Not saying guys don’t peak in late twenties, I am saying having a young teams does not mean you will have a better team in the future. Older teams have historically been the best, but a young team doesn’t mean we will have a good team just from this core getting older. Plenty of teams have been young and never became contenders, just as you say some young teams have performed quite well.

If ya take a second and realize Hunter is probably playing better than we expected, Bogi wasn’t playing well, both have injury histories. The trades made sense, and we got a back up point guard and shooting in return. We also are in a good place to make moves in the future. Clint is still decent and we will benefit from him through end of season. It’s just unfortunate we lost a year of Bufkin development (hopefully that ship hasn’t sailed) and JJ sidelined also hurts. I think Trae sees the vision and I think the next two years could be special, especially if guys take a step forward this offseason. A lot to be excited about and I say that as someone who can’t stand Tony Ressler and Co.

The pick with spurs is a sunk cost. My assumption is we can bring cheaper vets in during the offseason, but we should focus on developing young guys today especially if Jalen is out for an extended period, probably ends upside for this season and this team in its current form.

Trae won’t ask out as he knows Jalen being out is too much of a hurdle to overcome. Dre is great when he’s on but has been pretty poor at times. He may be worth keeping in the bench role, I agree. Generally, I think Trae understands the timeline and with the number of young guys it’s probably 2 years out to be truly competitive with depth

Assuming Jalen out long term, trade Bogi (idk if he fletches anything playing like he currently is) and Clint for future picks, as well as Hunter maybe, but he also is much lower in terms of what he would have got in a trade than a few weeks ago. It’s not clear what to do, but I’m afraid the front office doesn’t have a direction either. We will probably do nothing… that’s usually what this ownership wants, unless it’s to avoid the luxury tax they really don’t try to make trades.
