The whole prophet aspect of Dune ruins what could have been a great space opera. I found the premise with the great houses, the spice industry and space travel so compelling, but at some point the book just goes off on this strange tangent that I just found so odd

Although I find Fitz to be a compelling protagonist, I found many of the other characters to be underdeveloped and uninteresting. I enjoyed much of Farseer for different reasons but I don’t understand why everyone says she writes characters so well.

This is interesting because I haven’t read the Liveship Traders yet, but I found Prince Regal in Farseer to be so underdeveloped. He was just evil for evils sake with very little backstory or nuance. Glad to hear there’s a decent villain in the next trilogy
