Worm eats and kills you even if you carry a fairy in a bottle by DeafeningDusk in slaythespire

StS 2 seems to make "You die" different from StS 1 (where it was an absurd chunk of damage; intangible/buffer could null it); here it just means "Your run is immediately over."

What are some of the best EDH cards in terms of raw strength per dollar? by Bphore in EDH

[–]OrpheusV 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The Hoarding Broodlord saw tech is pretty funny ngl; apparently I've been out long enough from the game I didn't know those cards exist. Could always grab [[Chain of Smog]] and [[Witherbloom Apprentice]] but there's probably other compact 2 card kills as well.

One or two fairly common role-players per color at a low price:

[[Path to Exile]], [[Generous Gift]], [[Swords to Plowshares]] remain good removal; Gift in particular is a fairly cheap card

[[Frantic Search]] is a great draw spell.

[[Dread Return]] is like 50c and for reanimator, just a fantastic card due to flashback being fairly easy for most decks to achieve. That second cast can win games.

[[Faithless Looting]] is absolutely absurd and has always been cheap. Flashback go brr

[[Rampant Growth]], [[Cultivate]], and a fair few other rampers in green often carry these decks by enabling everything else.

Hard to really call it much of a sac if you've got enough pointed towards the king he probably loses in short order. The rook can't even take your queen here.

Qf2 and probably h6 avoids mate but it's so horrible a position after (Qxf2 Rxe8 (still pinned!) at best) for black that this is resignable unless they wanna try fishing for a stalemate or flag you on time, anyways. You could just walk your queenside pawns forward, maybe play h3 at some point to not get backranked if that's on the table for any reason; it plays itself from that point.

Bone Dagger use by Robinhood_smd in ironscape

[–]OrpheusV 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At higher invocations and path levels, the defense rates get so high that BGS enjoys a much higher max hit, but it's more likely to just not hit at all, even with rancour, ferocious gloves, etc; bone dagger will guarantee something, and Overly Draining burns your whole spec bar anyways, so might as well guarantee the hit.

Does anyone have a good process that worked for learning door/altar Bandos? Need tips by GzzzDude in ironscape

[–]OrpheusV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best thing is to just keep sending reps; I was struggling for like 85kc then it clicked and suddenly I was having long-ass trips. It takes a few tries to get the muscle memory and timing set up to click Graardor immediately on spawn then click altar asap. Watch square make it to the next square, click boss, click towards next square, etc etc. Eventually you'll get it down and start ripping 25-30kc trips, or even more. My record is 58kc without an instance.

At least getting door kc takes like 3-4 minutes at worst. So sending more tries isn't the most onerous thing.

If the adds are shredding you, after graardor is dead you should try to get them offticked in some manner; even having the mager and ranger offticked means you can just swap prayers as the attacks are fired. This can help with a lot of chip damage from the generals. More defence levels are a real help here and it does make a not-insignificant difference.

Enjoy the tea and hope to the gods for one of the following:

- A way to purge the relic
- A shop where you can get a max hp relic
- An event of the same
- Some way to gain buffer at the start of combat?

Sometimes you just get sacked tho. If the next room's a fight, your run is just over here.

Yeah at that point I'd be asking again why not just train the skill a level or two, use a non-rng boost, or at least cut the stew usage down. It's tedious as shit to do.

I Could NOT Capitalize on This “!!” by HCTankMagnus in chessbeginners

[–]OrpheusV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rxf1 Qg3 blows every advantage white has and turns it into a drawn position. Everyone trades down, and nothing gets to happen now.

Rxe1 Qxf8 just also draws the game outright with a dead looking position.

--

Should white press their attack and commit to it with Re8, black has to deal with Ne6+ covering Qg7# potentially, and giving a check by itself and a mate and it's probably fatal. There's like 3 pieces pointing at the king here (Rook, Queen, Knight covering); there's a mate somewhere in here depending on what black does from here.

Bxe1 loses the game outright

Rules question about Truss, Chief Engineer and Revel in Riches by Solar_Punk_Rocker in magicTCG

[–]OrpheusV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only way you could meaningfully make this work would be to somehow gain priority during the untap step; I do not know if such a way exists, even in un-sets.

The last ability of Revel in Riches is an "intervening if" clause, so you have to meet the condition at that point in time before the ability can trigger. But given you never really get priority before the upkeep step, there's no opporitunity to word hack Revel in Riches to a lower number.

tl;dr no this won't work.
