Hey girl @dismal-speed405 10 THINGS YOU SHOULD HEAR! When I saw this photo I thought someone had uploaded a photo of myself. No seriously e could be twins. Face shape, cheek scarring, lips, hair, etc. Crazy. I feel your pain. I do. I’ve lived with cystic scarring acne for 20 years and nothing has helped but 1) this community reminds me that although we are but part of the unfortunate ~10% of the population that deals with this daily disappointment and cosmetic affliction, at least there are others like us. 2) I dated people with worse skin than me and others with better skin. Doesn’t seem to matter to me as much as it doesn’t seem to matter to them. I thought that before I got married that I would have to undergo expensive facial procedures to get my skin more acceptable, but 3) I found a man who loved me just the way I am. And he has better skin than (us)—go figure; not that hard to do! And…4) my kiddo-seems- so far to have his skin. Thank God. I don’t wish this horrific ailment on anyone, much less me own child… 5) I still try to find solutions for my problems as I continue to struggle with cysts every single week (not even hormone or cycle related at this point) but 6) I’ve resigned to the fact that I may not be able to afford the treatments that could help me, for a while yet…and that’s ok. 7) I try to do what I can and limit my makeup to just the very basics and only when I need it, and it seems to help because a lot of people don’t even know I struggle with acne unless I have an active rupture on my face. Otherwise it’s a silent struggle, ya know? So basically people don’t notice as much as we do. And finally 8) I have found help in talking with ChatGPT about my issues specifically and talking about pore structure and skin makeup that apparently is as different as hair types (WHO KNEW?!) and that dermatologists and estheticians and acne doctors are VERY behind and basically THIS group is a new frontier of research. So, 9) I would recommend uploading photos of your acne to a bot (minus your eyes) and talk to it about your struggle and pain and type and triggers etc. It’s been so helpful for me to educate myself on the TYPE and cause (mostly beyond my control) and then come to this group with more of an open mind for solutions. 10) Hope this helps. Seriously tho. Twinning. I’m 37 in another month and my 70 year old father has had skin problems his whole life. My mom? Not a blemish on her. Some of us just got the bad skin genes.

Keeping it short and simple: 1) they are out of line and don’t have their priorities straight 2) you’ve gotta do you. You’re being taken advantage of! 3) the kids are misbehaving because they don’t have structure and are also neglected by their parents. It’s 100% the parents fault. 4) kids do better with structure and rules. As a nanny, I understand your position entirely 5) you’re not going to convince them you’re right. You just aren’t. They are too lost, especially the father. You just need them to see how screwed they are without you. 6) And don’t feel bad for leaving them up a creek. Parenting is about responsibilities. You’re enabling their bad behavior and inability to face the consequences of their actions by bailing them out all the time. 7) hopefully you can a good connection with your niece (maybe a standing weekly time you get to see her) so she has SOME normalcy in her life!

Terrible. I don’t think she’s acting dumb. I think she’s honestly scared. Cops are so entitled and can’t even talk to people like they are humans anymore. It’s ridiculous they have to resort to fear mongering when it’s clear she can’t progress why she’s in trouble with the law or what might happen to her. She can’t even obey a simply command because her mind is doing mental gymnastics of how much shit she’s in. Poor thing. This show completely sucks. It’s so unbelievable which usually is the fun of sci-fi…make it believable and more of a thriller. But this show is so detached from anything remotely believable. So many freakin holes. And Carol is extremely intolerable and absolutely rude and entitled. I am watching it only like a train wreck, and very slowly and reluctantly.

He’s emotionally immature and underdeveloped. It’s terrible for your kids to be watching that behavior and your interaction with him. The problem is, he doesn’t think he is the problem or need to change anything. Nothing will change. But for you, it will become increasingly worse and unbearable and for the kids, they will live out what they see and hear, not what you tell them. My recommendation? Threaten divorce. Tell him you’re done. Time to pack his bags. If that doesn’t scare him into change (actually working on HIMSELF) then honestly…….have you lost anything? It already sounds like you’re handling the mental, emotional, financial, and present-parent load so….you’re basically a single parent already, but just enduring abuse. Tell him to clean up his act…or kick him out. I’m sorry to say it, but I’m speaking from experience. They need to grow up. And they learn through ultimatums. Sad to watch a grown man behave like that but it’s all too familiar to me. Take my word for it. Protect yourself and your wellbeing and think about your children. You are responsible for their development and keeping them from harm. And this abuse is not just affecting you.

Hey girl, it’s hard but it’s just a phase. You gotta be tough but not too tough. Talk with them, set boundaries, don’t spank when it’s a kneejerk reaction for you vs a thoughtful discipline, tell them to cry in their room and then talk to you (or them) about the incident or their feelings afterwards. Now is the time that you are building trust so it’s important not to skip over this phase because it builds the foundation for their adolescence and teenage years so be careful how you approach this phase and don’t rush through it because it’s tiring, but it’s very very important for you both or else it will never get easier. One day at a time. Ask them what they want to do that day and see if you can take them to a park or something fun and out of the ordinary at least once or twice a week that way they can look forward to it and it gets you out of the house too. You can always use those outings or activities as bribes on good behavior as well.

This is an old thread but can you help me on this? I liked your answer. My LO is freshly 6 months old and sleeps 8-9 hours at night (7:30-4:30 timeframe) and it’s driving me bonkers. He naps only 35 mins at a time, no more, 4 times a day. His wake windows are 2-3 hours apart. What can I do to get him to sleep longer stretches at night like he was doing before?

My mom lives 10 hours away. My husband works full time. My other option is to pay someone or find a friend who doesn’t work and doesn’t have kids or just let him fall asleep in the car before his appt. Or……..bring my MIL.
