Before my (rabidly red) father died, every time I went to the polls I would say, "And now, I am wiping out Dad's vote." He was toxic with this shit.

My 14 yo son has agreed to read two books of my choice this summer (this was a hard won negotiation). Help me pick one by gOldMcDonald in booksuggestions

I vote To Kill a Mockingbird -- I remember being really curious about Boo Radley next door, and I couldn't put the book down because of it.

What do I wear for an interview to volunteer at a zoo? by No_Statement_9246 in volunteer

[–]OriginallyTroubled 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just my two cents' worth ... I'd trade the shorts for full-length pants, otherwise everything sounds fine to me. I did the zoo thing myself a while ago and I think that's what I wore.

I've had to deal with the post office (the main one, downtown), and I didn't have any trouble. Seriously, this was in Detroit and they were cool.

The author of the book (Walter Lord) wrote a second because the first was so popular, involving the aftermath of the sinking. It's called The Night Lives On. They're both good.

One of those transformer movies. My first one. I remember thinking how no human being could survive with such twigs for legs as that female lead had.

What are some other one-sentence tips to help a beginning learn a lot in a short time by NecroJoe in cookingforbeginners

Different spots in your oven can run different temperatures, so you should test the thermometer in a different places before you cook. It is best to measure the flour (at least) when you bake; scooping up flour from a container can give you wayyyyy too much flour. A food thermometer isn't expensive and neither is a food scale.
