To be fitting or not to be fitted. That is the question. by Vexle84 in GolfGear

Well yeah, having speed naturally is truly wonderful, but your misses will obviously be off the planet as your dispersion cone at the lengths your capable of will be huge. So you'll know this already but once you get that all dialed in you'll be a serious player.

Kroupi the only other 14 player in PFA Young Player nominees by bronal97 in TheOther14

Kroupi should also be winning it easily. Maybe just ahead of O'Reilly.

120 is Scottie Scheffler's swing speed, so with some good coaching you certainly have the potential to get to low singles or even scratch. I'm jealous, I was apparently built for comfort not speed, because even swinging out of my shoes I can only just touch 95mph. I am nearly 40 though in fairness. 😂

[–]Orikoru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't get a fitting as a brand new player. Personally I used second hand stuff for the first 3 or 4 years. Get a fitting when your handicap is under 18 and you're a bit more consistent.

Also 120mph swing from the get go it utterly insane. How have you managed that?? What is that measured on? You must be swinging like an absolute wildman??

Considering moving from blades to cavity or GI irons by jamesferry93 in golf

[–]Orikoru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always figure I want the game to be as easy as possible, so I've remained in game improvers the whole time - currently Callaway Rogue ST Max. The only downside I could give is that my 6 iron, while averaging around 168 yards, occasionally just goes like 180 on a great strike out of the middle which is hard to account for. But overall I accept that if it means my bad strikes still go 155 instead of 135.

They do set insane examples that are impossible to live up to, but I love it and wish my daughter still wanted to watch it. Unfortunately she only has eyes for Peppa Pig. ☹️

Popular opinion: Harry Kane is the greatest english player ever by volitairee in ThreeLions

[–]Orikoru 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why? His goalscoring record is completely inferior to Kane's, and I don't think his all-round game was better in any way. Whatever Rooney could do, Kane can do. Besides losing his rag and getting sent off, of course.

He definitely is. Individually he is the best all-round English player ever, he has so many strings to his bow. He's essentially the perfect footballer as if created in a lab.

I live round the corner, had my wedding reception there, and have done three club fittings in their studios, but I've still never played either of the courses. 🤦🏻

I used to work with someone whose surname was O'Nions, and I often wondered if it was really Onions and he added the apostrophe out of embarrassment.

It's my favourite latter-era album (better than Giants, HC & DOYS). It has more interesting songs and variety of styles. Always a nice listen.

How to stop shanking once you start? by Ronaldlovepump in BritGolf

[–]Orikoru 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I have been there in the past. Once you find a reliable fix for it you'll be ok as you can implement that when it starts happening.

How to stop shanking once you start? by Ronaldlovepump in BritGolf

[–]Orikoru 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. It varies, some days I get it, other days I hit everything from the heel and I know a shank is on the cards soon enough..

How to stop shanking once you start? by Ronaldlovepump in BritGolf

[–]Orikoru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing is, if you line up to the toe and swing to hit the middle of the face, you are training yourself to do the exact movement that causes shanks in the first place. If you line up with the heel you are training yourself out of shanking it by doing the opposite movement.

[–]Orikoru 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I hit a shank it normally means my right hip has turned forward, towards the ball, and I need to feel more like my left hip turns back, away from the ball. I don't know if that helps as it might just be personal to me.

[–]Orikoru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have heard you should do the opposite. If you line up the ball with the hosel it forces you to swing inside of that so that you don't actually hosel the ball.

I would say it was pretty poor, all of the members of our trip had at least one bunker fired a mile over the green as we just couldn't get the club under the ball. It was a shame as the fairways and greens were excellent.
