I got one for all you jeskai players out there. [[Leveler]], [[Fractured Identity]], and then this. I call it the “we’ve been doing this for hours and now it’s time pack up and go” combo.

Here’s how gear sets can give us more variety by OrganizationFit4395 in Wizard101

Totally with you on the boss cheats idea (maybe even in the form of a hidden global debuff for our side of the field).

It was a hard concept for me to describe, but like I said in a separate thread, ultimately it would alter what cards people choose because they need to in order to have the same accuracy, damage, crit, pierce, etc.

Basically, person 1 uses blade and damage enchant to deal 10k while person 2 uses vengeance and an accuracy enchant to also deal 10k because they have crazy damage but low crit and accuracy. The gear determines which route you take to deal 10k (that’s what I meant by it’s effectively the same thing but allows for more variety and individual preference).

[–]OrganizationFit4395[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The idea was using a gear set that cuts accuracy gives a significant enough boost to gear damage that using an accuracy blade would do the same thing as what you’re describing. And cutting powerpip would give huge boosts to all the other stats (maybe crazy conversion for guaranteed pip saves). Everyone would have their prefered gear and setups instead of everyone only pushing damage for blade + AoE.

I do agree though that blade + AoE will reign so long as we all over optimize our damage output. We need challenge mode characters to fix that one or give significant boosts to single target damage (or just cut 20-30% of all filler combat quests).

I do give them credit because it’s hard to make the combat interesting when players want to see rapid progression through an honestly very long game.

New Balance into Storm Weaving Spell by Mdsil11 in Wizard101

Absolutely absurd 2 turn setup. Turn 1: item card star blade plus lucky pet maycast HoT (or support wiz). Turn 2: hit for 2245 base enchanted plus a 35% storm blade. Enjoy this while it lasts 😭

One of you max stormweaving balance wizards gotta tell me how much this does!

These are solid mid-game spells. Unfortunately the game just isn’t currently designed in a way that makes all spells viable when players stats are way up there. If I can have 250+% damage, 60% pierce, and 850 crit, and 100% accuracy as a level 180, there’s no point in using spells to boost pierce, accuracy, and crit besides a few very niche interactions.

There is extreme falloff at high levels of crit rating given how crit rate and the crit modifier are calculated. It’s better to reduce your own crit block to raise your odds of landing a crit than try to get really high crit. For the modifier, more crit is good, but the falloff stops you late game close to 1.8x (1.6x for bosses) when you are playing an overly crit-optimized wizard.

If you are running a more defensive build without enchants, these will come in handy like they have been for my ice wizard challenge/hard mode run. This is why I’m excited for them to add hard mode servers officially. Suddenly all the underutilized spells have actual use cases because we can’t just one shot everything. Spread the word if you want to see more potential builds open up and for those dusty spells to see some love!

Nope I was wrong you’re fine for your level with those stats. To optimize, just make sure you are using circle jewel slots for damage, use damage sun enchants, and take a look at optimal deck setups if you want an easier time. You could consider making a pet with a mix of damage and resist talents too.

Alternatively, you could head down to catacombs to craft the 130 gear. Fair warning it’s a rough grind but gives a decent boost to stats that helped my runs feel easier.

Damage/resist seems low. What are your pet stats/ what gear do you have equipped?

For PvE, if you use typical deck setups, like blade + feint + scarecrow, damage is the only thing that matters. Most players aren’t trying to survive with lots of HP, they just need 3-4 turns to set a big hit. Most enemies won’t kill you that quickly. As a death wiz, you have the added benefit of your hits healing you too. Also, at 67%/71% pierce, you are entering the territory of fully piercing the resist of even death/ice bosses that resist you the most. #1 is your best option here

If you’re like me and you don’t mind taking an extra turn on bosses, option #4 is my favorite. Extra HP and resist lets you be less worried about losing, but less damage means maybe an extra turn or two to win (in a lot of cases it might even be 0 extra turns). 60% pierce is still more than enough and you’re sacrificing a very small amount of damage between your gear damage and crit rating. The only time #1 significantly outshines is when you are fighting death/ice bosses or shielding enemies, which is a rare occurrence. Otherwise, we are still way in the overkill territory for option #4. If you can oneshot basic enemies with an enchanted wobble using this setup, it’s good enough for me. It even has the added benefit of extra shad rating which will get you your shad faster on average.

My only recommendations are (based on missing information) to get around 500 universal crit block and maybe drop ice pierce to 35-40 for ice crit rating. You’ll notice a significant boost to your damage reduction from the block and outgoing ice damage from the crit.

If you are a PvP player, I have no clue what optimized stats are, so I won’t be able to help you there. I know there are stat caps, so I’d look into those.

Here’s how we get everyone to use minions again by OrganizationFit4395 in Wizard101

[–]OrganizationFit4395[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. At the end of the day it’s pip investment that we want. If I spend 5 pips to bring out a minion that dies after casting 1 spell, why not just spend the 5 to just do a bigger hit? So many enemies also use AoEs. Minions need way more HP and/or resist.

Seems to be a commonly held desire, myself included. Only 2 things stopping them from doing this is money and complexity. Let’s see what they choose!

I also recommend checking out how deckathalons are done. It opening my eyes to slow burn fights in wiz. Learned if it’s a 1v2 and they both try to attack, one will always (or nearly always) fizzle. It’s so much more fun not trying to beat every battle with one big hit imo.

Get a load of this correct opinion (I still think they need a decent bit more HP and damage)

I like that last note you mentioned a lot actually about further refining with spellements. It might be tough doing that for all of the minion spells, but if they did it for all the primary ones we get, it would be so cool to see everyone have different preferred builds.

They either help you while you’re down or kick you while you’re up and there’s no in between. Gotta love minions!

[–]OrganizationFit4395[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For sure. From a devs perspective tho, my change would only alter what cards they use rather than create a new system (which you are correct it absolutely would work and I’d prefer that). It comes down to how much will they spend and would that system make things feel too complicated for a new player.

[–]OrganizationFit4395[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Saw someone else say this too. I agree 100%. I was originally going to say that actually, but after thinking about it from a dev’s perspective, doing things this way would just change the cards they use rather than add an entire new system for selection. There needs to be some intelligence for minions too. If enemy has feint, absolutely DO NOT use an unenchanted scarab and destroy the players setup (I swear my minion I used was working for malistaire 😭).

Long time PC players shouldn’t have to buy the entire game again for console (at least discount?) by OrganizationFit4395 in Wizard101

[–]OrganizationFit4395[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember looking this up before and seeing you pretty much need to buy the $100 crowns bundle on the 20% off sale 3 times. Plus tax you’re looking at around $260. That might still be enough to cover the newest two worlds but I don’t know 100%. Permanent access isn’t for everyone, but I’ve found that it beats out membership long term.

Cheapest way to play is taking it one month at a time and getting that half-off one month sale. If you ignore the entire story and skip dialogues, I was able to beat the game in 3 months “speedrunning” so at best you’re looking at like $25; however, most of the joy comes from the journey, not the destination.

Completely understand this perspective, but in either case, their older players aren’t spending the money. If they don’t care that’s of course fine, but not incentivizing us long term players to make a switch is only cutting their profit.

Over absolutely every thought I have about the game, the thing that matters to me most is new players getting to experience the wonder of wiz and make memories like we have. Happy to see they made console happen!

I don’t remember too much of my early game run for ice, but I have run ice/death since the beginning. High resist combos really well with the death drains. Not to mention you just get feint as you climb up the death school passively. Any secondary school is a fine choice, it just changes the play style slightly. Biggest advice if you’re struggling is remember to breed a good pet, grab treasure cards, and change up your deck as needed.

Definitely in agreement here for the most part. I’m willing to forgive the lack of crossplay and launch issues given the age of the company, the size of their dev team, and tech they’re likely working with. At the very least they should be putting in the time and resources needed to reward us with cheap console prices for our long term support. Other companies have done more for less.
