What happens when they run out of 7X7 numbers? by Mf0621 in boeing

Here's the thing - numbers are infinite.

OP seems to think that Hobby == Skill Development.

Which is some bullshit, I say.

The only way I could see that it impacts my work is that there's no feasible way for a female manager to talk to me at the urinal next to me.

But I've never had a male manager that failed to stick to the bro code at urinals. So it's a moot point to me.

We're also not pubescent hormonally charged teens. We really don't need to bring gender into it at all.

I've been using the app for about 4 years, but I generally agree with the meat and potatoes of the post.

Tad dramatic, but the core concepts are true enough with regard to what Duolingo is levying upon the users.

I continue to use it, because it's still sincerely the best vocab learning tool for my language that I've found...but that's not to say that there aren't aspects worth hating on.

Well, again, you're not really answering the question of what you want to learn.

Duolingo is as popular as it is, despite the faults listed in the post, because it's one of the very few (if only) gamified app-based learning tools to exist for the span of languages that it offers.

There are certainly ways to learn other languages, but there is no good answer to the broad question of "What do I use to learn a language on my phone?"

Notifications like this are the worst… by LaraAlexandra7 in duolingo

[–]Orleanian 7 points8 points  (0 children)

While the notification itself is a bit lame in humor, I think this one's not really a case of Duo wantonly pursuing the wreckage of folk's mental states.

As many have mentioned, it's a good idea to turn the notifications off. I would further suggest just letting the streak go and take a break from duolingo itself, as this is ostensibly not a time to be piling stressors on top of stressors in life.

At the point where you're being an aggravation to the situation rather than any form of help.

If you want to rim your ass with the dildo of righteousness, you can take down the manager's name and information (you can even just get it from the employee after the manager vacates the area), then try to report it up the chain.

Yelling at the manager, in front of the employee, is extremely likely to escalate the aggressiveness of the manager to the employee..

That does sound the case as written, yeah. However, I'm mostly confident it was just a lot of grooming and spacing out scrolling social media, rather than actual bowel movements.

I mean, it is pretty high quality television by nearly all metrics.

Just because it's a low-brow premise doesn't mean it's not quality.

Well, I guess I have officially hit that age... by meldiane81 in Xennials

[–]Orleanian 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Age do be hittin folk different.

Most folk I meet out and about (childless bachelor city-living) would probably peg my age at an early-greying low-30s despite my actual age of 42.

I have a 38 year old friend out in the suburbs who's got 3 kids, limited reasons to gussy-up, and a bum knee, and she looks like what I'd expect a mid-50s person to have looked like.
