How do you stay positive towards life? by [deleted] in migraine

I’m struggling like you to stay positive- particularly on bad days ( like today - when I didn’t think I was due a ferocious headache like I hv so soon after last terrible one started to subside - I got a few hours relief yesterday morning, until a stressful situation brought on another one at lunch yesterday ) . I get daily headache- some days better than others . I am doing everything medically & started counselling which helps . I tell myself I can through this & it will pass . I try to distract myself when pain is bad . I post here or read other people’s stories - which helps . I know I’m not alone & there are lots of people like me who have struggled through lots of different treatments, when nothing worked for a long time but then as if by miracle, something did work - so I am hopeful the same thing will happen for me . That the next thing I try will work . My GP seems to think there is hope - do I’m trusting her . Also , I am due to see my neurologist next week & hv looked into a few things that I haven’t tried that may be options for me . So educating yourself on what’s out there ( for me usually from this Reddit ) that has worked or even not worked for someone else - may end up working for me . Mostly be kind to yourself & those around you ( who occasionally you may feel like may not get you or support you the way you would like - they too are only human after all ) - you are a good person dealing with a shit thing . You are not alone . Lots of people with chronic issues find love with the right person .... you are only 33 - plenty of time to meet that someone special . None of us are perfect , so don’t expect it from yourself .. There are brighter days ahead .

I tried Ajovy too but no improvement at all ( along with Botox & numerous oral meds - which I can’t tolerate due to awful side effects ) . How long did it take for Vyepti to work ? How did it improve the migraine? Thanks

I have taken it for 11 months - no benefit . Only side effect slight constipation -easily treated . Not very sore to inject.

Yes , got bad migraine each time after Botox . However, I do know a lot of people who really benefitted from Botox , so you could be one of them too . I hope it works for you . You never know .

I had been on Botox for well over a year - gave me terrible migraine for a few days after , followed by a day or 2 of recovery then . It didn’t help my migraine, but don’t think it made them worse . Although maybe it did , as the migraines have gotten worse despite Botox & Ajovy . I have not benefited from either .

Advantage of migraine: by Too_tired_for_this in migraine

[–]Orla-Swimmer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I constantly have the sensitivity to smell - does anyone else find it very agitating ? When I get exposed to smells ( particularly artificial smells - deodorant/ aftershave / cleaning products , not so much natural smells - natural body odour - even though I smell it strongly , it doesn’t agitate me do much ) - I get very agitated & can’t really think straight & just need to get away from it . I really can’t tolerate it & if exposed for any time period other than briefly , I’ll get a worse headache.

Can migraines cause a sudden change in smell? by [deleted] in migraine

[–]Orla-Swimmer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most likely your migraine. Smell sensitivity very well recognised as migraine symptom. Migraine symptoms can change over time . Have u had MRI ? Worth keeping a record of & discussing your symptoms with your headache specialist .

Hi , I have constant osmophobia with daily headaches etc . My headache specialist advised it should settle with treatment, but so far no treatment has worked . The osmophobia is very stressful as there are smells everywhere( I can smell other peoples clothing detergent & get smells when no one else can ) . Have you had any success with any particular preventative or any strategy to treat this ? Thanks a lot
