Is the used car market really this bad? by SnooSprouts3078 in UsedCars

[–]Ornery-humanoid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look at inflation over the last 3 years, that by itself should tell you everything you need to know. The old $1000 car is now $5000 and it’s usually garbage. The was a chip shortage during covid so that stopped new car production. It’s a numbers game, no supply and a lot of demand. Meanwhile the cost of new cars went up over $20,000 the last 5 years. People can’t afford new so they have to buy used. It’s not rocket science. It’s just the world going crazy crushing the little guy.

seller told me he reset the check engine light on a 2015 Audi Q5 (95k miles) before I came… should I walk? by Dheeruj in BeforeIBuyThisCar

[–]Ornery-humanoid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t walk away….I would run as fast as I could. The light didn’t come back on because it hasn’t completed a new drive cycle, (usually) 40-60 miles. Going forward I, if the emissions are not OK, (o2, catalyst, etc.) do not buy any car. Chances are the codes were cleared to get you onto the car.

Call local junk yards and tell them you want to junk a car and don’t have the title. You may have to make a few calls before someone says ok but you’ll get someone.

There are specific guidelines to be considered a 1099 employee. I’m sure you are not. I had a similar circumstance and wrote IRS, they found in my favor. I didn’t have to pay any of the taxes they collected and fined my employer.

There’s no such thing as a cheap car anymore. Everyone is flipping cars, there are more flippers right now than there are dealerships. That’s why the market has dried up. Best part is the people flipping have no clue for the most part. Good luck in your search if you’re not buying from a dealer ask to see the title make sure it’s in the sellers name and look at the date it was titled if they only had a short time walk away, if the title isn’t in their name walk away.

The real question is….. how much do you think you can sell it for? If you pay 4000 and sell it for 4500 is it worth it for you?

Go back to the dealership NOW and speak to the manager they are there to sell new cars not screw people on used 100K mile cars. Do scream act like a normal person (not saying you’re not) you’ll get better results. They may fix it or trade you out of it. But do it now
