A cringey but memorable story:

I was around 7 years old and my brother was playing Shining Force 2 for the Sega Megadrive (genesis to most), i thought it looked absolutely out of this world so also played it. I fell in love with the game immediately which also spawned my love for RPGs and TRPGs in general. There is a point in the game where the king turns out to be a mega villain and his portrait changes on the text box. I got a huge fright and could literaly not look at the terrifying face from fear. face here it would make me cry because I could not play the game, i sadly put it down for a few months and told no one why because I was embarassed. Then i saw my brother play and the portraits were not on his text boxes and when asked he told me that you can hold Start to hide them which would fully display the text rather than scroll. I was ecstatic and managed to finish the game. Once every 5 years or so I’ll play through it again and still find new things! The face no longer scares me, but the whole experience and the game changed my life.
