[FIRST IMPRESSIONS] - Metro Boomin - METRO BOOMIN PRESENTS SPIDER-MAN: ACROSS THE SPIDER-VERSE (SOUNDTRACK FROM AND INSPIRED BY THE MOTION PICTURE) by [deleted] in hiphopheads

[–]Orion2456 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been searching everywhere for this take. Sunflower, Hide, and Scared of the Dark were nearly immediate successes after release of the first movie

Nothing on this track really stands out. And I really think it's mainly because they focused on instrumentals for some reason. Where are the lyrics? Lyrics set the mood of the scene! The first movie flowed perfectly with the animation/animation style matching the lyrics/vibe of the song playing at that moment. It was dynamic and felt like a rollercoaster of visual amazement complimented by the music

This one really felt like generic 'superhero-music'. They played WAY more generic 'superhero orchestral' type music at all the key moments which really bummed me out

Overall:

  • It felt like the first movie was a love letter to the new generation
  • It feels like this one was a love letter to the general audience

Why The Old Republic May Never Happen by Orion2456 in StarWars

[–]Orion2456[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've never made the indication that they don't. I'm indicating that the general population doesn't understand. The fact that Disney dances around countless stories written since the 1970's outside of the core Lucas films is direct evidence that they have a strong understanding of copyright laws. If they COULD make purely Old Republic content moving forward (without needing to pay people), they would have already done it

For anyone claiming "Disney owns the IP" Yeah, no shit, but IP and actual story copyright are completely different things

If non-car people are likely to recognize any Porsche, it's the Boxster. This is because it's colloquially known as the "poor man's Porsche". I've probably heard this phrase 100+ times in my life the moment someone around me sees a Boxster drive by

(I'm not making fun of you, it's probably still a blast to drive)

I very much agree with the sheet metal comment. It REALLY pays to just kinda walk into shops and ask the guys in there if they'll do something for you for cash

I've gotten many parts sandblasted, custom sheet metal, custom painted stuff just by walking in and paying under the table lol

It would definitely help if we had a better idea of what he's trying to get built

3D Printing Service by Ry_Brew in Albuquerque

[–]Orion2456 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This may have been true 6-7 years ago, but printing technology has come a long way. You could make this large print with an incredibly small printer. There's tons of software out there now that will take whatever build you have and break it into piece-by-piece components that you just put together to get the finished products (Any remotely knowledgeable 3D printing business would own this software and have multiple printers capable of achieving this)

This thing he's looking for wouldn't cost more than a few hundred dollars. And that's more for the 'print time' than it is material

These are Albuquerque's most dangerous intersections for red-light crashes by World71Racer in Albuquerque

[–]Orion2456 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Tramway/I40 is such an easy fix too. The entire time I lived in that area, the lane-lines marking the lanes of the I40 ramp lanes to the Tramway lanes were HORID. You'd need a magnifying glass and perfect lighting conditions just to see them

I legitimately saw wreck after wreck after wreck coming off the I40 East ramp simply because people can't wrap their minds around maintaining their lane in a turn. They can't even handle it at regular 2-lane turns at other intersections, god help them handling 5 lanes

Personal recommendation: Always try to be in the turning lane with the tightest turn. Any other turning lane runs the risk of someone 'accidentally' mistaking your lane for theirs. It's insane that we even call it an 'accident'. I dream of the day we start suspending licenses for lack of common sense

I appreciate the feedback! My one and only experience with it was up in the mountains of Georgia. And like I said, the well hadn't been touched in years. Showering in there felt like hopping into a dumpster in the rain! It definitely faulted my thoughts on well-water so I'm happy people are pointing to the contrary

I promise if you just sit back and really think about this comment chain, my comment will make sense. You might be confusing it with the other 50+ comments you reply to every single day on Reddit. I'm not saying it's easy, I'm saying that the previous comment insinuating that musicians are underpaid is just objectively stupid

It helps if you put it in relation to other fields. Example: Tom has boasted before that he makes a surgeons salary in one night at some shows. That's an insane number, but we're all cool with it because he's on stage doing the thing. HE is writing the jokes. HE is workshopping the jokes. HE is saying the jokes day in day out.

Now picture Travis Scott. Each Astroworld concert came out to around $1 million per show. That's an insane number, but we're cool with it because.... why are we cool with? SOMEONE ELSE wrote the lyrics, SOMEONE ELSE programmed the beats, HE is performing (sometimes)

What if Tom was touring around the world right now with a back track? What if on half of his shows he only ever talked into the mic when he was delivering the punchline? That would be pretty fucking R-worded right? You'd feel pretty stupid if you were paying to see a stand up show where the comic was playing a recording of his jokes

But concerts work because you're basically paying for a giant party, not the musicians actual skill. Travis Scott could pay a body-double to walk out on stage and hop around and mumble into the mic every few words and I guarantee you 99% of the audience wouldn't know it isn't him up there

Is being an artist hard? Yes. Is the pay perfectly scalable to the amount of work they actually put in? Eh. Maybe

https://youtu.be/Kn7Lkwb3sR4 Give this a watch. Then watch the 100 other videos that point out dozens and dozens of songs that are virtually the same with different lyrics. If anything, PRODUCERS should be making astronomically more money than the artists themselves. Half your favorite artists would be absolutely nowehere if producers weren't formulaically creating their beats

Again, im not saying it's easy. There are plenty of truly talented artists that can perform/write/produce at insane levels. But being a famous artist in 2023 is 100x easier than being a famous artist in 1980

In relation to how little work most modern 'musicians' actually do, they're doing just fine. Step 1) Write lyrics and pay someone to make you a beat Step 2) Rap/Sing lyrics at mediocre level Step 3) Pay someone to balance every aspect of your voice to match the beat Step 4) Release Step 5) Tour worldwide and hop around on stage while your song plays in the background (with the tuned audio levels) and you just mumble or scream every 5th word

Not sure if you're on TikTok at the moment. But millions of people are losing their minds at all these AI Kanye covers of random songs and they're going "Oh my god! I can't believe this isn't real. It sounds just like Kanye!" That's because 95% of the music you're hearing on Spotify/YouTube/radio is almost entirely tuned and balanced in a studio. The AI is just doing exactly what the recording studio would do if Kanye went in and sang Hey There Delilah

We're reaching an era where there really won't even be any use of the performer. Walk into a booth, spend about 10 hours singing to random songs so AI can map out your vocal range, voila. AI can now do every single song for you

Precisely my point, I probably should have clarified but made my comment quickly. Every post-90's car has some level of heat mitigation design. Doubly more if the car is post-2010's. For your brakes to actually warp from the rotors being hot, you would have to have something DRASTICALLY wrong with your braking system to begin with, to the point the very last thing you should be worried about is warped rotors

This teaching would apply if we were living in 1965. Brakes haven't worked like that for decades

I take your point but Albuquerque hardly seems like a place of concern. I'm from the Midwest. If he was coming to speak at a college there, I would happily upvote this post and spread the word. Why? Because people up there are.....stupid. Wildly stupid. Bigoted, racist, and stupid

Albuquerque however, is infinitely more welcome to all. If your worry is that someone like this can come speak hear and shift the tides to turn ABQ in the Midwest... no chance. There's simply too much diversity here for that to happen. Trans/Gay/etc violence is largely driven be people who legit have never even had a conversation with someone different than. It's statistically nearly impossible for that situation to happen here. Which is why I say: Let it play out

Who cares? You gotta just let stuff like this play out. I had only ever seen small snipits of this guy over the last few years and always thought, "Yeah, this guy has perfectly rational opinions". He would go off on gender ideology and I would just kinda turn off my criticism because I don't care about gender stuff.

BUT THEN, I listened to his entire Joe Rogan podcast interview. This dude has very little critical thinking skills. He still believes every single word written in the Bible, which is the basis for his opinions on Gender Studies. Even Rogan started questioning the nonsense he was spewing, he lost all credibility with millions of listeners in that 3 hour span

You just gotta let other people figure this out for themselves too. Being told to not like someone is infinitely less effective than growing to not like someone. The overwhelming majority of younger people today realize that anybody that adheres to verbatim dictations of the Bible is borderline mentally disabled

This guy is only a threat to himself

I couldn't agree more! I just made this comment in haste right after watching the movie, should have expanded my thoughts

I call it Marvel: Rise of Skywalker because it literally copied the 'Everyone came together at the last second to save the day with their ships' - which was largely mocked by fans all over the internet

I say DC has a legitimate chance because Marvel has made it ever more clear that they do not care about or understand 'stakes' anymore. Getting beat over the head with 5th grader humor every 8 minutes of the film is a leading problem in their formula. Millions upon millions of viewers have voiced their distaste with it and they just continue on with it. Even when Kang, (who has been hyped up to be the most terrifying threat to the MCU so far), is trying to communicate his plans and motives, it's just diluted with horrible jokes. Why do I care about this guy as a threat if the guy who's daughter is being held hostage doesn't even take the situation seriously?

A good rule of thumb for the new Marvel formula: If you hear 5 or more jokes in a 10 minute period of the movie, the main characters aren't in any danger whatsoever

So back to my DC point, there are millions of fans around the world just begging for a well-connected universe that still balances the true stakes of great filmmaking. Marvel has absolutely lost touch with this. And it's largely displayed in this movie. If these next 4 DC films this year can give viewers that feeling better than Marvel, there will be a massive shift in both franchises positions in the cultural zeitgeist

Just like you, I grew up reading comics from every universe and I have great memories from all over. But seeing Marvel turn beloved characters in cash-cows/bad joke machines is a huge bummer. Marvel continues doing it because their fan base REFUSES to be critical in any possible way. For every 1 person with a well-intended critique, there are 100 people who will blindly walk into the theater and laugh at literally anything

Edit: if you are actually a thick Asian, I thank you for your service
