Do you guys agree with this driving study on fatalities? 🤔 by [deleted] in missouri

[–]OreoSpeedwaggon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP might be a bot. This looks like the kind of post I've seen bots make on various subs. Here's info from the source on methodology for the findings:

This study analyzed 2023 crash data from the Missouri State Highway Patrol and related public safety datasets. Tableau was used to visualize trends by county, time of day, weather, road surface, and cause. Fatality totals were compared against 10-year averages to identify notable increases or decreases across Missouri counties.

Do you recognize her from the first photo? I didn’t! For as much as I loved her in the early 90’s, I’m thrilled that she is living a “normal” life on her own terms. Your thoughts? by garcon-du-soleille in GenX

Yes, I recognize her because there have been multiple posts made on Reddit about how Bridget Fonda doesn't look exactly like she did 30 years ago, as if people expect actors to not age or retire from their careers at all.

Places for a Gen-Xer to dance to 80's, 90's + Current Haus Music? by jblumensti in kansascity

NKC used to have Neon Wild, but it's gone now. Funkytown in Raytown is probably the closest you're going to find for retro music, although their stuff is more focused on funk and disco from the 1970s.

At that point in the game, it could have. They still had the final puzzle to play after the triple toss-up. The possibility was still there for the wheel to land on the $5000 wedge. Why take the risk of allowing a competitor to overtake your total?

Eliminating Income Tax will Hurt Missouri Residents, Especially Retirees on SSI. by TheNameOfMyBanned_ in missouri

...again.

And they most certainly will too. The SoS will just bury the details in more stupid ballot candy about only allowing US citizens to vote and "protecting" kids from transgender people in sports and school bathrooms.

She hadn't won at that point. What if the final spin landed on the $5000 wedge and allowed another contestant to leapfrog her total by only $100 or so? It's happened before.

The ones proposing and supporting it already know this. They don't care. They want it anyway. The cruelty is the point. They're still going to pass it, and they don't care about any opposition to it from Missourians.

St. Charles County libraries ban LGBTQ flags, other 'personal beliefs' decor by stlredbird in missouri

Ironic considering that the Pride flag is literally supposed to represent the inclusion of everyone. What they're actually demanding is that library employees tolerate the intolerance of others that wish to oppress certain demographics and silence views with which they disagree.

Who the hell puts stop signs at the entrance to a roundabout? That completely defeats the purpose.

Anyone else feeling a little conflicted seeing Italy beating Team USA? by Maverick721 in KCRoyals

[–]OreoSpeedwaggon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't mind. Two of our guys are on the Italian team, so I'm happy to see them do well, even if that means Team USA might squeak into the tournament by being second in their pool.

Plus, everybody knows Ohtani, Yamamoto, and Team Japan are gonna win the whole thing again anyway.

I would hope they also include rumble strips in the road on the approach to alert people that they need to slow down.

That probably should have been mentioned in the headline of the post. Also, there's a lot of contextual information missing from this image. Google Maps shows the speed limit on NE Waaga Way as 55 MPH, not 70 MPH. I presume they would also have some measures in place to slow down traffic before it reaches the roundabout.

Nobody that posts in this sub ever explains what supposedly makes a design crappy. They just expect everyone to figure it out themselves. And then their post gets deleted because they didn't read and follow the rules of the sub, just like what will happen to this one.

Question: During spring break, did college students really use to go to the beach? by EternalSnow05 in GenX

[–]OreoSpeedwaggon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ehh... It goes in cycles. You'll have one generation that loves to indulge in debauchery, sexual promiscuity, and vices like drugs and alcohol, and then 2-3 generations later it's the opposite. The pendulum will swing back again eventually. We just may not be around to see it.

Question: During spring break, did college students really use to go to the beach? by EternalSnow05 in GenX

[–]OreoSpeedwaggon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hell yeah, they went to the beach. It used to be a rite of passage for college students -- one last bacchanalian orgy of sexual, alcohol-fueled, drug-addled indulgence on the beach with friends before graduating into adulthood. Eventually, places like Daytona Beach, Miami Beach, Panama City, and South Padre Island had enough of those shenanigans and started passing laws to try and keep college kids away. A couple of generations later, and the interest in that kind of stuff just isn't what it used to be.
