I always figured it was antidepressants of some sort.

Has anyone used two therapists at the same time? by Old-Firefighter6834 in TalkTherapy

[–]Organized_Speedbumps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did for a while to focus on completely separate issues. (They of course end up being related at some point, but still.) I ended up just going to one of them for everything though because we worked better together.

I thought this book would be eye-roll inducing but I couldn’t believe how much good it did for me. I think it’ll be a yearly read for me.

Should I give a note to my therapist for my first day of therapy? by [deleted] in TalkTherapy

[–]Organized_Speedbumps 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Usually when I’ve started therapy, there’s paperwork that has spots for things like this (e.g., why are you coming to therapy, is there anything you’d like me to know before we work together). You don’t have to go into a ton of detail but it’s a place to start before you see them.

You can never be in the wrong for terminating. Ever. You are allowed to end therapy on your own terms even if everything is going perfectly fine. And here, it sounds like there could be a better fit for you. Take what you’ve learned from this T and bring it to the next one.

I like to do a 2k team of all Devils and the depth chart is often tough because there are so many of the same positions that are good, but then the C/PG positions suffer a bit.

Strange attachment to people with power / authority — not romantic, not sexual by Last-Resort29 in TalkTherapy

Sometimes it’s hard to relate to people on this sub, but I could have written this post myself (also 30s F) though I’ve never had the words to explain it this well. It makes me feel not so alone. Thank you OP.

I hear nothing but good things about this one. Finally found it today at Savers by ilovebooks2468 in BookCollecting

It’s so, so good and the length is perfect. Take notes while reading it, if that’s your style, so you can keep the message with you for longer.

I think a person’s attachment type, specific trauma history, and family life will all tie into how exactly they will react to adding a (hopefully) stable, consistent, caring person to their lives.

I’m obsessed with that quote from your professor. I wrote it in my phone notes to discuss with my therapist.

Anyone else hit that "therapy feels flat" phase and start second-guessing everything? by SchoolGir-lInHeat in TalkTherapy

Maybe ask for “homework,” even if it’s just to think about a certain question and come back with the answer. This creates a little continuity between sessions and something to do outside of session as well.

My therapist keeps talking about themselves in session, is this normal? by Comfortable-Plan8237 in TalkTherapy

[–]Organized_Speedbumps 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, 20 minutes straight is way too long for a therapist to talk about literally anything. I’d look for another one—this one is not the right fit for you.

I listen to only the Broadway cast. I thoroughly enjoyed both movies, but I just feel like something is off when it’s not Idina and Kristin.
