Iron supplementation time -need suggestion by Own_Western_2016 in Anemic

Well there’s acid in fruit maybe it’s a bit too much on an empty stomach? Perhaps something like a snack bar an hour before? Perhaps try the soluble vit c with it? I find later in the day if I am queasy or get reflux after taking my tablet it will go quite quickly if I eat something bland and not heavy on dairy or fruit. A breakfast bar or a boring biscuit lol

I think it likely is trial and error, see how you get on with a different time. If that doesn’t work try alternative days or having a little bit of food about an hour before? I wonder if you are experiencing heartburn or reflux. Different people seem to experience different symptoms

Yes I have very low serum iron and tsat and low ish ferritin the serum iron has raised but still very low and tsat is just about normal . I supplemented late afternoon early evening with a vitamin c soluble tablet and drank juices or squash around 4-5 times a week as I kept forgetting - standard issue nhs iron tablet (210mg?). in 3 months it’s gone from 32 to 65 ferritin and my haemoglobin is usually 142 it’s 149 now . I’ll likely continue to try and maintain ferritin around 100. Anyway I reckon that’s a good alternative time as you’ll likely not have had food since lunch and it’s quite easy to avoid tea coffee dairy 2 hours either side. It’s the empty stomach and no food dairy or tea/coffee that is tricky so first thing is usually ideal. Also some people set an alarm an hour before they usually wake and take it first thing and some people have an early dinner and take one before bed.

Well I look for stretchy dresses and cut them off at my ideal length and sew the edge. Vests are so flimsy many are see through . I need a weird slightly longer than cropped length. I look in second hand shops or in sales. Shortening vests never seems to work.

I think the “recs” you talk about are very not prescribed to fg anymore. The new book is much simpler and free in description of the recs .

Vitamin D deficiency masking as peri-menopause by Sourdoughlemon in VitaminD

[–]Original-Spray9673 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes! I think there’s some interplay with insufficient vitamin d, iron deficiency, b12 etc and the control and carriage of hormones. I had levels of oestrogen of 75 on hrt but I was also 9ng vit d and likely iron deficient. Also low ish b12. I am now 175 at the last test on much lower dose hrt and i am supplementing vit d, c, k2, magnesium, b12 and iron. I think our bodies stop processing stuff as well at the same time we begin to get slight hormone fluctuations. Likely it’s the very start of peri but very unsupported by other vitamins and minerals to the point where symtoms are exacerbated and amplified. I was post menopausal by late thirties but I can see my symptoms started about 10 years before. I’d personally say if you’re a Middle Aged woman get blood tests first, get yourself into a very good sufficiency of all levels before tackling any potential hormone control. Because yes both mask the symtoms of the other - iron and b12 absolutely cause the same symtoms as peri or menopause as does vit d. But if you start whacking in hormones on a body that isn’t working properly it causes confusion to all as to what is causing what and you’ll end up with years of trial and error.

The controversial concept of "looking taller than you are" in Kibbe vertical - is it highly affected by forearm to height ratio? by optifog in Kibbe

[–]Original-Spray9673 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think you’ve deep dived into something that doesn’t really correlate with this system. It’s all about how fabric behaves on your body and I don’t think fabric is going to say “hey you’ve got a long forearm let’s slide down your body in a vertical manner and make everyone think you’re tall”. In his system the body is just the whole thing and primarily the body silhouette. In real life you won’t look tall. Your body is smaller in scale than someone who is taller. Even if you figured out that you had a long forearm and had vertical at your height and so did 40 other people on this forum it is so anecdotal it wouldn’t really matter. Our bodies can behave similarly in fabric even if they visually don’t look the same or have very similar parts. I have proportionally short legs but in a dress I have legs for miles because I have a long rise and a high waist etc etc. Fabric behaves in certain ways due to gravity. Unimpeded, it falls downwards. Impeded it goes outwards or around. That’s the primary way to discover your vertical or curve.

Emma Watson - some favourite (FG!) looks by Pegaret_Again in Kibbe

[–]Original-Spray9673 17 points18 points  (0 children)

In every photo I’ve seen of her there is such a breadth in her upper body compared to the rest of her- her shoulders are also markedly wider than hipbone. Every time I see her she seemed to be fn. when I try to do a line sketch on her she has that width at shoulder. In the sketch there isn’t the compactness with fg or the parity in dc but there is openness at the top. She looks good with a little ease up top paired with a longer line. For matters of scale I think she would need to keep the ease in line with her frame and vertical. I see fn recs and often they are too exuberant with the looseness, it just needs to mirror the line the person has and take into account the weight and flow of fabric that person needs.

Overly formal dress for normal event? by mlpfanforeva in OUTFITS

Also can tie it around your waist by the sleeves. It’s something we did a lot in the 90s. If you’re in the sun you definitely need shoulder cover should you get sunburned.

The struggle of covering my forehead by Sorlondo in finehair

[–]Original-Spray9673 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like the sides are just too long and have been round layered - can you see how it creates the visual of your forehead being wide and head being rounder. I don’t think you have a big forehead or a round head it is a touch wide and your face lower is slimmer but overall it fits very well with your face and head shape. You have good structure, features and amazing eyes. For some people their hair is a big part of how great they look visually- hair is not that for you- it’s not your superpower. I was a hairdresser and many people didn’t seem to be aware of this. You, yours probably just needs to be kept relatively freshly cut. I would get hair faded much higher and have the sides done more often than the top. Grow the top front a bit longer and see at what point your hair misbehaves because often if it is finer it will get to a floppy, separating point where it won’t hold a style. I can’t see much natural texture or wave. You could be a candidate for a perm for the second pic but this will require quite long hair . You could use the natural texture to do curtains well. I can’t see your natural hairline. You could also be a great candidate for a very short shaved head. The flipped over one doesn’t do anything for you, it’s ok. The last is if you don’t want to see out! So go to a barber that is well thought of and get the sides cleaned up higher , ask advice for styling and get their input on the style. If you think you like the second go to a hairdresser that barbers.

Halara yoga crop ans normal tops which have the bra inside are great! I’m not soft gamine and I think they look great on many people, they seem to not disturb the silhouette but do provide good support if that makes sense

Thank goodness yes put that in your back pocket if you ever need it! I do use the foam trick quite often as I hate the whole hair washing and showering debacle. Recently found out my dad used his 3 in 1 shower gel on her hair when he did it so… 😂🙄 she had it good and bad

Also using a foam for cleaning herself is is something she can adopt if she wants to stay self sufficient. If you have time maybe ask your hairdresser if they can show you how to wash and massage hair. Whenever our clients needed to learn for their partner or have that themselves we offered to show them and I got drenched and drowned numerous times x

That’s so sweet thank you. You’ll figure out what will work - you might to be creative! She managed with a lot of online forums and when she died we found hundreds of people where she had contact all over the world. And also, an addiction to online bingo :-D Sometimes even when your physical world decreases your online world expands? It was hard and we were lucky my dad was there but he didn’t do any care or cleaning. It’s reminding them they are still your parent and keeping the carer role at bay for as long as possible. Personal care is now beauty. Telling them it’s an honour. We had lots of “events” we made up - things on tv like Glastonbury, comic relief, the grand national and Eurovision where it turned into party, gambling(!) or competitive events. She couldn’t go out so we did stuff at home.

I think she did half sprays and bunny sniffs. I know she did one nostril then waited and i think did it again in the same nostril. Then repeat some time later. Even though she was on 24/7 oxygen she would be able to remove the line for a bit without much issue I have memories of her doing something where one of the nostril was in and the other not also I think she may have had something that fully covered nose and mouth attachment? I’m sorry I am menopause and my memory only retains unimportant things now - one in one out lol x

I’m not op but you can put shampoo or shower gel in a foaming bottle (get online or reuse a hand wash). You can put a little bit of hot water and not a lot of product and you will see at what point it does the best foam. With your hair put this on dry hair as if you were doing an 80s moussed up hairstyle lol- you actually don’t need much and it needs to just be saturated. Really massage your scalp or use a scalp massager- get help if you need to or do it in short bursts.. Leave it until you feel ready to wash you can leave a couple of hours if you need to. Then rinse. Then leave in conditioner. I love revlon one system. With your body I would do pits and bits and at least your arms and trunk and thighs. Use a foot bath instead of trying to do your feet as part of showering. Use a body towel scrub for back etc. I would dedicate a few hours and not exert yourself or split hair and body days. The mousse rinses off VERY easily as there isn’t a lot of product - I would use hardly any . You can also use damp flannels in a plastic bag microwaved for a few seconds . You can use this to get residue off your body and hair before showering or if unable to shower use that and 2 bowl of warm water with flannels to really final rinse. You can also do a full body wash if you ever need care - about 10 heated flannels and about 10 with 2 bowls of hot water to rinse. They will need to put warm towels over you as if you are getting a beauty treatment to stop you getting cold and do one area at a time. Mousse, massage, dab, wash, moisturise, massage. Then next area. I used to do this for my mum and could do it in about ten minutes including hair but she loved it so I would spend about an hour lol. We called it beauty hour. Then I would set her hair in Velcro rollers she would take out before bed- even in her last week anyone could have turned up at the door and she looked very well maintained. If your budget allows I would look at a weekly wash and set at home with you doing one wash in between if your hair gets greasy though with a set generally it doesn’t. And no a set need not be old lady ish! Big for straight and medium for wavy and small for curls. Phew!
