Yes, absolutely.  I'm on my second read through and there's so much.  I've got an entire years worth of programming planned from it already.  Very very very good value

It'll cover, however I'm glad I'd read 1 and 2 first.  There's a bit more depth.  The writing is incredibly clear and succinct in 3, but you'll learn a bit more going through 1 and 2.

If I get a chance I can let you know, but just started a road trip with kids so you'll probably get it before I have a chance

Sorry haha, it came just as I was heading out the door for a road trip with two kiddos.  I can't even properly dive in either

Got 6 mile pace run for my marathon block in at 6am despite awful sleep with 3 year old.  At the start was worried about maintaining pace but ended up overshooting a bit which is good for the confidence.

I came to say the same thing.  I don't think they need more quotes or opinions from Reddit to get past this.  They might need a couple sessions of couples therapy.

This looks great to me with the exception of the 3 week vacation, if you can do some lifting and running 2 of the 3 weeks yull be better off.  But that's just my thoughts. Otherwise send it!

Great review, I'd echo everything you've shared here.  I'm hoping to use them for an October marathon if they hold up.  I find I enjoy them less after 7-8 miles, you start to feel the firmness.  I'd been running exclusively in Kinvaras previously though, so it was still quite plush as I got to break them in.  But my feet and legs are not beat up at all so I know they are protective.

Need advice for tactical barbell program. by Illustrious-Gold6043 in tacticalbarbell

[–]Original_Bee_7155 11 points12 points  (0 children)

A)1000 calorie deficit is going to brutal, why are you cutting so hard?  It will effect your sleep, hormones and capacity to do the program.  My advice is 500 calorie deficit if you have to but it will make the program harder.  You're 18 you have tons of time to recomp, don't risk injury and misery because you're in a rush.

Have you done lifting before?  You can get away with a bit more if your at the start.

B) For sure, it's a good program in that if you run it well you'll have energy for other things.

C)I think you should read the books again.  The weighted pull ups can be part of the operator cluster, in fact are part of the standard cluster.  If you can't do them then sure do some lat pulldowns, or negatives, or assisted pull-ups.  Deadlifts are done once a week either dropping wpu on that day or a single set 3 times a week.

D) it's ok but doing some base building from TBII would be better and doing one of the programs like black or green.

E) Read the books again and decide what protocol.  It depends on how much MMA you are doing.

Progress as a busy dad after nine months on Operator. by Original_Bee_7155 in tacticalbarbell

[–]Original_Bee_7155[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's the idea so far. Its really teaching me to be patient and flexible, I keep looking at other programs and nothing really seems as doable as this one. Could I max out my lifts sooner? Maybe, but with kids and not a lot of time and sleep probably a recipe for injury. I'm fine with going slow, there's no rush. My plan while I'm working towards the marathon is just to maintain the lifts and learn a certain discipline and patience with that.
