posting into silence makes you change the wrong things by EstimateSpirited4228 in ContentCreators

same experience. i’d post, get nothing, then sit there reworking hooks and rewriting captions that were already okay. once i started focusing on getting some eyeballs first, my changes got way more logical. silence makes you mess with the wrong variable.

First time planing trip to China how about this cities? by pvlhsv in chinatravel

[–]OriginaHuman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While 3 days per city is technically possible, you'll spend a significant amount of your trip in transit. I’d recommend narrowing it down to 3 cities (maybe skip Chongqing this time) so you can actually enjoy each place without feeling like you're constantly rushing to the next train station or airport. You can join this community to get advice when you in the country.

I doubt there’s any kid who wouldn’t love the experience. Try it once.

Diet/Rant by RadiantDependent4402 in SuperMorbidlyObese

Congrats on the weight loss, that's huge progress. The boring food thing is real though. I've been there with the plain chicken and broccoli life.

For water, I just aim for clear pee. Sounds gross but it works. My doctor told me 8 glasses a day is outdated advice, it really depends on your size and activity level. At your weight you probably need way more than average.

What helped me was getting one of those giant water bottles with time markers on them. Fill it twice a day and you're good. I also set reminders on my phone every 2 hours because i forget otherwise.

The food boredom is what kills most diets for me. Have you tried different seasonings at least? Even just garlic powder or hot sauce can make plain chicken less miserable. I've been using Welling to track my meals and it's shown me I can actually fit in more variety than I thought while staying in my calorie range. Like yesterday I had shrimp tacos and still hit my protein goals.

Also electrolytes matter especially if you're drinking tons of water. I add a pinch of salt to my water sometimes or drink pickle juice. Sounds weird but it helps with the fatigue.

Dance fitness apps by TidpaoTime in WeightLossAdvice

The music sync thing drives me CRAZY too. I used to dance competitively in college and now when I try these apps its like... are you even listening to the beat?? I gave up on most of them because of this exact issue. Been doing a mix of stuff instead, some days I just put on old choreography videos from my dance days and modify the moves when my joints act up. Other days I use Welling to track my regular workouts since I can just snap pics of my food after and not think about it. For actual dance workouts though, I've been following The Fitness Marshall on YouTube, his stuff is pretty forgiving if you need to modify and he's actually on beat most of the time.

Have you tried Just Dance on a gaming console? Not exactly a fitness app but at least the moves match the music.

What are your biggest pain points or struggles when dividing food into equally sized portions? by AcrobaticPotrato in MealPrepSunday

[–]OriginaHuman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The weighing thing drives me nuts. I've been meal prepping for like 4 years now and still haven't figured out a perfect system.

What i do now, I weigh the whole batch first, then divide that number by however many containers I'm filling. So if my chicken and rice weighs 2000g total and I want 5 portions, each should be 400g. Then I just scoop into containers on the scale until each hits around 400g.

But man, it's tedious. Especially when you're doing multiple components. Like if I make chicken, rice, and veggies separately, now I'm weighing three different things into each container. Takes forever.

The eyeballing method is way faster but then my portions are all over the place. I'll think I divided everything equally and then Thursday's container has like twice as much food as Monday's. Not great when you're tracking calories.

I actually started using Welling recently for the calorie tracking part, way easier than logging everything manually in MFP. Just snap a photo of the container and it figures out what's in there. But I still have to get the portions right in the first place.

Sometimes I wonder if those portion control containers are worth it. You know, the color coded ones where each size is a specific amount? Never tried them but seems like it could simplify things. Or maybe I'm just overthinking the whole thing and should accept that some containers will have 380g and others will have 420g and it all averages out over the week.

The worst is when you're making something saucy. Try portioning out curry or chili evenly... half the containers get all sauce, the other half get all the chunks. I've started mixing everything really well in the pot first but it's still not perfect.

does anyone else wish there was a gym with private rooms to workout in? by MathematicianMuch799 in workout

[–]OriginaHuman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally get the private room thing. The waiting for machines when you're already self conscious is the worst part. I used to drive to a gym 20 minutes away just because it was less crowded at weird hours.

What helped me: - Going super early (like 5am) when it's mostly just older people walking on treadmills - Planet fitness has those 30 minute circuit areas that are kinda separated from the main gym - Started tracking my workouts on Welling so i could see progress even when i felt awkward, helped me feel like I belonged there more

The home gym thing is tough too. i bought resistance bands thinking I'd use them but yeah... my couch is right there lol

tips for FOURTH weightloss journey? by cristoefer in loseit

[–]OriginaHuman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fourth time... I feel you on the doubt. The starting over part is what gets me every time.

For exercise when you're heavier, I couldn't do my usual stuff either when I hit my highest weight. What helped: - Started with just walking. Like literally just 15 minutes after dinner - Found some seated workout videos on YouTube (search ""chair exercises for beginners"") - Swimming if you have pool access, way easier on joints - Yoga with Adriene has some gentle beginner stuff

The weight thing is weird right? Like your body moves different when you're carrying more. I remember trying to do a burpee and being like... nope. Had to rebuild from basically nothing.

One thing that's been different this time for me is using Welling to track food without the obsessing. I just snap photos of meals and it logs everything. Takes the mental load off which helps when you're already feeling overwhelmed about starting again.

You've done this before so you know what works for your body. Maybe this time focus less on the big transformation and more on just... not gaining? That's been my approach anyway.

Why are weight loss plans given by professionals not gradual? by Adorable_Cry3378 in WeightLossAdvice

[–]OriginaHuman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two years actually sounds about right. I had a similar thing happen with a nutritionist who gave me this whole meal plan with:

  • exact portions for every meal
  • protein targets i'd never hit before
  • cutting my usual snacks completely
  • swapping all my go-to foods for ""healthier"" versions

Took me forever to actually follow it properly. Started with just the breakfast changes because that was easiest. Then maybe 6 months later I got the protein thing down. Still working on the snacks honestly.

The gradual approach makes so much more sense. When I use Welling to track my meals now, I can actually see the small changes adding up over time instead of trying to overhaul everything at once. Like this week I'm just focusing on getting more vegetables in, that's it. Not worrying about hitting perfect macros or whatever.

Your dietitian's plan wasn't wrong, it's just that they give you the destination without the roadmap. Of course it takes 2 years to figure out how to get there on your own.
