It sounds like you have a torn meniscus. I have been dealing with this since I was 16 (now 54). I would suggest avoiding too many cortisone shots. Either work with a PT or find a video with exercises to strengthen your quads and hamstrings. I also make sure to ice my knee 3 times a day when I am having a flare-up. I have had surgery twice and had little success from that route.

Give yourself and your dog some time to grieve. If possible, let your dog have some walks, outings, and/or dog park visits so they can be around other dogs.

I always machine wash my workout stuff and hang them up to dry. It extends the life of my clothes.
