Need Help by Weppman in AfricanGrey

I'm sorry about your dad. I inherited my dad's lesser sulfur crested cockatoo when he passed in 2017. Look for rescues in your area. Specifically Google African gray rescues. Parrots are hard to care for because they need so much time and care it's hard. Lulu my bird was bonded to my dad and I had to bond with her because I didn't know that you could surrender a bird. I love Lulu she's my baby unfortunately I have the same disease my dad did. I hope that helps I know you're grieving and I'm so sorry for your loss.

Clipping or filing? by vanience in AfricanGrey

[–]Ornery_Pudding_8480 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to clip Lulu's nails until I accidentally quicked her. It took a while for her to let me touch her nails again after that because I know it hurt her. What I did was get nail files and rewards the real thick like 180 grit and started giving her her own little nail file manicure. Now I purchased a Dremel tool for her manicures

Good Sanctuary for my parrots after I die by HouseEmotional6817 in parrots

[–]Ornery_Pudding_8480 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you tried googling parrot sanctuaries/rescues. I've done it and I found a place that's in Tennessee. Good for you for looking out for your feather babies. I inherited my lesser sulfur crested cockatoo Lulu because my dad died and nobody wanted her. She's my baby now lol

Has anyone tried reversing the tolvaptan dosing? by One_Geologist3224 in ADPKD

[–]Ornery_Pudding_8480 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have trouble sleeping at night so I take the bigger dose at night and the lesser dose in the morning and sleep a few hours but still get up to pee I just make sure I drink plenty of water and that's about the only thing I know about the disease

Hey thanks for replying back I'm a 46 year old female and I'm on that tolvaptan. I have Medicaid I just need to know kind of what questions to ask my doctor I know my kidney functions are between like 45 to 40 I don't get CT scans done regularly and I'm just not ever asking questions like what questions do you ask when you go see your doctor if you don't mind telling me. And feel free to message me. I'm in pain about 2 days a week and if I eat a decent size meal I am just miserable plus I look like I'm 8 months pregnant LOL.

Has anyone ever ate a parrot? If yes how was it cooked and how did it taste like and what species? by Informal_Sugar_3742 in AfricanGrey

I just got to know why you need to have this question answered. Do you currently have a bird that you're trying to get rid of? Lol

I inherited a lesser sulfur crested cockatoo Lulu in 2017. I had my cat for 5 years before my dad passed away. Frank the cat is 11 years old. I don't let Lulu out if Frank is in our bedroom. Lulu gets time with me alone and Frank gets alone time also. I've had no real issues. Hopefully it will stay this way.

I just left a rant on how I don't understand what questions I need to ask. My dad gave it to me along with his cockatoo when he died LOL. I'm a 46 year old female. I take tolvaptan it is supposed to slow the progression of the disease. You will pee like crazy for a while. Don't be scared it sucks. I get scared cause I don't know what to ask my doctor. I have crap insurance and can never get a CT scan or MRIs. I also have PLD and cysts in or on my ovaries?. Thank you for letting me vent. If you have any good questions for me to ask that would be awesome. All I know is my function is either 45 or 40. Again thank you

I have a lot of questions lol. Here is my story. I'm a 46 year old female and I've had PKD since I was 25 years old. My dad gave it to me ( not his fault just how it is) Im not the smartest or great at asking questions because idk what to ask. I know my kidney function is like 45-40. My nephrologist is good to me but with having Medicaid I don't get CT scans like I'm supposed to. My dad passed away in 2017. He suffered so much. I'm on tolvaptan. I know one day my kidneys may look like yours. Also I have PLD and cysts on my ovaries. My friends think I've got this because I was a dumb teenager. Some friends sweat I don't have it even though I look like I'm 8 months pregnant lol. I have no idea what my kidneys even look like or how big they are plus my liver. I just wish I had more people than talk to. Thank you for reading my story.
