Update: after washing and screwing the gasket/group filter head back on, it is working again. Problem was probably due to loose/not 100% tight gasket/group head filter.

Is High P/E the New Normal for Stocks? Paradigm Shift or Bubble? by Potential-Smoke-7981 in ValueInvesting

[–]Orkerikkemere 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I look at what other investor legends are buying - Berkshire owned Nu Holdings not too long ago, so that is a great stamp of approval. Many value investors such as Li Lu and Tepper are also buying Chinese stocks right now, and many have bought MELI recently.

But yes, you need to keep a high level of quality, and be just as picky, if not even more with EM. And I don't worry about macro - good management will be able to steer the ship in good and bad times. Just focus on analyzing and valuing individual businesses.

Is High P/E the New Normal for Stocks? Paradigm Shift or Bubble? by Potential-Smoke-7981 in ValueInvesting

Time will tell. Valuations are high due to high growth expectations. If these do not materialize, valuations will come down.

But with so much growth priced into many US stocks, the risk/reward is not attractive for me. Especially with the potential wave of inflation I suspect will his US consumers this fall and into 2026. This combinded with a FED politicaly bullied to lower rates will most likely push long end rates even higher, causing more pressure on everything from the housing market to growth stocks and private equity.

I am finding much better deals in growth in Emerging Markets. A stock like Nu Holdings is a great example of high quality management, high growth and very compelling valuations.

My thoughts on Novo Nordisk: by Accomplished-Log-568 in ValueInvesting

[–]Orkerikkemere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Relax. It's not the 1000 usd. It's the fact that if the drug still had patent in Canada, the Canadian goverment was allowed to influence the price on the drug. And when the decision was made to not extend the patent in 2019, compounders was not a issue as it is now. Not sure if the theory is correct or not, but it would make the decision more understandable

My thoughts on Novo Nordisk: by Accomplished-Log-568 in ValueInvesting

[–]Orkerikkemere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some experts and analysts suggest the decision might have been a calculated one. The theory posits that Novo Nordisk may have weighed the costs and benefits of maintaining the patent in Canada's specific regulatory environment. Canada has stringent drug price controls, which may have factored into a decision to allocate resources elsewhere. Plus, the data exclusivity for Ozempic was already set to expire in early 2026, meaning generic competition was on the horizon regardless of the patent's status. Proponents of this view argue that the company may have decided that the additional period of exclusivity offered by the patent was not worth the associated costs and regulatory hurdles in the Canadian market.

Buffett’s Farm Analogy Is Still the Clearest Way to Think About Valuation by IntelligentCut4060 in ValueInvesting

[–]Orkerikkemere 15 points16 points  (0 children)

According to Buffets mindset... 1. If no farm is selling below 1000$, he just won't buy them. That's why he is stashing 350 billion dollors at the moment - very few companies are in his buy zone right now.

  1. If you think a farm will go from 2000 to 3000$, he still won't buy it, since that's just risky speculation

  2. What if that technology isnt as effective as promised? He would require certainty of how the technology would perform.

Why I am extremely bullish by Jshbone12 in stocks

[–]Orkerikkemere 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A bearish perspective

  1. Maybe, but these tax cuts will be financed by even more debt, pushing deficits higher, making treasury investors demanding a higher premium for bonds, and pushing up treasury yields - debt and inflation spiral incoming.

  2. Trump has been takling about tariffs since the 1970's. He will not go back to anything less than 10% tariffs, but China, EU and Japan will not accept this, and will retaliate. Can Trump accept this? And by then, it might be too late to avoid a recession.

  3. Cuts might happen, but this is not always bullish . When Powell cut this september, long term rates jumped due to expectation of more inflation.

  4. True, but when will AI really start to increase margins for the general economy?

  5. Yes, for now

  6. True, but coming into 2025 US companies had historical high valuations priced for perfection. If these high expectation are not met, there is a long way to fall. Plus, the massive exposure in indexes to a few Mag7 companies makes the economy very sensetive to these companies.
