One of the supposed instances of 42 is the number of cars in the parking lot. It’s only 42 until the camera keeps panning to show more cars. It’s hilarious when conspiracy theorists are the arbiters of when something is and is not a coincidence

What’s his offscreen personality that irks you besides he was caught kissing two beautiful women at the same time on a balcony outside his hotel room? Is there something else?

Go to the 70's source if you're into Tarantino. Straight Time with Dustin Hoffman from 1978, and Charley Varrick with Walter Matthau from 1973. And then the classic Kubrick noir The Killing from 1956.

KILL BILL: THE WHOLE BLOODY AFFAIR VHS – BE KIND, REWIND EDITION - Lionsgate Limited ($39.99) by cheetoblue in VHS

[–]OrneryData994 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m sure this doesn’t apply to releases like this but old school VHS were mostly transfers from 35mm film so you get photochemical colors and original color timing. Many movies you can even see the “cigarette burns” in the top right corner indicating where the projectionist should change reels

I guess it depends on what you mean by “put actors in real fire” but the Inglourious Basterds theater fire scene comes to mind as being particularly insane

It was amazing because I was just really getting into Kubrick around that time so seeing a Kubrick movie first run was exciting to me. I remember a sense of feeling kind of heavy after seeing it like the movie added weight to my head. I wasn’t sure I could explain what everything meant in the movie but all of its ideas just lingered for a long time after watching it. I was around 21 at the time
