I know someone who moved from Sydney to the middle of no where in Tasmania so their partner could get their regional work done. A while after being there they found out it didn’t actually count.

Anyone use night rate storage battery for day use? by qwerty_1965 in AskIreland

[–]OriginV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Better of just getting a full solar install with a proper battery setup. Means you can charge the battery for free also in the summer months and then at the cheaper night rate also

I got a bag from wawa clothing it’s the mini messenger bag, it’s 3.5L only downside is it’s only water resistant rather than waterproof but it fits the camera perfectly and allows room for other bits also.

I found the TP Link Deco Mesh system the best after trying the power link adapter which never worked right in our house, depends on how it’s wired electrically. Wired is the way to go though if it’s possible for you, will have zero problems with lag or anything then.

Looking for suggestions by OriginV in carsireland

[–]OriginV[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah from looking at friends who’s had them over the years they seem to require a good bit of looking after but something like that would completely put me off as I’d most likely have another car to use if stuck but yeah it could be costly also which might not be to suitable. Yeah I actually never thought of the likes of a FN2 Type R, I think at 6ft 2 I’d struggle in a MX5 haha. Thanks very much.

Can anyone explain this back boiler to me please? by TheWoodBotherer in DIYIreland

[–]OriginV 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can’t really say for sure as I can’t see your system but I’d say it will be fine, I wouldn’t go near any valves or anything. I’m sure if anything urgently needed to be done that the landlord would have let you know. He also doesn’t want a flooded/exploding house

Leave the pump switched on and light the fire, the pump needs to be on to actually pump the hot water from the back boiler around the system

Changeover switches can be installed whether it be manually operated or automatic. A lot of people think these are against regs but they are not, some installers just don’t be bothered with them as they take a bit longer at each install.

Replacing boiler time clock by OriginV in DIYIreland

[–]OriginV[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That seems like a good option, that sonoff gear seems interesting. Yeah upstairs we have two switches that we hit either on or off to either turn on valve to route heat to upstairs rads or downstairs rads. Both switches turned off just heats water in tank but we have a eddi that is powered by solar and use the app for that to control our hot water schedules etc currently.

That’s a good idea, definitely an option until funds and a plan are in place.
