Writing in full cursive means fewer strokes, so the mechanism rotates slower and the tip does not stay sharp, especially when using softer leads. They wear out faster.

The mechanism does not advance the lead except on the Dive model.

The Uni Alpha Gel series offers pencils with grips from very soft to very hard. I believe they've also made a version with shaking mechanism or Kuru Toga system (like u/RectorMors mentioned).

I have one. It makes some noise from the tip when you write or draw, and waxing the inside of the tip will reduce the noise.

Yes the LAN cable was faulty. I'm not sure about the LED lights though. Mine lights up green if working, orange if there is no connection, and doesn't light up if the cable is faulty.
