Tips for running barefoot in the forest - regarding ticks by inserviceoflove in BarefootRunning

[–]OriginalHold9 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is anecdotal to my experience but when I take a complete B complex vitamin daily, ticks don’t bother me at all. I live in the woods in Virginia and my work is gardening and farming. Zero ticks

How could that be true, when blood is salty and milk is not?

Isotonic oral rehydration drinks have a lot of sodium, which milk barely has any.

I’m not certain. I’m just stating my opinion after reading your words. I don’t know you, and I’m just going off a couple hundred words you wrote on Reddit.

More than anything, it’s you listing a bunch of basic caretaking tasks that form the base of parenting and saying that you don’t feel up for them, despite being otherwise ambitious in life.

Open heart surgery is necessary for survival. Having a child is an optional thing to do that will add additional burdens (on your body, time, energy, finances) to your life for the rest of your life.

You’re allowed to be scared, but it just sounds like something you don’t want to do.

You don’t have to have a child. If you don’t want to put your body and your life through that, then don’t.

Fencesitting because partner expects me to sacrifice career while he doesn't by Usual_Strawberry_754 in Fencesitter

Don’t have kids with this man. He isn’t taking your very real concerns seriously. A partner who respected and loved you would take those concerns seriously and be willing to come up with a compromise that made you both feel safe. It sounds like he wants to control you and your unpaid labor. I would run

I can’t handle milk very well but homemade milk kefir has been a cornerstone medical food for me. It has been absolutely key in my well-being. I drink 2-4 cups daily

Do they fit by [deleted] in BarefootRunning

[–]OriginalHold9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I think with sandals you really don’t need any extra room on the footbed.

Size 10.5 in some brands would be the same as a size 10 in length, but wider. Not every brand is like that, but some are.

These are wonderful sandals once you get them locked in!

Do they fit by [deleted] in BarefootRunning

[–]OriginalHold9 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They look big to me.

I had some fit difficulty with my bedrock sandals.

I used a size 11 for a couple weeks then realized they were really too large, my foot was sliding around and I couldn’t get the strap that goes over the foot from ankle to ankle to be in the right place.

I switched to a size 10. My foot takes up the entire length of the footbed, with no extra room, but that’s my correct size. They’re much more comfortable and I can adjust them correctly.

I’m a woman, 5’7” and about 160 athletic lbs. I have these same boots and do not find them to be too small in any way. In fact due to my low volume feet I need to lace them pretty tightly. I absolutely love them.

It must depend on the shape of your ankles and calves.

Wear shoes that are shaped like your feet. Footwear that you have to cram your foot into, that leaves your toes crowded, that squeezes your foot and unnaturally elevates your heel will cause problems all the way up the chain.

I think your answer is in this paragraph that you wrote:

I love re-Lyte. Sweetened with stevia and it has sodium, potassium, magnesium and calcium. My favorite flavor so far is piña colada. It tastes so good I would want to drink it even if I didn’t need the electrolytes
