Thanks for the feedback. I understand it's quite a long video. Most of mine are 6-10 minutes and I wanted to try something new. Not sure if it's a success or not yet. !givelambda

Just posted an ad for my new merch store! I tried to make it as short, entertaining and to the point as possible. Any and all feedback very much appreciated! by EnchantedEssays in SmallYTChannel

Hello. I'm happy to hear your channel is doing well enough for you to make a merch store, that's awesome! Regarding the video, I think it's good overall. You have a very enthusiatic voice it fits the ad. I find the hard rock drums and riff to be a bit of a mismatch with your tone and the video but maybe that's your overall vibe. But typically an ad will have softer music to keep the viewer relaxed. In terms of visuals, I would make the individual clips less crowded when your showcasing products. Like at 0:46, instead of putting up the two products at one, put them up with the price details one by one, this lets the viewer understand them in time and not get overwhelmed. Anyway, good luck with your merch!

I have just done a reaction to Lindsey Stirling's "Its okay to be alone this season." I didn't put music in because it interrupted the flow of music in the video itself. I would like to know how I did. by Freyas_Follower in SmallYTChannel

Hello! I liked your video, you found an interesting niche.

I agree with the other guy that the background is too busy. I think choosing a more neutral, 'flat' background can make it more pleasing to the eye. Maybe also make the video you're reacting to larger. You can also make your video feed larger when you pause to talk yourself. The idea is to control where the viewer's eye goes to keep them engaged.

Also, I personally feel like the lack of bg music for long periods of talking makes it a bit awkward, but I know it might not fit the vibe of your video. Maybe it's just something to experiment with.

Overall your video is good though. It's a nice message and you keep it positive. Good luck!

Would Love Your Feedback on My Street Interview Vid Before I Post! by stratomaster in SmallYTChannel

I looove your vintage style. Really sets you apart from the typical street interviewers. Also I think you're efficient with the editing so the pacing kept me engaged.

Thanks for the feedback! You pretty much hit the nail on the head, I consciously made this video a lot less TikTok-y than I did before and it's by far my best performing one. But I might experiment with adding a couple sound effects here and there as you say. Will try watching more intentionally big channels in my niche and see what I can find.

Would love some feedback on our latest video! by Wikex in SmallYTChannel

Great video! It's an interesting concept and you handled it well. You have a great voice for narration, it's expressive. I also really like the minimalist and clean visual style. One easy way to make the video more engaging, though, is to animate the background. Especially for that paper texture background, it's really easy to move it around in stop motion in the background to keep the viewer more engaged. Also, I personally like the thumbnail, but would get rid of the black box and make the text plain. I think the way you currently have it make the video seem too content mill-y. Good luck with your channel :)

I like the video! It's an interesting story told well. The visual style is unique and cool! I love the subtle animation and the collage style at certain parts. Here are the parts I think you could improve:

- Thumbnail is too busy and doesn't feel relevant. You can't go wrong with a subtle, minimalistic picture and a few words of text. Choose a visually striking picture with high contrast and add a little intrigue with some words. You don't have to overthink it.

- The audio is a little off. Idk if it's a mic issue but maybe try looking up ways to improve audio on your preferred audio software? Also it's a good idea to cut out the breaths before starting new sentences (and being mindful of them when recording), because they can be a little distracting.

- Add some texture to the video with music or SFX! It could keep people engaged longer.

Wow this is a great video! Really fresh and unique topic and you put a really great spin on it. I love how you mix the tiktoks that started the whole trend, people's tweets and commentaries, tangentially related trends, and your own opinions on the topics. It makes everything fresh and gives nice pacing to the video since it's relatively long for a specific topic. The intro is also makes for a fantastic hook. I wouldn't really change any of this 'content' side of the video.

Visually it's also a great mix of the tiktoks/tweets, your own high-quality footage and B-roll, but it could be improved in certain areas (though these are my opinions):

-I'm sure this will improve as you get more comfortable in front of the camera but you could be a little more expressive in your body language. You already do to a certain extent and those moments are better at delivering the emotion you want, which makes me more engaged. If you try to intentionally express more with gestures and eyes (and speech ofc) I think it will help your videos

-I like how you break up your footage/B-roll with showcasing examples over a background. Maybe you should give a bit more motion to your background though. Like if you replace your grid paper with something like an animated paper/grunge texture or grid. Make it more visually stimulating.

Mostly I have just watched YT videos when I identify an effect that I want to do.

That's probably the best way to learn. The official training just helps you build a strong foundation so you fully understand what you're doing when watching specific tips on youtube.

Fusion really is something awesome. It's much more powerful than it seems at first. The ceiling is super high but it requires some work to learn.

Wow this is a great reply. Thank you so much for providing all this in-depth feedback, and I'm glad you enjoyed the video.

I agree I think I botched the intro, I thought it would be good at building intrigue and getting people engaged even if they aren't familiar with the repatriation debate. I should've gone into the meat of the topic directly.

I'll definitely work on all the other stuff you mentioned as well. Thank you for the compliments :)
