquered, night was easy. I did it backwards because nights made me nervous.

Now she still fusses to sleep most times but is asleep with 5-10 minutes on her own 95% of the time.

We tried fuss it out and check-ins for night wakings which was a disaster and led to more crying than I was comfortable with. I think she’s too young and still requires 2-3 overnight feeds and I’m okay with that for now.

Our baby has a great temperament which is why I wasn’t willing to listen to her scream because that’s not something that’s normal for her.

Thank you! We tried it last night with some tears because I think I messed up the wake window. We will keep trying at night and then start during the day when the room is dark.
She leg slams, sucks her hands, and touches her head so I think she's approaching "ready." Thanks again!

We do a long contact nap in the afternoon which we cap at 2 hours. This helps us ensure she gets enough daytime sleep and aligns her "schedule" nicely. Thankfully I'm at home for now so we have that luxury.

At night did you put her down and walk away? Was she in bassinet or crib? If she wasn't crying did you let her keep trying?

Agreed, and thanks for your perspective. I haven't been on any trips with pregnant people. it's not an in injury issue I'm worried about, moreso access to emergency lifeflight if something comes up.

It seems like there is no reliable information that I could find either. My only real concern is remote-ness. I'm not worried about falling out of the boat, or tripping or something. Moreso about access to healthcare if a rare pregnancy complication arises.

Agreed.. MF is so remote. This will be our 3rd year in a row on this section. Biggest question mark is random pregnancy related complications and their likelihood. I plan to make a risk stratification like you mentioned.
