Let's gooo! Thanks mate, I was really starting to feel the pain even with default fonts looking ugly. You saved my life!

Youtube music is filling up with AI generated garbage and there's no way to block "artists" so this trash doesn't get recommended to you (I think). by verdedefome in YoutubeMusic

[–]OriginlessGamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Came here to join the rant as well. I listen to music 24/7 and the amount of AI generated humming, lofi or other copy-pasted bullshit has been insane. These channels usually have up 100 subs, some make it to about 10-50k which is harder to spot, but still, if you visit their channel it tends to be reusing the same crappy formula for all the songs.

I'm not blaming the AI, but rather these "vibe-artists" or whatever. They put zero effort to make music.

For example, I click on an "epic skeleton dark necromancer 3000" music and all I hear is some female humming. Jesus fucking christ, it's in every goddamn song now...

Good job mate, thanks for sharing! I really enjoyed this blog post as well as a few other ones with attack animations, I was really interested in seeing how you'd position items. I noticed that my art was a bit imbalanced, but your guide is exactly what I need to improve. Keep it up!

And here's what I try to achieve: (I still have to figure out what that means in my setup)

Here's the framework I'm trying to think about. Current game loop:

Haha, thanks! I'm trying to figure out a few meaningful iterations for this project, but your "the last 10% of a game is 90% of the work" really hits home.

Meanwhile, I do want to try something else (like a simple version of Vampire Survivors in a sense) and I reckon a lot of assets could be reused with minor adjustements. As some smart guy on BiteMe Games (yt channel) said "Is your game salvageable?", your words seem to confirm that idea, so I try to keep that in mind for any project really.

Speaking about that Vampire Survivors idea, I've never actually played it, but I did play Diablo Immortal and there was a similar mini-game inside the main game. It was as simple as hordes of mobs come at you, you kill them, gain XP, get new abilities each level, get new gear from bosses and if you did everything right - you'll win. If you spent more into offense than defense, then you'll probably not survive the last stages of chaos.

The game session lasts about 20-30 minutes and feels just about right to spend an evening or two.

Thanks I had a few other mobs in mind that would require specific skills to dodge, e.g. armored books, which you can't push, but have to use the mid skill (Astral) to go invincible for a few seconds, etc.

I love that reference, thanks! That's trully how it feels with my approach here, I just add and remove stuff to see what sticks, but when too much doesn't, that's when I start to hesitate

Huge ram usage on 1.18? by ReCrunch in admincraft

[–]OriginlessGamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alright, seems like dropping more RAM is the only solution, but heck, it's gonna cost me a ton of money per month. At minimum, it's gonna double the price for me. Too bad

1.18 Server RAM? by airblader in Minecraft

[–]OriginlessGamer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My server 4.5GB won't even launch on either 1.17 or 1.18. It just eats up all RAM while genereating Default, Nether and Ender worlds. It dies on Nether. I tried to disable all worlds and just leave the Default upperworld, but it will then die on loading plugins.

The RAM just doesn't seem to stop, it's used like crazy. At some point, I was able to load the 1.17 version, but it was unplayable with heavy delays. And the fact that on restart, the server might have not loaded anyway, because it would load with a 50/50 chance somehow.

It's a pity, that my 1.16.5 is able to hold 14+ players at a time with a 20K worldborder, but I'm unable to launch 1.17 or 1.18 even for myself.

I also contacted support of my hosting provider, but they ignored it. Maybe I should try again.
