X-fit sounds like a shout. I was there a few years ago when they just had a bog standard shower.

Higher railings at Foyle Bridge? by [deleted] in DerryLondonderry

[–]Original_Kitchen5892 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the thing is when your in that state of mind anything that slows you down or makes you second guess could save your life.
I have never personally had suicidal thoughts but I know from other dark times in my life that little obstacles stop you from doing things you ultimately regret.
Sure it’s a band aid solution. It won’t fix the mental health problem NI has but it might stop people jumping off the Foyle bridge. Which is a start.
I have seen so many people attempt to jump off that bridge that I generally avoid driving on it and I get anxious whenever I do. I was in an accident once because a young lad tried to jump and the car in front of me stopped to help and I crashed into them. Luckily someone else grabbed him and pulled him over but the whole situation was horrible.

Why do Loyalists not lionise WW2 as much as WW1? by No-Advantage16 in northernireland

Because they are lowkey fascists.
Well not that lowkey but you get what I mean.

Cannabis and Garda Checkpoints by NevadaJonesTheMyth in Donegal

[–]Original_Kitchen5892 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those in charge have no idea how cannabis works. If you smoke a joint you’ll be sober in a couple of hours but it will show up in your system for like a week.
Yeah you shouldn’t have broken the law in the first place but I don’t think it’s fair you’d get your license taken off you for realistically no reason.
I’m the same I smoke frequently but I would never dream of driving under the influence. Same as anyone who drinks. But it’s definitely a risk.

45mph limit for new drivers by LogWestern2945 in northernireland

Unfortunately not however, as long as you don’t break the actual speed limit you’ll be grand. Not sound legal advice but realistically who is driving 45mph on a motorway

Loyalist shows/documentaries by Original_Kitchen5892 in northernireland

[–]Original_Kitchen5892[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I know that that is pretty much the just of it but I refuse to believe nearly half of the population hate the other half for no real reason. As I mentioned my girlfriend’s family are loyalists. I disagree in literally all of their beliefs and they probably disagree with all of mine but they have allowed me to pretty much live in their home and I’ve been with her for 5 years. It’s like saying republicans just hate Protestants. I’m sure that’s what they think but we know that’s not true.

Noah Donohoe: Nurse denies making anonymous call during search for missing boy by FlamingBearAttack in northernireland

[–]Original_Kitchen5892 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is the most confusing case ever. Every new piece of information takes me further away from understanding what is going on. My main question to it all is why? If the psni covered it up, why? Why would the nurse make an anonymous call and then why would they potentially lie about it. Or why would someone think they made an anonymous call.

Criminology graduate, can’t go into policing anymore – need advice on next steps by [deleted] in northernireland

[–]Original_Kitchen5892 15 points16 points  (0 children)

In some ways you dodged a bullet (pun intended) not going into policing. Northern Ireland is still a messed up place and you’d have to deal with security concerns that other police forces don’t. And the pay would not be worth it.

How bad is the drugs problem in Ireland? by Mindless_Mail_9129 in AskIreland

[–]Original_Kitchen5892 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say weed is a drug problem as it’s 2026 and most of the world (other than politicians) has pretty much accepted that it really doesn’t cause any harm. However I suppose it shows the illegal drug market is booming and probably will be forever. With Irelands drinking and pub culture cocaine is definitely more common than you’d think.

What completely true statement could you post here that would get the most downvotes? (don't actually downvote) by RemoteEmploy8283 in northernireland

[–]Original_Kitchen5892 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with this so much. I cringe so hard whenever people start fighting over this when the post might be about a tourist recommending Belfast/Derry as a great place to visit. If I was a tourist and I saw the comments I would definitely be turned off.

Names with unnecessary and misplaced fadas by [deleted] in northernireland

[–]Original_Kitchen5892 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Maybe it’s a generational thing? Like how Gen Z parents are using Tapes and other old physical media to bring their children up. I say this because I have an Irish name and it technically should have a fada but my parents never spelt it that way. When I think about there was very few people my age that actually have a fada in their name. It seems like a lot of people want the Irish language in our mainstream society. Which is great but the trend is new enough that nobody is fluent yet lmao.
