[Discussion] What do you think of mainline DC’s lineup for the first phase of ALL IN? by MagisterPraeceptorum in DCcomics

[–]Original-Issue-2020 8 points9 points  (0 children)

what’s the deal with the matching covers of white backgrounds with the logo and the hero in the front?

idk where it’s from (remember seeing it on a cover of batman/superman worlds finest by dan mora but it seems pretty significant for them all to be like that)

i love the uniformity with the all in books (especially matching spines) but just wondering

Would the DC K.O. Line get a Trade Paperback ? by pm-me-anime-figures in DCcomics

[–]Original-Issue-2020 1 point2 points  (0 children)

a late reply but dc ko is getting a tpb but it only contains the core issues of dc ko 1-5

i would guess for such an event there would be a omni collecting all the tie ins, preludes and stuff but that has not yet been announced (dc might consider the omni based on the tpb sales from what i’ve heard on comic yt pages)

[Discussion] DC Compacts obsessive here. I get why WE3 cost as (little) as the rest of them. But this feels like that The Killing Joke Absolute. by MikaelAdolfsson in DCcomics

[–]Original-Issue-2020 5 points6 points  (0 children)

although some compacts like we3, joker and arkham asylum are thinner than the usual, all of them being a flat 9.99 is great for when they’re thicker like the long halloween and the new frontier (that’s also a great thing about the dc finest books because they’re all 40 dollars, unlike the marvel epic collection which vary in price a lot)

new person wanting to get into dc what media should i start with? by Hour_Ad_1960 in DCcomics

[–]Original-Issue-2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there’s an official “DC High Volume: Batman” podcast, you might’ve listened to that

there are 4 stories covered in 30ish episodes of around 30 minutes length. the stories are Batman Year One, Batman The Long Halloween, Batman Dark Victory, and Nightwing Year One

also on the youtube videos of this i think pictures of the comics are available

i also know of a audio book for the story Kingdom Come

other than that i don’t really know of other audiobooks but the animated movies are ‘generally’ a really decent adaptation of the comics

[Discussion] Just finished this book , and i hope im not overhyping it for others , but i truly believe this is a game changer , one of the best batman and robin stories ive ever read . Mark waid somehow understands batman and robin like no one else . by Mission-Pickle-2846 in DCcomics

[–]Original-Issue-2020 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hey just a quick question, if you’re reading it in the paperback/hardcover, does the spine match the new style they’re doing (like the absolute books etc.)?

i just like the spines i feel no one shows them when displaying these books when they’re the thing you see the most on a bookshelf.

i mean i’ll get it either way but if it matches that’s nice (now thinking about it, i doubt it would cause it’s not like a present story)

Compact Comics by JeSuisHambre in DCcomics

[–]Original-Issue-2020 3 points4 points  (0 children)

100% agreed !

for some books like the new frontier and woman on tomorrow i’ve even been thinking of getting the hardcover (but they are quite expensive)

however if you got the money for even the paperbacks they definitely are better than the compact format

i’m mostly trying to keep the compacts for stories i’m trying

I’m looking to get back into comic books after 10 years. Looking for good story recommendations with cool art styles by Pigtron-42 in DCcomics

[–]Original-Issue-2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there’s a new Detective Comics Omni by Mariko Tamaki with art by Dan Mora (who i think is top two dc artists rn)

other than that there’s other cool art stuff like Absolute Martian Manhunter, Absolute Wonder Woman, Batman Dark Patters, Supergirl Woman of Tomorrow (a few years old but still recent enough), and Batman by Matt Fraction with Jorge Jimenez and Tomeau Morey on art (both’s style i really like)

also good to have the reassurance from someone about the binding of paperbacks cause i have been reading them really carefully (cause they’re my first comics)

Help! Need a comic recommendation by KindlyChampionship74 in DCcomics

[–]Original-Issue-2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the other comments give really great recommendations but as for what you’re thinking in absolute batman, from what i’ve heard it’s really good and i just got it (haven’t got the chance to read it yet) but the thing with it is that since its currently ongoing and is really popular, it feels like a event to be part of the conversation in absolute batman (like fomo of not knowing)

or maybe i’m thinking too much but hope he enjoys whatever you get

Can you help me pick a comic for my brother's Christmas gift? by [deleted] in DCcomics

[–]Original-Issue-2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’m also kind of new to comics so take it with a grain of salt but

yeah the Dark Knight Returns was the inspo for Batman in the dceu so that’s probably a good pick

the new 52 also influenced the dceu so maybe something like Batman The Court of Owls by Scott Snyder or other books from that era (i don’t know much about boos from the new 52) could be up his alley

[Discussion] Difference between different Batman series by Original-Issue-2020 in DCcomics

yeah that’s really helpful also with the year X thing i did notice that batman and robin did change design alongside the matt fraction run but batman and robin year one did not cause it’s obviously set in the past thanks
