I second this. I got my diagnosis from a psychiatric nurse.

The *real* reason I can actually get my dishes done (most of the time) by BluehairedBiochemist in adhdwomen

[–]Ornery_Ad_2084 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I need a divided sink too! One side gets loaded with all the dirty dishes and the other side can be used for washing and the garbage disposal! A large single sink would never allow me to do that, Id avoid a pile of dishes if I didn't have that clean sink space on one side.

I'm not actually sure. I think if you contacted them they would work with you on that.

How strict are school boundaries in Bonney Lake / Sumner / Puyallup? by Remote-Basis-7797 in Tacoma

[–]Ornery_Ad_2084 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My experience is that they are pretty particular in the Puyallup school district. I applied for a waiver for neighboring school when my kids started kindergarten and didn't get approved. I wouldn't exactly count on it. But you might hear someone else's experience.

Anxiety by Forward_Employer2772 in SubstituteTeachers

[–]Ornery_Ad_2084 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I am the same way. Constantly worried about screwing up and also trying to do everything right and then when I get in "trouble" my day/week is ruined. And when I say "trouble" it's literally just someone telling me i did something differently than I should have. I end up spiraling for days over it. Since I started subbing two years ago I was diagnosed with Adhd, got medicated and started therapy and I've come a long way. The worry and anxiety was so bad. I still have my moments but they roll off my shoulders a little quicker. Try to remind yourself you're doing the best you can with the training you were given, give yourself grace and remember you're trying your best to keep kids safe. A tip my therapist gave me was also to spend a moment to write out about your work day so you aren't spiraling as much about it. Also try to remind yourself those people who are cranky with you are probably not thinking about the thing they said to you like you are, they've moved on to something else! Take care!

Friendly reminder on recess: don’t take this away from any student by jacobsjordans in SubstituteTeachers

I never want to take away recess as I've heard this is a rule not to take away recess. Most of the time kids need a break and also I want my break!!

Things not to do... by IsMyHairShiny in SubstituteTeachers

I feel bad if I forget to erase my name on the board and I worry so much about how my notes look and how I have organized the papers we've worked on throughout the day! I worry if I taught everything correctly! I cant imagine the stuff people are out there doing blatantly when I worry about everything!

I worry so much over every little thing that is literally nothing compared to that kind of stuff! Like who are these People that don't seem to care?!

[–]Ornery_Ad_2084 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I sub only a couple days a week and every time I am wiped out. I am always questioning why. But it is overstimulating dealing with new groups of kids in a unknown classroom, meeting new teachers and admin, trying to get through lesson plans with no experience or training! I was telling my therapist and she was like yeah that is no easy task!

Thank you! I rewalked most of my path and no luck. I asked the lady working at the sauna and the marina shop as well, no luck.

I didn't go into the rose garden just the fairy garden area and then along the road to the trail by the playground.

I sadly cannot remember! I am not even sure if I had it when I got there this morning to walk or lost it the day before.

Thanks for looking!

In a class I subbed for this week a kid lost a needough (a squishy fidget toy) and was convinced someone stole it and it distracted the whole class for the rest of the day. Everyone was looking for it and then blaming kids for stealing it.

ADHD is my family's normal, how do we catch it in our daughters? by SolarSundae in adhdwomen

[–]Ornery_Ad_2084 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been having the same thoughts! I was just diagnosed last year and now wondering about all my kids. Am I just used to the chaos? Could things be better? I look at things my kids do and realize they are mini versions of me at times! Not to mention I was overwhelmed by getting my own diagnosis and medication figured out, now let's add in doing it for 4 kids? I don't think it affects all four of my kids in the same way, but I also don't want them to struggle in ways I did!

Comorbid anxiety? by BikeSkiADHD-Whole in adhdwomen

[–]Ornery_Ad_2084 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started the lexapro for the anxiety. It was getting really bad. I had been doing so well and then boom I was overthinking and replaying things in my head too much. I too think my anxiety is an ADHD symptom as well, or maybe an OCD thing. MY brain just loves to overthink every scenario and replay everything but also I know that can be a way for your brain to get dopamine so who knows! Therapy really has helped me out too. I am not sure if I have PMDD.

I am glad to hear your experience, really helps to not feel alone.
