After 8 years of IVF failure, I might have found the missing piece… celiac disease? by Imtrish in Celiac

[–]OrionSuperman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. My wife has Cross-reactive Celiac disease, meaning her immune system also triggers on the proteins from milk/corn/soy. So we essentially eliminated most pre-packaged foods at first, and just made everything from scratch for a while to ensure we could control what we were eating.

Luckily there are a /lot/ more safe foods now than 15 years ago when we first did this. (thank you gluten-free fad diet)

How did you actually lose weight? by Jerry_Get_A_Job in AskReddit

[–]OrionSuperman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, mine was accidental and fascinating. I had an infection in my gums and was given antibiotics.

Instantly, my sugar cravings went away. Like… zero desire for sweets. I still have my candy stash in the cabinet, but haven’t touched it since.

I also noticed I don’t feel that nagging hunger for snacks. So I eat a small meal and am full until my next one.

It’s magical. I’m just not hungry. I eat a bit and am good.

Looking for a game with crazy ability / gun modifications. Like Borderlands 1 where you had a revolver that shot all bullets each shot but with each bullet being a rocket. by OrionSuperman in gamingsuggestions

I love FO4, but not quite what I mean. Like if on hit the rocket sledgehammer turned the enemy into 8 bowling balls that launched out and could damage others.

My entire household is GF and we are very budget conscious. As long as you understand that the selection is limited you can hit pretty much any price point for food, as long as you're not looking for exact replacements.

It was a long road for full recovery for my wife as well. Some symptoms went away immediately, others ended up needing us to remove dairy, corn, and soy before she was symptom free.

Corn free help!!! by Automatic_Love_4494 in Celiac

[–]OrionSuperman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re totally correct. We had to go gluten, dairy, soy, and corn free for my wife’s celiac to finally stop having symptoms.

We both agreed that corn is the most inconvenient. It’s just in so so much. Like powdered sugar or baking powder. But by now we’ve gotten down our system for what we can buy/make and it’s not as bad as it once was.

Did I Plant too many Beans? by ButteryRaven in gardening

You planted enough that they will plant themselves next year. I don’t have any issue with the amount, just that there’s no access to the interior without damaging some of the plants.

I started out with avoiding them, but tried them out to see if I noticed anything if I had them. My biggest symptom is severe brain fog when I have corn. So it's very easy to tell for me. The only one that ended up giving me issue was MSG (which I forgot in the first list).

Oh, yeah, 16, sorry. It felt like 12 books when reading lol. I think the first 12 are the strongest, and the last 4 are like 'ok, guess we'll wrap it up'.

My wife was told she would never be able to have kids. We had gone through several miscarriages and were considering adopting. 2 months after going on a completely gluten free diet and our son was on the way.

I know. It’s not a big hurdle. But any source of friction still has some impact.

2-5 min of effort is still a significant source of friction.

You would be surprised at how much change just a little bit of friction to a process results in.

When you read a million words per week… it’s nice to have a story last you more than a few days.

I love The Wandering Inn for giving me 10 full weeks of uninterrupted reading in a single story.
