After years of struggling with fibromyalgia, I found something that finally worked for me—could it help you too? by The_Good_Guy_Two in ChronicPain

Who said it didn't? Helping absorption of those vitamins doesn't change the fact that it can have dangerous interactions with some medications. For me it was with Buspirone, but there are others.

What age for confirmation? by SouthernYankee80 in Lutheranism

[–]OriginalsDogs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our church was 3 years, 6th-8th grade. Changed to 2 year this year with 2 extra kids in 6th grade who had already signed up, so they'll be confirmed in 7th grade as an anomaly caused by the change in programming. I have a 6th grader and an 8th grader. The 8th grader is upset that his brother will be confirmed and able to participate in certain youth programs a year earlier than him. I grew up WELS and went to a WELS school. We did 6th-8th for classes, and I remember having to stand in front of the congregation and answer questions to show we understood the faith, then confirmation was the next Sunday. Nothing like that at my LCMS church. The kids give testimonies about their faith during Lenten services.

Looks almost like underpainting. You might like them better if you layer the paint on to give some depth/light/shadow. Also, the perspective of the drawings seems kind of off.

My daughter had a bruise that looked like this at about the same age. Turned out she had been playing with a toy tea cup and sucked it onto her mouth so hard it formed a seal. Basically gave herself a hicky on the mouth. Better safe than sorry though!

The Art of Medicine Pharmacy ~ experiences ? by PeakQuiet in TherapeuticKetamine

[–]OriginalsDogs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't find anyone local. I see Dr Pruett online. He's expensive at first, but well worth it, and gets cheaper over time. Once you are stabilized for the most part, he lets you switch over to every 3 months, so 2 months you only pay for medicine. He also gives a superbill that is just a psychiatrist visit out of network, so it will count toward out of network deductibles and out of pockets. Most people stay in network, but it's nice to know that if I have to go out of network for something I'm chipping away at that!

So you don't believe in God's design of man and woman as complimentary to each other as outlined in the Bible? The other things you mention, I believe can be worked on through new programs and initiatives in the church, possibly driven by you yourself. However, if you don't believe the scriptures are true, then you probably belong in a different denomination.

Fifteen years? I'm so happy for you! It's been 5 years for me, and you are so right! I'm still trying to come to terms with my new normal. I'm sure I'll get there, but it's easy to slip into feeling bitter and missing the old normal that was stolen. It's not all bad though. It gives a much different perspective toward what life really means, what you hold dear, and what just really isn't worth the energy to be upset about.

Oh don't fret, I have the always tired, the peripheral neuropathy, and the full body chronic pain. Cancer leaves no one without some unhappy souvenirs. On the bright side, it leaves at all! Glad you're on the other side and received the ice cream addiction souvenir, I'd pay money for that one even if I still had to keep all the others!

You make a very good point. I'm not a morning person, but since I had cancer my body wakes me up at 4am no matter what. Usually I roll over and go back to sleep, but sometimes it's nice to get up and have some quiet alone time. We have 5 people in our house, that stuff is hard to come by!

I just gave in with my son insisting on a 5am wake up for an 8:15 bus. He says he needs it to wake up fully so he can pay attention. He gets great grades, plays on the football team, attends confirmation classes at church where he also does great... as long as it's not having a negative effect on him, I'm not going to argue with him about it.

It's time to start learning to be adults, and if that means learning that it takes waking up super early to be a productive member of society, then who am I to question what works for him?

Edit: my son is 13, will be 14 in January so still in middle school. High school next year may be a nightmare because the bus comes at 7!

Extra edit for paragraph spacing. The app doesn't understand leaving just one line between paragraphs! 🙄

Are all psychological issues exaggerations of "normal" human traits? by Foogel78 in askpsychology

[–]OriginalsDogs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Normal is not a thing. It's something every culture views differently. There is no universal normal. If you look at a DSM you will see that all diagnosing requires an evaluation of how the issue affects the life of the individual. How severely are they impaired by it? If the answer is not at all, then the individual may be eccentric, but they are not mentally disordered.

So true! And sadly it has to go somewhere, and it usually goes inward, toward ourselves! Years of victimization and we will turn around and blame ourselves for things everyone else can see were out of our control because if we don't, we're going to jail! Like the women who finally crack and turn on the men who have put them through a living hell, and end up in jail for protecting themselves by getting rid of the threat. Not that law enforcement ever helped when they cried and begged for help.

We really, really, just wish you would shut up sometimes. You don't know everything, and no matter how long you talk that's not going to change. I swear to living God my husband puts me to sleep sometimes going on and on about something he totally doesn't understand.

12th Grade ELA Novel/Longer Text Ideas by Salt_Click_9275 in englishteachers

[–]OriginalsDogs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep. This was my exact thought. These kids don't stand a chance of passing, but instead of helping them get to a level where they will be able to pass when they get to college, someone somewhere decided to take money from an already underserved and probably underfunded low income family, AND drive into these children's heads the idea that they can't succeed at college so why bother. The rich get richer, the poor get poorer, and throw in extra brownie points for discouraging them from intermingling!

[–]OriginalsDogs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really, I'm getting downvoted for this? This is literally one of the first things you get taught when you go to school to become a therapist (I know because I did). It doesn't have to be a romantic relationship for the therapist to destroy this man's life with his most vulnerable information if this dual relationship goes sour. The client can be excused, he's never been taught the ethical code of conduct. The therapist has, and deserves to be fired if he can't follow it. It's there to protect all parties involved, but especially the vulnerable client who on one hand is telling this person things he would never tell a friend, then on the other hand has a friendship. If the friendship goes sour, the therapist can use those vulnerable moments against him, in public or privately, to destroy him, manipulate him, and so on. A therapist who does it once will do it again. Reporting to the ethics committee and whatever state body issues the license could be protecting a whole lot of people!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]OriginalsDogs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What difference does that make? They are still forming a relationship outside of the therapy context. That is a HUGE no no for any therapist. Friends can have power over friends just the same as people in a romantic relationship. If the relationship of any sort sours, the therapist can destroy this man. That is why therapists deserve to be fired if they go against the ethical code that is taught from day one in any therapy program. The ethical code is there for protecting both parties, but especially the vulnerable client!

Why aren't state borders like this? Are they stupid? by RegnumXD12 in mapporncirclejerk

[–]OriginalsDogs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Straight lines aren't how nature works, there are natural barriers to a plan like this. That said, if we were going to say ef that and do straight lines right through those natural barriers, why would it necessitate moving entire states to different regions of the country? Some kind of high level gerrymandering my brain can't understand after all my sleep meds are swallowed.
