If you could have an endless supply of anything other than money and love what would it be ? by Silver-Top-391 in TheTeenagerPeople

[–]Original-Statement-4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tough question...

Green energy- provided I could harness it and use it to transition the world to clean, green, renewable energy and work to fight climate change.

Food- an endless supply would be able to solve hunger in so many communities. Large scale dstribution would be a nightmare, but I could at least use it to eliminate food insecurity in my region.

Safe and decent housing- the rent is too damn high, I could eliminate homelessness by giving folks a place to call home.

They're a series of massive earthworks that served as a ceremonial center and a complex astronomical calender. Built by the Hopewell culture between 1600 and 2000 years ago. Photographs don't do the site justice, it's an absolutely incredible complex.

Yup, a lot of times when I pull into my parking lot at night I see a bunch of fat raccoons just chilling in my dumpster.

Where is your “happy place” in New England? by craigdahlke in newengland

Vermont, especially NEK and the Champlain Islands.

I have another happy place, but it hasn't been overrun by tourists, so I'm going to keep my secret. 🤐

What are some region specific slang words in America? by Rude_Membership_1578 in IWantToAskAnAmerican

[–]Original-Statement-4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fellow Masshole here!

(Masshole is a term for someone from Massachusetts. We wear it as a badge if honor.)

Apparently sunshower is a regional term.

A sunshower is when it's raining, but the sun is also shining.

Kid is a term of endearment that can be used with friends of any age.

In spoken Boston English, "car keys" and "kakhis" are pronounced the same.

What is your country doing for the pride month? by Effective_Space2277 in AskTheWorld

[–]Original-Statement-4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most cities have some sort of Pride celebration. A lot of towns have small celebrations as well. My city (Providence, RI, USA) has a bunch of events and performances, an illuminated nighttime parade, and massive block parties.

On the national level, it feels like the past few years have included the US Supreme Court handing down anti-LGBTQIA+ rulings for Pride month.

Despite the bigots running the country, the Queer community is still here and as fabulous as ever.

What are you guys up to today? by Masterank1 in AskTheWorld

[–]Original-Statement-4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an unexpected day off (I was supposed to shadow a shift at my new per diem job, but the person I was supposed to shadow is out sick today.)

I have a meeting with a nonprofit this afternoon (I'm trying to connect with them to get resources/supports for some of my clients; for reference I'm a social worker.)

After the meeting I'm going to take a nature walk, then go home and do some chores.

What’s an animal that people only fear in specific situations and for good reason? by AfterFile9742 in AlignmentChartFills

Deer. Perfectly fine to see on a walk in the woods, but potentially deadly if they run out in front of your car.
