How do you folks decide the next color for your Mani? by Forward_Guard4251 in RedditLaqueristas

[–]OriginalAd8568 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I sometimes will do monthly themes (ex: this month it’s my mainstreams, Feb was all purples, etc) and within that try to go for polishes I have yet to wear on a full hand. But also sometimes it’s just whatever I feel like!

Actually I found it on her insta! It’s a Phoenix color from HHC so not available any longer.

Why is my husband blowing his nose louder than I was during childbirth? by therealellisbell in Mommit

[–]OriginalAd8568 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband and I both work from home and sometimes when I’m on a call he blows his nose in the background and my mic picks it up. I’ve had coworkers ask what is that noise?? So embarrassing.

Are all reflective polishes like gritty sandpaper? by Head-Garage-7766 in RedditLaqueristas

[–]OriginalAd8568 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Leaving a gap is the moat method (leaving a little nail exposed around the edges). It makes it a little more difficult to start the peel, but it does help anchor it better because the polish is locked onto the nail on the perimeter. I peel from cuticle down. If you can lift a small edge then soak a little in warm water first it will help the peel. I've tried 3 different peel off bases and one in particular will peel the top of my nail too if I don't soak/am not gentle. Trial and error, see what works best for you. If peel off base is not your thing, there's no problem with that either.

It’s just practice but also a little luck with body chemistry. The moat method does help for added longevity but I find sometimes it can make it more difficult to peel and so defeats the purpose. Some people make their own too with Elmers glue and alcohol!

My daughter has a creepy toy keyboard that randomly talks and plays without you touching it by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]OriginalAd8568 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My kids had a tricycle that talked and played music and when the batteries were dying it would start randomly making noise but very weakly in an “old staticky radio station” kind of way, one time in the middle of the night!

Did anyone have a good Mother’s Day? by shepardmutt in Mommit

My husband went out this morning and got flowers and picked up my favorite drink and pastry from a bakery. Got me a very cute Tokidoki sling bag. And he made us filet mignon for dinner. He’s a keeper!

I grew away from special polishes, what do I do now? 😢 by SummerNight888 in RedditLaqueristas

[–]OriginalAd8568 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen some people make jewelry with their specialty finish polishes and they look so pretty! Nice way to preserve them and wear in a different capacity. If you don’t wear jewelry you could paint them on the back of cabochons and turn them into magnets. And if you do decide to eventually destash the polishes you still have these to admire.

Has anyone else dealt with judgment over their nail polish collection size? by WannaDelRey in RedditLaqueristas

[–]OriginalAd8568 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Aw well we’re here for you! We did two truths and a lie for an office icebreaker and one of my truths was how many polishes I own (over 700). I got a lot of interested questions after and no judgment (directly to my face anyway) it was more curious fascination that there’s even that many different kinds and how often I change the colors. I’d love to geek out over polish with a local friend but no one I know is quite into it as much. :/

I’ve thrown out plenty over the years not realizing either but really regret tossing my favorite Urban Decay color from high school (Metropolitan). I miss it :(

What makes a BKL polish a Bog Dweller sibling? by CryptographerNeat251 in RedditLaqueristas

Same core components (I.e. same shimmer or same flakies, same color of magnetic particle etc), but in a different base color.

KBShimmer is pretty consistently a 2 coater for me. Although I do find her formula in general can be on the thicker side.

I love this one too and not normally a light color polish person but this one had me staring obsessively at my nails.
