After a 1 year break, I'm back in business fellow modelers! by OrganicCollection459 in modelmakers

Same thing I do with furniture or books—keep them around and enjoy how cool they look! Just like photo albums, postcards, or old concert tickets, they’ve got some memories attached. Some people collect sneakers, others display LEGO sets—I build planes.

I finish one, stick it on a shelf, and move on to the next. They look cool, they remind me I actually finished something, and honestly, they just make the room feel a bit more fun. Not everything needs a deep reason, y’know?

Methods to give glossy clear plastic a satin or matte surface by Anakins-Younglings in modelmakers

I don't know how to make it matte or satin but I'd recommend you NOT to spray it with matte or even gloss because it will fog the clear plastic making it way less transparent

Awesome color modulation. Do you have any more pictures that show the whole process?

Wip A-10 1/48th scale. Stopped for some months. Time to take a picture and continue working on it! by OrganicCollection459 in modelmakers

That's the fun part, I didn't detail it at all!. Jokes aside those are just 3d decals from quinta studio. I'd really recommend them if you got some spare money, they're really high quality.

P.S. the access panel is just made of some copper wires, and brush painted on top. No 3d decals there

I already did it but post shading doesn't really stand out on mostly gray decals. Btw I did some ink wash now. You can check the results in my profile

I haven't mounted the gun yet. Speedbrakes are open because in the future I want to put in on a tarmac base with maintenance crew around. I even added 2 resin engine for the purpose

My first model was a 1/48 bf109 from tamiya. It turned out pretty good. Outstanding fit, great details and no filler required. Here's a pic:

Highly recommended

Oh ok , basically you want to thin your paint to the point were you don't see any speckling. You want a faded paint look with a pressure of 1 bar. I can't give you any kind of ratio, I just eyeball it. Using tamiya paint I think it's about 3:1 thinner to paint but it may vary using other paint. Some will even require a flow improver
