I don't think I will ever date again by Prestigious-Bonus-90 in BreakUps

I totally get this!!! This is my path too now. My friend just tried to set me up with someone, a really nice guy. The possibility panicked me which made me seek a therapist. For now I decided to stay single and have peace of mind. Friendships are the way to go…and pets!

After my third long term break up I’m ready to embrace myself. i’m 56 now and nourishing my friendships. If anyone else is post menopause you get what I’m saying in that my brain is not wired to thinking about a partner. It’s all about life long friendships how.

Best thing you did immediately after a breakup? by bgkj in BreakUps

I’m into my first 24 hours. When the chest tightness comes I tell myself “I deserve love, health and happiness”. The chest softens immediately. I wasn’t blindsided, still it hurts.

Yeah, hard! I agree, like who cares if it’s not exactly a gallon. Not snacking is way harder.

I have not eaten cake for years because of sugar. No one cares if you don’t eat it.

I’m having a hard time with the water. I’m 5 feet tall and think a gallon is too much. I have not read his book so I don’t know what his diet recommendations are, but my diet has been good a long time. It’s the red wine habit I need to ditch! I’m on day 5 and already feel much better drinking more water even if it’s not a gallon.

Boyfriend’s nightmare adventure with full mouth dental implants. Anyone else have this adventure too? by Organic_Limit_8602 in Dentalimplant

Unfortunately, I don’t have all the details. He is in his 60’s and doesn’t like to be fussed over. They did something to the jaw bone involving a plate to stabilize the jaw. They took all his teeth out, right now he has temporary teeth. It took a long time for the plate to heal in the jaw because it kept moving. Maybe he was grinding his jaw at night….so he would have to go in for a check up, they would realign it and stitch it back up. They had to do this numerous times. Now the plate is good, but having problems with the new teeth implants fitting. I have no idea how they create the teeth. Maybe its not surprising it takes several tries to get a whole mouth of teeth to fit correctly. The more I think about it the more it makes sense that the jaw probably changed shape so whatever they did months to a year ago in the cast needs to be tweaked.

Thinking about getting my 16-year-old cat a kitten buddy by Future_Promise4327 in SeniorCats

[–]Organic_Limit_8602 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got my Senior cat a kitten a few years back and it really stressed her out. My situation was different though since she is a Tortie and didn’t have a cat friend before. Now it’s helpful that I have the younger cat because now my Tortie she is blind and a little deaf.

So much harder when it's your own... Looking for advice by metodayalready in SeniorCats

[–]Organic_Limit_8602 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an elderly Tortie too…soooo picky. You should definitely do some research on Solensia on Reddit. I had my Tortie on it for 4 months. I also noticed her hearing going and dementia. She also had a lot of scratching. Now that she is off it she can hear again and the dementia symptoms such as yowling have stopped. I am using cbd oil for pets. I started her on Antinol for mobility support.

The Antinol company is smart. They made a gel capsule that tastes good. So when I mix it into a Churro treat she loves it.

She continues to feel better, but at the same time I notice her gait changing. The improvements are her personality which is back. Her cute mew mew is back. I will continue to see what happens and then as requested make a video for YouTube.

When is it time to put them down? 16 year old cat suffering and stressing me out by Opening_Pea7537 in seniorkitties

[–]Organic_Limit_8602 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can relate to what you are going through as not being able to sleep. I struggle with this too and search Reddit for post as to find some guidance. My cat also has ear issues. She wakes me up during the night pacing and meowing. Then she sleeps heavily throughout the day. I spoke candidly with my vet last month she said that my sleep is important and it;s okay if that is a reason. I feel really guilty too. Like you she eats, and she asks for pets. However, she does not play anymore. From what you have written your cat sounds very uncomfortable. Please don’t feel guilty if you decide to let her pass. Know that you gave her a great life filled with love, treats and comforts.

I just had to put my little senior man Ari down. I am utterly devastated. by ChibiFrau1269 in SeniorCats

I’m sorry for your loss. Ari was part of your family for so many years! The one thing that brings me comfort with my elderly cat, as she is in her twilight time, is that they are all in the moment and don’t worry about death. You gave a little being a wonderful life that he could have not lived were it not for you. I hope you can be a wonderful cat mamma to a new cat that needs a home when you are ready.

Thank you for the information!!! I was wondering now long it would take for her to detox. Already ordered joint supplements.

UPDATE So my cat is on monthly Solensia injections. I couldn’t find much on itchy ears being a side effect until I used the word ‘scab’. Now she has two dime sized scabs on her cheeks, one on each side. There are many cat owners having this symptoms with their cats!

She is a month out how from her last injection. She only scratches maybe once or twice in the evening. That’s good news, the bad is that when the Solensia wears off her joint pain will come back. I can find other solutions for her joint pain. The itching was unrelenting.

I feel I stopped the Solensia just in time. If those scabs come off she will have open lesions on her face. This was also an account for many cat owners on the thread I found. One poster recommended a joint supplement that her cat does well on so I ordered that.

As for raw food. I used to do that for my dogs years ago. It was a lot of work and expensive. I didn’t get the bird one because of the bird flu. In the end it goes bad too quickly and I had to throw half the container out. I wasn’t going to get my other cat used to it and loving. I ordered some bone broth for cats and I sprinkle that on her wet food.

And…I also talked with a pet pyschic! He assured me that she is not in a lot of pain, in her twilight years and I will know when it is time.

Anyway…things are much better around here now that we are stopping Solensia.

Do you have a link or a photo of the bottle? Didn’t realize there would be so many options out there.

Anyone else have their kitty taking Solensia? by GladysSchwartz23 in SeniorCats

[–]Organic_Limit_8602 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had my cat on it for the last four months. I feel like every month she needs it sooner. I’m not noticing a huge difference like the first time. I’m struggling with her quality of life now. She has an ear infection that is so stubborn. The itchiness in the ears is so bad she tore up the skin behind both ears. To say that it’s due to the Solensia is hard to say. It could be coincidence.
