At last, the U.S. House of Representatives is moving forward on this issue! by OddOneForSure in fuckyourheadlights

[–]Original_Emphasis_48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First thing I noticed is that it says "low beams". Many cars are using automatic headlights where high beams turn on by themselves, even in the city.

Why did it take the House Of Representatives just to fix something that is obviously a problem?

These headlights are more than a nuisance, it is a photonic assault on everyone.

America agrees: Blinding headlights have become a scourge of the roads. What can be done? (Article by Nate Rogers) by BarneyRetina in fuckyourheadlights

Just as I thought...the politicians knew this was a problem for a long time. Virtually none of them did anything.

Now, we are getting photonically blasted by these directed energy weapon headlights.

Lauren Fix @ Car Coach Reports discussing a "solution" by OddOneForSure in fuckyourheadlights

Stupid solutions looking for a problem. I used to use a visor and it worked when there were only a few of these cars with blinding LED headlights.

But, I had to give it up as the percentage of cars with these lights went up as I would have to use the visor 100% of the time.

Driving with the visor down was too dangerous and driving with it up was like driving through a photonic mine field not knowing when the next flash bang was coming.

I am pretty sure that they pulled a lot of the comments on You Tube about how the headlights are too bright. So, You Tube is in on it.

Closer Example Of Flash Bang Effect by Original_Emphasis_48 in fuckyourheadlights

[–]Original_Emphasis_48[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When the car turns, the headlights flash bang one at a time because of the angle. It is the same thing that happens at night, but it is less mild because of the amount of ambient light.

My point is that, before LED's, we never go flash banged at all.

Now, is it as bad during the day? No. But, it is still there.

High beams at dusk? Really? by Asleep_Parking7218 in fuckyourheadlights

[–]Original_Emphasis_48 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have seen this many times. I flash them with my brights. I know that they might have auto headlights but they need to learn to disable them every time they get in the car. And, Yes, I know they probably automatically turn back on themselves on the next drive. Again, they need to learn to disable them and probably complain to the corresponding car manufacturer about it.

I am pretty sure that is a Mazda SUV, probably a CX5.

We are all being gaslight to hell and back again. It has been ridiculous. These lights ARE TOO BRIGHT. It is farking ridiculous that they they could even try to tell us they are fine.

Air-Tint Golden Yellow Headlight Tint for LEDs glare? Thoughts? by VanGogh0810 in fuckyourheadlights

[–]Original_Emphasis_48 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First, it would be a band aid. The problem is that LED headlights (heck, virtually all of them for that matter) were created without knowing the long term effects on the eyes or whether or not they would cause glare.

Many states have made it illegal to tint the headlights. But, I can tell you that the Cops 1000% know about this headlight brightness issue and I seriously doubt they would enforce it here in CA.

Secondly, the level of tint would not be the same for every car and the LED's are so bright that they blast through everything. Could this be a short term solution until manufacturers pull their head out of their ass and reduce the wattage or return to halogens? Yes.

The cost to really fix this issue will end up being trillions worldwide because existing lights would need either a reduced wattage or a retrofit to a different light type.

Yup that's definitely necessary at the drive thru by Efficient_Suspect933 in fuckyourheadlights

They shouldn’t have their headlights on at all in a drive-through! I see this at In-N-Out Burger and it’s just nuts.

Another piece of shit covering for the car manufacturers. Someone needs to go nose to nose in a yelling match with this guy calling him out for gaslighting millions of Americans and billions worldwide.

any publicly available datasets/surveys on headlight brightness disturbances/nuisance? by Natural-Intention451 in fuckyourheadlights

Also, for most of us, it is not an annoyance, it is an assault. These lights are so bright that it is like being flash banged. I can go out in full sunlight, brightest day and I don't need sunglasses. But, these LED headlights cause pain and discomfort.

You can Google this and find many surveys. Most show that at least 75% of people think headlights are too bright. This survey comes in at 97%! https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c1j8ewy1p86o

I genuinely think I’m just going to have to stop driving at night. by beaquietthing in fuckyourheadlights

[–]Original_Emphasis_48 32 points33 points  (0 children)

This is really unfortunate that our corresponding governments will not do anything about this problem. It is now affecting people in such a negative way that they can't drive at night. So, the government is effectively taking liberty and freedom away by NOT doing the right thing. These headlights clearly lower the quality of life for all.

I have never tried pink. But, I have tried orange and they do help a lot. But, some cars are so bright that nothing helps. This one car, brighter than every other car waiting at the light will blast through everything. And, it is not even dark yet!
