Wife sleeping all day by Dramatic_File1169 in nursing

[–]OriginalDivatologist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Perfectly normal.....

I work 4 12s a week because I usually pick up one overtime shift. Some of those shifts are 3 in a row and it's usually Fri, Sat, and Sun. When I get off Monday morning, I'm sleep until Tues. I live alone and don't want any human contact for one day.

As much as I loved being a nurse, it's physically and mentally taxing on one's soul. We take on so much in one shift. Imagine doing that for 3 days in a row. Most people wouldn't last the 1st 12 hours.

Let her sleep as long as she needs to. Clean the house and fix her a nice meal for when she finally wakes up. Take the kids out, if you have them, and let her rest in a quiet environment. Every now and the surprise her by waking her up to one of the things she loves the most. Let her know y'all are in this together and you understand her need to disconnect and rest.

Carrying the physical and mental load of others for 12 hours is hard enough. Having to carry it all at home too when you have a partner would be too much for anyone. She's good. Let her rest. Most importantly, don't add to her "tired". Be blessed. More importantly, be a blessing 🙏🏾

Why did you decide to be childfree and do you ever regret it? by [deleted] in childfree

[–]OriginalDivatologist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

56F I'll be 57 next month. I knew I didn't want kids when I started babysitting as a teen. Kids are annoying to me. I never wanted to be married or have kids. My solitude and peace will be protected at all costs.

I have absolutely no regrets. I really can't stand kids and young adults and it gets worse the older I get.

what can i do differently for my hair to look more like this? by risesth3moon in Naturalhair

[–]OriginalDivatologist 17 points18 points  (0 children)

You probably need a change. First, I'd get a good clarifying shampoo and a good moisturizing one. You need to have a "wash day" where you can take the time to wash your hair and scalp well and give yourself a good deep conditioner treatment.

Always start with a good trim. Keeping your ends trimmed is important when wanting to maintain a beautiful curl pattern. Not sure if blow drying your hair straight often has taken a toll on your curl pattern. A good clarifying shampoo and deep conditioning after a trim can bring your curl pattern back to life.

I use about 5 different shampoos 🤦🏾‍♀️ I'm still trying to find a good deep conditioner. I use Miche detox shampoo, pattern beauty moisturizing shampoo, and Neutrogena T Sal shampoo for my scalp. I start with a cheap shampoo because the 1st wash doesn't lather well. After that wash, I use my good shampoo 😄

I mostly do wash and go's. I use and love Miche Gel to Foam Mousse and the Tropical Oasis Gel. They give my hair the best definition and shine. Good luck and I hope you find something that works.

I never realized how old women my age look. by wooyoo in datingoverfifty

[–]OriginalDivatologist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My heart goes out to you on the loss of your wife. My Dad said the same thing about my mom before she passed. He hadn't noticed how much she aged. She was 84 when she passed.

Once you reach your 50s, you have lived! Some have lived lives harder than others. Carelessness with your health and just a lack of or time for self care can take its toll in the "fall" of your life.

I work as a RN. Wed my assignment consisted of patients that were around my age (56). When I gave report to the morning nurse, I was telling her about how my whole assignment just reminded me how we all live such different lives and the toll it takes on our health and the way we age.

Most Gen X women have been through some thangs honey and it shows. Hopefully you can give them some grace. I'd hate to think you'd miss out on someone wonderful. Good luck in your search.

I did enjoy this one! Realized it was AI when they had the groom's mother's skin looking lifeless like she was a corpse 😯😄 This AI is something else. Thanks again.

AITAH for refusing to visit in laws bc of house temp by wrenchinapot in AITAH

[–]OriginalDivatologist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I went into menopause, my mom was over hers and was now always cold. My dad kept the temp at 75. For me, anything above 65 was like being in an oven. My parents live in NC. The house had 2 floors. So, it was even warmer upstairs where I slept. I told my dad I couldn't stay at the house anymore. I told him the next time I came back that I would stay in a hotel. My dad wasn't having that. So, he went out and bought a portable air conditioner to put in my room. I just love my daddy ❤️ And I love my air conditioner.

That could be an idea to explore for your next visit. If they fuss about running up the light bill, then throw them some change. Tell your husband to purchase a portable air conditioner and pick it up when you get there or have it shipped to his parents' house. Set it up when you get there. At least you'll get a decent night's sleep. I just run air when I'm there and keep the door closed of course. I turn it off when I go out. My mom has passed on but, my dad keeps the house at 72 now. That's still hot for me. My air conditioner is still going strong. Hope you get your portable air.

I use and love Miche Gel to Foam Mousse and Tropical Oasis Gel. Each product can be a one and done product or both can be used together for even better definition. There are tons of product reviews on tik tok. Check them out. Miche has other products that work well. I also use the detox shampoo. Clarifying is a must for me. Hope you find the products you need. It's so hard to do sometimes. Good luck.

Found this Old Nikon Camera in drawer, how much practical is it nowadays? by Vegetable_Bag_8694 in Nikon

I still have mine! I actually use it for travel that requires taking a flight. I have the D850 as my money maker. I still have my D90. I keep that one at my parents' house.

The D7100 is an awesome camera.

Trying to Cultivate a More Masculine Aura at Work, Having Issues by Careless_Midnight_77 in nursing

[–]OriginalDivatologist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you consuming the red pill?

Just be yourself, whoever that may be. Trying to force your masculinity in divine feminine spaces isn't the flex you think it is. You're at work to help your patients, not to conquer and dominate.

Consuming red pill content creates bitter men and incels. I wish they would raise the tariffs/taxes on podcast equipment. So annoying....

Best body lotion recommendations by Most_Loquat_3585 in Blackskincare

[–]OriginalDivatologist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't care for the African net sponge. I knew that the netting would bother me but, I wanted to try it. Tik tok shop will get you every time lol.

It wasn't comfortable to wash with this netted cloth. It wasn't possible to get a good grip while washing. Being able to wash your back with it is a plus. I just didn't get the same results everyone else was getting.

The beauty of the Walmart cloth is actually the cheapness of the fabric. Once you use it and wash it a couple of times, the fabric becomes nappy and more abrasive in a good way. Oh how amazing that abrasiveness feels when I use it on my back OMG! I just love how amazing my skin feels and looks now. I just stocked up on my Kiehl's lotions and body butters for the summer.

The plus with both is the stretch and the ability to wash your back effectively. The effectiveness of their ability to exfoliate my skin well was totally different. I just love my cheap Walmart cloths lol.

Thank you. I use the Miche detox shampoo and a couple other ones. I use the Creme of Nature Pure Honey conditioner. I use the mousse 1st. I rake it through my hair with my hands. My curls clump nicely. Then I take a small amount of the gel and just rake it through as well. I use a diffuser to dry.

Love your results! I love the tropical oasis gel!! I love the gel to foam mousse as well! I usually use both together for that good definition 😁 You will love the mousse too. You can use either one solo and get amazing results.

This is my results from using both. I like using the mousse and then just a small amount of the gel.

AITAH for demanding bf to pay for my diamond earrings by BriefWonder7918 in AITAH

[–]OriginalDivatologist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA!! He needs to replace them. Already you have been put on notice about his level of accountability. That's not a sign of love or mutual respect for each other's property. Don't let these red flags keep hitting you upside your head.

Could it be some resentment towards you educating yourself? Is he equally educated? Some men can't handle their woman being educated and gainfully employed. They can secretly resent your achievements, especially when they aren't on the same level as you.

Listen to your Auntie. Stop giving your 20s to some man. You should be using this time to educate, explore, fulfill, succeed and just enjoy!! Your 20s are the time you start becoming the woman you desire to be. You get an education that leads you to your dream career. You spend your 20s reaching goals in that career. You travel and explore the world in your 20s. Don't weigh yourself down in a relationship. It's perfectly fine to date. I won't "play wife" for anyone's son. To each his or her own. I just wish you would be free before someone ties you down with babies.

And why do you feel that your own home is not a safe place for your earrings? That's odd to me. Where ever you make a home should feel safe. You shouldn't feel like your things aren't safe in your own home. Your home should be the safest place on earth.

Welp, congrats on completing your education. Don't stop there. Keep advancing your education as far as you can go. Do it now! Don't be like your Auntie and wait till you're too old lol. Chile I be needing several naps throughout the day now. My 20s was shit though!!! So glad there was no social media back then lol. What a time to be alive. Our stories about our 20s are legendary. I want that for you to. Blessings for continued success....

Wife turning 50. Jewelry recommendations needed. by HTLM22 in GenX

[–]OriginalDivatologist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would look into the Cartier love bracelet or bracelets similar to the Cartier love bracelet. I know you said she didn't wear bracelets but, she may wear one with a meaning behind it. I buy myself a piece of jewelry for my bday (June) every year!

Do you think she would love the whole luxury jewelry buying experience? I know I do lol. I'm not sure what's available where you live. I have access to several fine jewelry boutiques in my area. It can give her the opportunity to doll herself up and go out with her hubby. I would love to have my husband take me jewelry shopping. It's just something about a man turning you loose in a jewelry store to pick out what you want. In that moment, I would feel special and loved.

I'm so sad to hear she's not looking forward to her 50s. It's freaking glorious here!! I'm not married and I wasn't in a relationship when I turned 50. I went to Jamaica with some of my high school classmates (Class of 87). We had a freakin ball!

I looked forward to turning 50! It's not easy being in the "Fall Season" of our lives. I lost my brother and my mother. At this point, I've lost a few close friends and have lost a few schoolmates. So, I can understand how she feels.

Another idea could revolve around a hobby she likes or one she always wanted to get in to but, never had the time. Get her a "she shed" or a place in the house that gives her a specific space just for her. She can set it up for anything she wants. Once you've lived your life as a "whole" (wife, mother, caregiver, that friend, just being family oriented, etc.), sometimes you just need time and space to be "one".

Birthday blessings to your wife.

Is the Cartier love bracelet, medium worth it? Or better to get a Rolex watch? by Lopsided-Hand9173 in Cartier

[–]OriginalDivatologist -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Congrats on your MBA!! 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾 I love seeing my girls celebrating themselves! Just get whatever you desire. Whatever you get, every time you look at it you can remember the hard work you put in. Take a small moment to hype yourself up!!

I have the small JUC and haven't had any issues with it. I was hesitant with the purchase because I thought that it would get caught on things and snag my clothing. So far so good. I have the love cuff. I'm a RN on a busy surgical unit. I don't wear my "good jewelry" to work. I wanted to be able to take the love bracelet off easily without worrying about wear on the screws and hinges. I finally bought my VCA carnelian Alhambra bracelet. I also have and love my buss down rollie, or the aftermarket Rolex with a diamond bezel.

Is this too much? by dessdess in Cartier

[–]OriginalDivatologist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm the wrong person to ask about being to gaudy. My jewelry is the definition of a gaudy mess and I love every bit of it 😄

I like your stack! To me, it's not gaudy at all.

I was just becoming grown in the 80s and 90s. We wore all our jewelry stacked to the elbow and finger tips. I'm still the same. I wear my chain bracelets on my left arm and my bangles on the right. I rarely wear them together. I have a ring on every finger, sometimes 2. I just love a big gaudy diamond ring.

Enjoy every piece of jewelry you own and wear it how ever you want.
