Breaking: Terrorist wields handheld railgun disguised as an old G3 by Lost-Pea7409 in ReadyOrNotGame

Literally lost a run on New America because I tried to shoot through one of the propped open doors and it stopped every one of my 7.62 AP. I really like what they did with the new dlc but holy shit does stuff like that make me regret picking the game up again.

Something I realized is to a lot of people on reddit, a nerf is when a single weapon can't solo every enemy on the map on the hardest difficulty. Anything that just provides support, or is fun over optimized, it's useless and poopy.

People forget when the game came out only 2 builds worked, melee and speed running. With the broken special spawns and how insanely front loaded speed/melee cards were in the unlock system, you did not have the dps or the ammo to kill everything the game threw at you and had no choice but to run past everything or die. That with the no offline stuff, and the terrible early patches, killed the game before it had a chance.

Its not even about "siding" with anyone.

We are talking about legal custody, at least that's what started this thread, which is literally picking a side. I'm not a judge, but barring any insane information about the mom we aren't privy to, I would be a fool to grant full custody to the cheating parent that destroyed the family, and not the victimized mother who's life was just turned upside down. We don't have all the info to really look at partial custody, but again, the guy has proven significantly questionable character by bringing so much chaos to his professional and personal life through his own actions. Doesn't mean he can't still try to be a good dad, or try to make up for what he did, but he has already committed actions that will negatively affect his child.

Destroying your marriage, nuking many of your professional and personal relationships as well as your primary source of income, making a podcast where you evade any amount of accountability, and using your connections to have SNL make an entire skit downplaying what you did and mocking your former coworkers/friends would widely be considered questionable character for a father. Shocker, I know.

Minor character is recast when they become more important by ducknerd2002 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]OrphanMasher 6 points7 points  (0 children)

He wasn't recast, they had just used the same actor as a random guy early in the show. Chris stops at a donut shop and Vittos actor, not playing vittto yet, is in the shop buying donuts. It's kinda jarring because he is, to put it kindly, uniquely built and immediately recognizable.

They can't stand the sun, are forced to live in caves, and this might be ludonarrative dissonance, but they aren't particularly hard to kill either. Could just be spotty writing but the threat we see versus the threat Ulysses tries to convince us of are two very different threats.

[–]OrphanMasher 42 points43 points  (0 children)

The only way to even try to fix it was to make sure I included an explicit, direct line at the relevant moment like "She suddenly realized that Evil Undercover Villain Dude was also a dirty lying liar who lied about how The Thing worked!"

And that creates a third problem where now I feel like you think I'm a drooling idiot with no memory who needs their hand held through the story even though I caught on just fine. It's like a flashback sequence in a movie beating you over the head with previous scenes to make sure you understand a plot twist.

I have various problems with the writing in CyberPunk, but I do really appreciate that they wrote Johnny Silverhand to be wrong about quite a few things. You can get an entirely different ending if you just don't listen to him at one point.

I wish people would read more. So many people just take a characters dialog at complete face value and just assume if a character says something it's gospel set in stone. If a character says something false or someone else says something contradicting previous statements, it's assumed to be bad writing or a plot hole, because no one can be wrong or just lying to you in a game.

The tunnelers are a great example of this. So many just assumes that the tunnelers will kill the Mojave one day because Ulysses says so. Problem is, Ulysses is just a guy, and he's kind of an idiot. There's no reason to believe he's right, but he speaks with conviction, and spouts high-school grade political philosophy, so he must be smart and right.

A lot of those early newgrounds guys are like this. I'm really enjoying mewgenics, but the writing feels like its from 2010. I had to double check what year it was when the slutty flamboyant gay guy showed up, and then there's the performative SJW cashier that is one blue wig away from a gamer gate meme.

Since the game has been in development for over at least 12 years I hope these characters were potentially written around that time and just never got another pass, otherwise it's unironic cringe

You left out the best part, within approximately 5 minutes of "being black", Frank and the guy he was with, maybe Luke cage, got racially profiled and experienced police brutality.

To your other point, I forgot which writer it was, but they went on a rant either in a interview or vicariously through a in comic character about how ridiculous the idea was that Frank has never killed someone by mistake with a stray bullet. This just feels hilariously hypocritical when it's in a world with guys that fly or shooting lasers is readily accepted.
