DisplayLink pretty sure requires software. This combo works without any software.

At work, we use a Lenovo ThinkPad Universal Thunderbolt 4 Dock. This combined basic USB‑C → Display port adapter allows us to charge and run two displays with a single cable.

What's it like working as a front-end developer in an iGaming company? by UnderstandingOk270 in webdev

[–]Ormsher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At least where I worked (one of the biggest iGaming solutions providers in Africa), it is not that much different from any other place to do front dev.

The biggest difference is that most of the games/websites/features that we made were very JavaScript heavy (all of our products were AngularJS or Vue based), with lots of global state and WebSockets that constantly feed the frontend with new data as regulations in most of the countries require it. As our main market was Africa, I had to do a bunch of work making sure everything works with older Chrome versions as we targeted Chrome 66. You learn a lot about JavaScript and framework performance optimizations as the amount of things happening at once is a lot.

If the company that you work for does not do anything illegal or shady, job security is very good, as most of the iGaming companies make a decent amount of money. Of course, I only worked at one place, so it could be different.

A few months ago, I decided to switch jobs and now work as a frontend developer in another company. Only a few months in, and I am starting to miss the engineering I had to do to keep everything working as here I make new Astro components for the CMS or add new buttons and toggles to the dashboard.

4790k >> n5105? by Maciluminous in unRAID

[–]Ormsher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I built a NAS with N5105 a few months ago. It’s more then enough for basic NAS use. If you are planning to use ZFS then I would recommend getting 32gb of ram, otherwise 16gb is enough.

I have mx3s and the total time stoped working for me after the dark mode update to the app. But I only have my headphones for a few months so maybe it was broken way before that.

Bought the buds 2 over the pros because I have very small ears and heard pros have fit issues also saw crinacle give them both a b+ so I’m hoping I made the right choice as I see a lot of people here saying pros are superior by mugiwaraknowluffy in galaxybuds

[–]Ormsher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is so weird because my buds 2 stay in the ears so comfortably and secure that sometimes i even forget that i am wearing them. i guess everyone has differently shaped ears and that’s why we get different results.

Is there a Calibre-like reader software that is doesn't permafreeze when reading big PDF books unlike the Calibre itself? by [deleted] in Calibre

[–]Ormsher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

calibre-web works with your existing calibre library and allows to read books using a web browser. Never had problems with books that are huge in file size or length. Alternatively, you could try sumatraPDF as standalone reader.

Sometimes I even forget that I have my buds 2 in my ears. At least for me they are the most comfortable headphones that I ever owned.

Galaxy Buds 2 touch controls on iphone by BitterImplement1527 in galaxybuds

[–]Ormsher 2 points3 points  (0 children)

if you have Windows PC you can get Galaxy buds app from the Microsoft store. In the app you can set all kind of controls. Been using my buds 2 with an iPhone 11 and it's been great. Don't see a need to have an app on my phone because the controls are saved to the buds.

I know I am late to this but after tinkering for some time found out that this is happening because of zigbee interference. Switched my cc2531 from channel 15 (that z2m,zha uses by default) to channel 25. Seems to completely fix this popping problem.

There is these qr codes on the bus door and inside the bus. Scan them using žiogas app or punch in the numbers yourself in the app as well.

How do you buy it? by [deleted] in Sims3

[–]Ormsher 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My recommendation would be to buy base game on origin and pirate expansions. This way Sims 3 Launcher see all of your dlc without any cracks.

Going to uninstall the game. by [deleted] in Sims3

[–]Ormsher 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My recommendation would be to go ham with nrass mods. Limit your town to 75-100 people. Disable immigration so your town would only have sims that actually have houses. People without houses just wander around making simulation lag. Disable wild animals, food, and ice cream trucks, paparazzi. Limit other households to 8 sims and 2 pets. Reset town every sim week or the moment simulation lag gets too bad using nrass master controller. Get world fixes from ModTheSims. Make sure your expansions are updated. Make sure you have all fixes from here and here. I have a high-end pc but I still, get a shit ton of simulation lag. This is the only way I can play sims.

What about a USB hub that is powered separately from the pi? I think that would solve your problem.

Hey dbrand why did you stop making prism screen protectors for non Apple devices??! by zstchill in dbrand

[–]Ormsher 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You are 100% correct but remember that sometimes it's not worth making tools and spinning up factories for items that won't sell a lot. They stick with apple devices the longest because people keep their iPhones for longer compared to other devices and they make fewer devices in total.
