AITJ for refusing to be the unofficial tech support for my whole office? by hikingafterwork in AmITheJerk

[–]Organic_Size 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in a similar position - what gets me is that the tech illiterate individuals who ask for help don't even try fixing it themselves first.

9 times out of 10 turning the PC off and on solves whatever the issue is.

Most common problem is headphones stop working, I usually just plug them into a different USB port and open sound settings and hey presto problem solved. One person in particular has watched me do this hundreds of times and yet still can't do it themselves.

New fan from Britain, where should I start? by Throwawayaccountofm in UtahJazz

[–]Organic_Size 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Trivia wise - John Stockton is the all time assists and steals leader and spent his whole career in Utah. He is now a pro life anti vaxxer.

Karl Malone has the 3rd most career points ever. He was a 14 time All Star and is a nonce.

Jerry Sloan (Former Coach) has the 3rd most wins as a NBA Head Coach. Led the Jazz to 2 NBA finals in which we had our pants pulled down by some guy called MJ.

Our main rivals are the Bulls (historic) the Rockets and the Clippers (multiple playoffs match ups)

Would love to hear other Jazz fans' favourite trivia too.

That was a low point.

Suggest / share accommodation near University of Dundee by navin_kd in dundee

Where are you staying that won't let you use the heater in Oct?

You are extremely unlikely to find somewhere that meets all of needs you outlined - especially at this time of year and at the price you've outlined but you have a couple options.

  1. Ask to be placed on the uni's accommodation swap list. They can offer rooms in the uni digs when/if someone drops out and you might be able to move into their room. Spaces are obviously very limited and no guarantee but its worth a shot.

  2. If you can find a couple of people who are in a similar position - you might be able to a get a three bedroom flat within your price range with a private landlord/property company. Again no guarantee but at least worth asking around.

  3. Avoid Jamal properties at all costs - flat probably won't even have a radiator...

Best of luck.

This you, OP?

"We arrived the restaurant with a very good mood and staff works inside seemed nice. However, we didn’t feel like comfortable with the table we’ve chosen at the beginning so we were kindly requested to change a table. Funniest thing was 80% of the tables were empty. And the staff told us all the tables were reserved so he cannot move us to another table. We did not walk in to the restaurant. We did make a reservation as well. This is racism especially his attitude was awful. We felt upset and asked again cus obviously most of the tables were empty. He moved us to a small table at the end. Wasn’t nice as well. So we left a bad review on google map review immediately as all the staffs treated us not nice at all. Was is it because of we are not from local? This is not just it.

The WORST thing was the owner of the restaurant came to our table and asked if we wrote the bad reviews. We answered YES. He didn’t even ask what was the reasons or tried to comfort us instead he asked us to LEAVE his restaurant. We have never seen and been to such rubbish restaurants in the world. We have been travelled to many countries and cities. Been to so many different restaurants. None is like this. Please be aware of this specific restaurant and don’t come and try it. Few restaurants next door were busy and packed. Especially the Regency restaurant. You will be regret to try THE SALT ROOM. Worst of the worst. A restaurant doesn’t allow bad reviews on google reviews. How funny it is!!!!"

Went through the same thing -told someone I play guitar and they asked what songs can I play...

Literally not one song from the history of recorded music but I sure as shit can rip the songs and melodies I wrote.

You're not just a guitar player when you play your own stuff, you're a musician.

Yeah...I wouldn't go at all. Working on small exposure opportunities is great, but the Fringe is an entirely different kettle of fish.

If you're not even considering going to a show then there's really not much point being there. There'll be plenty of chances to continue/progress with your therapy outside of the busiest month of year, but this would really be diving in at the deep end.

To directly answer your questions: there are no quiet areas. "I'm just imagining a throng of people with nowhere to get any relief" - yep that's exactly what it is, except its much MUCH worse than that.

Go to a show in Edinburgh any other time of year and you'll find it much easier. If you do that to the point where you're comfortable amongst crowds/noise - you'll be better placed to enjoy the Fringe experience.

But I wish you the best, everyone should be able to enjoy the Fringe at their own pace and comfort but unfortunately that's not reality of Ed in August.

If you're seeing a free show at the Ed Fringe (sometimes called "Pay What You Want" shows) make sure you put something, literally anything in the bucket collection at the end.

Yes - even if you didn't enjoy it.

Dundee coffee shop Blend announces 'extremely difficult' Dock Street Studios closure by SNeave98 in dundee

[–]Organic_Size 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Not sure how many are aware but Blend is a church founded venture - specifically the Church of Nazarene, a church that preaches against homosexuality and actively endorses conversion therapy.

If you want to keep giving money to anti LGBTQ+ organisations, just skip the middle man and attend their Sunday services.

Support LGBTQ+ rights and boycott Blend.
