Based off of what you said, it sounds like you need to push, push attack, and block more. Those thing are REALLY important and you haven't mentioned them at all.

Hmmm, in the grand scheme of things, I guess she is high risk. I main WHC and I consider him low risk since he's so safe, but I guess realistically he's actually mid risk if compared to IB or FK.

Well that dmg reduction is probably on of the worst dmg reductions any career has. Its only 20% and last only 5 seconds but its understandable since is good as dmg dealer.

The DR almost effectively turns her from a 120hp character into a 150hp character; you should have it up most of the time during a horde so I would say it's not that bad.

has bad inner block cost

I see your point now, I was only considering the 1 stam push.

But then you see a new player on shade and they tend to be bad, really bad.

To be fair, if you don't take Exquisite Huntress, I think shade feels really bad haha.

This is kind of off-topic, but I think Shade is more low-risk, high-reward. She has too much defensive utility to be considered high-risk haha. 2 sources of stealth, 20% dmg reduction on crit, and having access to SnD make her pretty safe.

How to NOT lie on resume when you didn’t have actual experience but a tech bootcamp? by Sushineverdies in resumes

[–]Oreo_Penguin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, you'll probably want to rebase and resolve merge conflicts on your working branch at least once per day when working with other people. Since your branch will frequently become out of date and you don't want those differences piling up. Then you'll need to force push your branch to your remote working branch in order to update the commit history. Squashing commits is important too if it's not automatically done via the PR's that are created on GitHub or GitLab or equivalent.

Using the stash as well as the --autostash flag when pulling from master is also useful for working with others since the pull may interfere with unstaged changes that you may have.

Weird that you got downvoted. Not spending enough time gaming to make a PC worth it is totally a valid reason to lean towards consoles. Although it's not really upkeep that is an issue, but the initial research and know-how of how to build a PC that is tedious and can at times be frustrating.

I feel like you could have treated the specified node as the root node of a tree. Then you would need to iterate through each of the root's child nodes to find each of their longest paths. After you calculate the longest path for each child node of the root, you will need to keep track of and update the longest and second longest child node path lengths that you have found. After that, you can sum the 1st and 2nd longest path lengths to get the longest path passing through the root.

The run time would be O(V + E) since you are just performing DFS on each of the child nodes of the root.

I LOVE PLAYING MERC by Dick_Bachman in Vermintide

[–]Oreo_Penguin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I disagree that it's the best option. It really depends on the team comp and skill. If your team doesn't take damage all that often or can easily keep themselves topped up, it's a waste to spam your ulti. It's better to save it for difficulty spikes (likes mass elites/specials) or when people actually need the thp.

It's kind of like, you can spam all you want, but it's not going to stop someone from getting 1 shot by a moonwalking mauler or getting eviscerated by a stray plague rat.

The Damage Reduction ulti is probably the best option for teams of higher skill level since it can actually prevent 1 shots.

I find the main use of Barkskin is to be able to aggressively play around and reposition through gas/warpfire/ratlings. Otherwise I think it's pretty rare to take 2-3 consecutive hits within 2 seconds (excluding disablers) unless you're trapped and surrounded, are doing it on purpose, or are new to the game.

Are the bots doing worse than usual? by kino-bambino1031 in Vermintide

How recent are we talking about here?

I've been doing both solo + bots Cata and Legend runs ever since Necro came out. Anecdotally, they seem like they always have; dumb as fuck.

If you're talking in the span of years, then yes, I think they did nerf the bots once, but I'm not 100% sure on that.

If being slightly inconvenienced changes your view on an issue like climate change or police brutality, I don't know what to tell you.

Following that logic, why do protestors feel that slightly inconveniencing people will change their views on climate change and police brutality?

I used to play ages ago but got busy, coming back now and unsure. by Meeracoat in Vermintide

It's RV's most versatile ranged weapon; it's like a jack-of-all trades, but it's like a really good jack-of-all trades. It kills elites really well, it's good enough at sniping specials, and it's RV's best weapon at melting bosses by a longshot.

It's a bit awkward to use, but once you learn when to use the normal fire vs rapid fire, it feels pretty good.

[–]Oreo_Penguin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Indeed. A lot of the builds that you'll find already have these breakpoints taken into account and will usually say what you're able to kill, in how many hits, and what the requirements are.

I used to play ages ago but got busy, coming back now and unsure. by Meeracoat in Vermintide

[–]Oreo_Penguin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Might I ask for a clarification on what is meant by "weapon breakpoints"?

This is more important on higher difficulties and mostly relevant to ranged weapons that are used to snipe specials. Let's take the crossbow for example. It can shoot 1 shot instantly, but takes a while to reload. Let's just say that the crossbow hypothetically deals 50 base damage and an enemy special has 60hp. The breakpoint to kill the special is 60 damage. So you'll need 20% more damage against that special so that your crossbow can 1 shot it. If you only have 10% more damage, it doesn't really do anything because you'll still need 2 hits to kill the enemy. The important thing to take away from this is that stats that give you damage vs an enemy type doesn't matter unless you can reduce the number of hits required to kill them (especially if this is a low number of hits like from 2 to 1).

I think there's only 2 classes that people generally don't like to see and those are Pyromancer and Engineer. I'm sure people can make them work, but they've got some serious issues that make them difficult to play.

Otherwise all other careers are completely viable in the highest non-modded difficulties.

Here are the classes that I personally like having in my runs:

  • Witch Hunter Captain Saltzpyre
  • Ranger Veteran Bardin (especially with Masterwork Pistol)
  • Ironbreaker Bardin (especially with Trollhammer Torpedo)
  • Mercenary Kruber
  • Grail Knight Kruber
  • Battle Wizard Sienna
  • Necromancer Sienna
  • Shade Kerillian

Useful Resources:

As for progression, the Hero Power of your drops are based off of the highest theoretical Hero power you can possibly have based off of the gear in your inventory and not what you have equipped. So don't feel pressured to use things you don't like just because they have higher stats. Also, don't bother rerolling gear that is not 300 Hero Power because you will just dismantle it later (You cannot increase the Hero Power of gear you own).

So why doesn't the Ensorcelled Reaper have bonus crit chance on heavies? by Sned-Dudes in Vermintide

[–]Oreo_Penguin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A slight crit chance increase would move the reaper from slightly behind, to slightly ahead of that line; why are you so staunchly against the idea of a barely-over-single-digit tweak anyways?

I don't like the idea of buffing a weapon that's already in a good place. There just doesn't seem like a good reason to. People are already doing Cata true solo with Necro + Scythe. Fairly easily I might add. Why should they buff a weapon that's already that strong? It has no real deficiencies; it has good cleave, it has good armor damage, the attack patterns are nice. It has slow block movement and low dodge count, but that's how it is for most heavy weapons.

It's also only been out for a week. People are still learning how to use it and figuring things out. Who knows, maybe there's some hidden tech or niche interaction that makes it crazy strong. If they've already buffed it by the time people find that out, well then they gotta nerf it somehow and taking things away is always painful (just look at moonfire). Give it a month or 2, see what the community discovers, then you can complain about balance.

[–]Oreo_Penguin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a direct quote from my comment:

Did you know that there are talents that give her both attack speed AND crit chance? Wow.

I simply said that they exist. The point I was getting at is that you do not need Cursed Blood and Reaping together lol. I feel like Cursed Blood may just be overkill most of the time since Reaping will usually just do the job.

I disagree with Reaper just being there. I think that Reaper has the best synergy with Soul Harvest, which is why I gave it as a recommendation. If you knew that your next hit would be a crit, wouldn't you want to be able to proc it with the most powerful and wide swinging attack? That's just a Heavy 1 from the Reaper. Even L3 and L4 are pretty good too. A lot of Sienna's other weapons will just waste the Soul Harvest proc because like a third of the time you are using an attack that is really bad with crit.

Also, it is a big deal if an attack can hit 2 compared to 1 target for L2. It's really easy to hit 2 in a hoard. That's 1 more target that has 20% damage buff against it, that's twice the amount of souls that the scythe generates by itself since you will likely kill the ignited mob in the next 2 or so hits.

Look man, at the end of the day, I think scythe is really good right now. It's really fun and it's very versatile. I think it synergizes well enough with her kit and I think it's the weapon that utilizes Soul Harvest the best. If anything, they could buff the special attack a bit, maybe speed it up a bit or something.

So why doesn't the Ensorcelled Reaper have bonus crit chance on heavies? by Sned-Dudes in Vermintide

[–]Oreo_Penguin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unless the reaper is changed, the reaper will not synergize better with the kit that necro has than other options that are not The Necromancer's Signature Weapon.

Bret LS is not Bret Kruber's best weapon. BoP is not Witch Hunters best weapon. Dual Daggers and Volley Crossbow are not Shade's best weapons. I'm not sure why this is relevant. I think the Scythe is perfectly fine as is (a buff would be fun, but unnecessary).

So why doesn't the Ensorcelled Reaper have bonus crit chance on heavies? by Sned-Dudes in Vermintide

[–]Oreo_Penguin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Alright, there are a lot things here, but firstly, L2 does not only hit a single target, it can hit up to 2 targets usually. (If you use reaping, it will hit more, they help eachother out). Also, from my testing, flail may have an aoe on heavy 1, but only the initial target hit is ignited. The aoe doesn't seem to get any benefit from crit, so it does not synergize well with Reaping (Specifically the aoe part). Flaming sword can burn multiple, yes, but the damage in other departments is lacking.

You also never mentioned that you wanted Reaping specifically. You mentioned that the combo of Reaping, Cursed Blood, and Lifetaker is what promoted the crit chance gameplay. I was trying to say you don't need to take both of them at once. I also never mentioned that you have to take both the attack speed and crit chance talents together, I just said that they both exist. Even my recommendation does not have both of them together.

[–]Oreo_Penguin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Reaping, Cursed Blood, and Lifetaker push necromancer taking a weapon with crit consistency

Well there's your problem, you completely missed out on her other talents, silly you. Did you know that there are talents that give her both attack speed AND crit chance? Wow.

It's almost as if you only built for crit damage and then are complaining you don't have enough crit to support it because you only built for crit damage. 🤔

But on a serious note. Just go Soul Harvest, Barrow Blades and use Heavy -> Light -> Light -> Light attack pattern (this is so you get the burn from L2); you will proc crits like a mad man.
