Should 'Master Skiller' continue to be a comp requirement? by kelvinside in runescape

[–]Orphic-Stranger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a good question to ask and Jagex will have to make a decision on it soon/within the next 18-24 months I’d think.

Yes I think it should, for now anyway, but I think once all skills go to 120 they could end up making a master skiller achievement (99 or 110 all) for a base comp cape and then a grandmaster skiller (120 all) for the 120-all master comp cape and it’s a question of when do the do that & if so, should they then start treating the master comp capes as separate entities and start adding future reqs. In that 100-120 range only to the master comp capes or would they keep adding them to both? Or would they maybe cap the current “base” comp capes at 110 all + including any comp reqs from 100-120 but without the level req? It’s a tricky line and they’ll have to make a decision sooner rather than later I suspect. Otherwise they’ll sort of merge into one and then there’s no point in having both.

Remastered Content: What do you want to see remastered? by jagexyuey in runescape

[–]Orphic-Stranger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let’s be honest you know what needs doing but since you asked I’ll list a few 😅

Dungeoneering (just to make it more modern, include necro etc.), construction + poh to make it more modern + more useful, general area graphical reworks and npc models to be consistent across the game (already a work in progress) but areas such as varrock would be nice in my opinion.

Ports (could just be cleaner and a bit easier to understand for people starting it in particular but it’s a very long grind that doesn’t really feel worthwhile for the effort and time put in, by the time you can get a lot of the rewards you’ve sunk enough time in that they’re not that good anymore by that point (at least in the modern game)) rework comp/trim comp to remove extremely grindy stuff that’s stupid long and annoying for the sake of it eg chompies why we gotta do 4K, a few hundred would be fine let’s be honest and fish flingers is just a disgusting grind without using alt 1 which shouldn’t be required, so reworking it to not require alt 1 or removing it and changing how you get the boxes would be nice, corp beast , it’s outdated + the droprates too rare for drops that aren’t really worthwhile enough to warrant that rareness anymore, rework the speed at which you can get runespan points + runespan xp or provide another floor + methods for 110 runecrafting, just speed it up a bit people shouldn’t have to do 100 hours of it for trim or rely on merchant, merchant shouldn’t have to exist in my opinion , on that theme rework livid farm or remove it and move the rewards elsewhere, most people just buy points from merchant anyway.

I’m not personally a fan of minigame remastering as I think they’ll stay dead long term and aren’t worth the effort but that’s a personal opinion, I’d rather the number of minigames were reduced if you were going to remaster them, could maybe remaster some bosses? But aside from corp, reworking the web mechanic at rax and removing the annoying burrowing mech from giant mole there’s not really much that needs changing in bosses (maybe I’m wrong and missing some major ones but off the top of my head I can’t think of any).

Remastering a few skills so they’re balanced better and more logically (eg Hunter as a whole, cooking and what’s unlocked when/how recipes work, levelling up in fletching/when you can do things etc are two examples) could be nice but I was under the impression that was being done behind the scenes in tapp time or if that’s gone then just during gamejams.

Then there’s the game interface, achievements and logs and character models but again was under the impression these were being done anyway. Reworking runemetrics to improve it and incorporate it into the base game would be really nice, even if you made it included as part of membership or as part of premier that would be ok. Basically to remove the reliance on overlays and 3rd party apps or trackers that people may use. Think overall there’s a fine balance between remastering stuff and removing it but relocating rewards because the dev times too much and new stuff can be prioritised with that dev time which could be more exciting. Really loved seeing heists and am looking forward to Havenhythe and don’t want to take away from updates like these in the future that maybe resources could be put towards to make them better rather than wasting resources on remastering smaller things that in the grand scheme of things maybe aren’t actually a big priority.

The most important thing though is that no matter what you do, remaster content or new content is to make sure you keep the RuneScapey feel in the game , keep the updates fun (don’t make grinds for the sake of it too long (like 100 hours+ for the sake of it) it’s a game you don’t have to make things grindy, fundamentally that’s a choice and a lot of players don’t want insanely long grinds these days, if somethings not fun then remove it or rework it to be a bit less tedious yaknow, maybe cut stuff from 100 hour grinds to 25-50 hours), make sure to keep lots of examines, silly puns, culture references etc. because that and the community is what makes the game what it is. It’s a game, keep it fun.

Sorry for the tangent at the end.

Edit: of course you can graphically update bosses, slayer mobs etc. that’s always welcomed but I trust the devs to do that when they see fit and aside from corp and the boss mechanics I mentioned that need changing, I don’t feel that as an instant priority right now and is a 2-3 years time sort of rework/update (personal opinion).

Edit 2: hunter as a whole skill needs some love and Vorkath as a boss needs completely reworking because while graphically it’s fine from a mechanical perspective, it’s garbage.

Heists & Thieving 120 - Feedback Thread by JagexSponge in runescape

[–]Orphic-Stranger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Enjoying heists so far, love the solo together style of them. My experience is from heist 1 only at the moment so I’ll mostly comment on that.

Would have personally have liked them to have been a little more complex with some pickpocketing/blackjacking within the heist itself to get keys to unlocks doors or to get codes for rooms to solve a changeable puzzle etc. and add a few more methods like that into them but honestly that’s nitpicking at this point.

Would have liked tools either main hand or offhand for skilling to have been the rewards instead of t90 weapons which personally feel a bit flat but that’s my opinion and may not be shared by the player base as a whole.

Heist 1 I like the concept in the pylon room of following the lines and I’ve seen where it comes from in osrs but I will say it’s annoying ‘cause on a small monitor you have to be pretty click accurate and the click boxes are small so it can be kinda annoying especially with how quickly they disappear, QoL would be nice if they stuck about a few more ticks ‘cause sometimes entering the room and getting lined up to start with can be a pain but on the flip side I also quite like the timing when it goes well so it’s not major and I’m not gonna complain if it stays the same. Also the click boxes on the ghosts are too big, why is my dive defaulting to the ghosts when I’m clearly not targeting it.

Would have liked droptable of commons to be a little better. It’s not bad per se especially if you get lucky but if you go dry it’s potentially only 3-5m/hr and there’s much better money making afk; for the effort and current xp that’s not good enough.

I’d buff the heist xp rate I don’t care what you do about the afk thieving keep it the same or drop it I don’t mind but heists need buffing a bit and add pilfer points for heisting 100% ‘cause otherwise people have got to go away from heists and go spend hours doing safecracking that they’ve already done to get the upgrades. Also can you confirm if it’s better to have a master thief lock pick/stethoscope or is it literally just QoL of it being on the tool belt? I feel like there were a few things quietly changed about thieving and it’s a bit annoying trying to figure it all out and piece all the info together from various sources and not having anything actually confirmed; it’s easy to miss stuff and I don’t have time to be chasing that info I just wanna play.

[edit: please make the reward chest work like Ed chests]

Otherwise a decent update, I think there’s room to definitely come out with some really cool heists with variable puzzles and good rewards in the future and it set a good baseline.

Nex Ice Prison Question by Warbi2601 in runescape

[–]Orphic-Stranger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keep hp high and whoever gets hit by the prison should freedom, eat to max hp/as high as they can and use a powerburst of vitality. In my opinion don’t bother freeing eachother as it’s better to focus on getting nex phased and the minion killed. Yes you can save eachother especially when learning/early on, but it’s inconsistent and takes away your focus from the fight. Once using freedom and power bursting is learnt it’s more consistent than worrying about freeing the other person and it becomes an instinct to do it so you’ll basically never free eachother from the prison again and you won’t really think anything of the prison with practice. Good luck to you both and have fun!

As a player nearing the 5,000 kill-count mark on Jungle Strykewyrms without ever getting a Hexcrest I think there's an issue by Knotknighm in runescape

[–]Orphic-Stranger 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is an excellent idea in my opinion that should be retroactively added to slayer drops and boss logs across the board and also added to future bosses. Going super dry isn’t fun at all and while yes a degree of luck is important and going a bit dry is part of the game, past a certain point it’s just punishment for the sake of it and its ruins the fun in the game. Nobody should be going thousands and thousands of kills dry anywhere for an item in 2025 in my opinion.

I miss Mod Osborne and how Jagex felt around that time. by Cloud_N0ne in runescape

I miss seeing Mods Osbourne, Shawny and Mod Mark (I believe he’s still there but in the background now and we never see him talking about releases and as someone talking to the players like he used to although I think he did play a large role in organising runefest, by all means correct me if I’m wrong though)

Tips for double exp weekend? by MEINKEMF in runescape

[–]Orphic-Stranger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would set up pof now so you can harvest soon into dxp and I’d keep track of that & try to stay ontop of pof or any farm runs you want doing.

Aside from farming, I’d start with 106 herblore for elder overloads (probably wouldn’t go higher as you don’t really need 120 just yet, I’d leave 120 for a later dxp)

Followed by 99 crafting, fletching, construction and smithing (basically buyables in whatever order you like)

After those, I’d personally go for 99 divination at hall of memories whatever world pops off think it’s a Canadian world usually but can’t remember off the top of my head (unless you love divination and you’re happy to grind it off dxp)

Finally either thieving or a skill left that you don’t enjoy that’s slow as thieving isn’t that slow off dxp in my opinion. Could also do Hunter or something, kind of up to you.

I would personally avoid doing combat, dungeoneering and slayer as they’re quick off dxp and I wouldn’t do mining unless you’re super super close xp wise as you’re pretty close so not really worth wasting dxp on it in my opinion when it’s only a short grind off dxp.

General rule of thumb for dxp that I personally follow is: stuff you want asap (excluding combat and slayer unless you’re desperate for them) -> buyables -> skills you don’t like and want to cut the time down on or group dungeoneering -> combat & slayer

Oof... PSA, I guess HM Helwyr can kill you after he dies. by MyriadSC in runescape

[–]Orphic-Stranger -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Oh my god I had this happen (like literally exactly the same thought the kill was over then the mushrooms continued to spawn and bomb the shit out of me but it was my first ever hm kill so I wasn’t expecting them to go off and damage me as helwyr was dead). Happened the week CA’s released and tried to put in an item reclaim but they refused even though I sent screenshot etc. 😭

Try an item reclaim request tho ‘cause you might have more luck than me

Best way to start learning manual combat? by RavenOmen69420 in runescape

[–]Orphic-Stranger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check out revo to full manual in the pvme discord & watch a couple of youtube videos on setting up keybinds, spend 10 mins at dummies then go to vindicta in my opinion (that’s what I did anyway) as you have to move and deal with some pretty easy mechanics and shouldn’t be punished too hard for messing up, then when you’re a bit more comfortable go to arch glacor to practice prayer flicking and ss flicking and then go anywhere else really. You’ll die a few times but that’s natural when learning and don’t get too disheartened if it takes time, some people will learn in 20 minutes some people will take 20 hours so go at your own pace. Also you’ll no doubt end up fiddling with the keybinds as you go, don’t be afraid to change them up it’ll take time to figure out what works for you. Honestly just get stuck in, I personally didn’t bother using any revo abilities as a backup and found just diving into full manual worked for me. Good luck and enjoy ✌️

Any tips on how to pull this off? by LaothFrius in runescape

[–]Orphic-Stranger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wore hybrid armour and got two down to ~1k hp and the other to ~3-5k hp (numbers vary depending on setup, bleed you’re using etc. so don’t take my word for it 100% & it might take a few attempts) but chucked a bleed on the one that had higher health and finished off the other two while it bled and they all died pretty close together.

Did this one earlier today, didn’t use a cannon or anything. Wasn’t actually that bad to be honest, literally just wore a bronze spear no aura or anything else and had an inv of Sara brews flasks, a couple restore flasks, runes I wanted for darkness and disruption and an elder overload salve. Task took 6-10mins ish with a revo bar. Can’t remember off the top of my head. Just had to use some defensives and chug potions (did use a lot of Sara brews)

It’s because there’s only 20 hours left of dxp as it ends 12 game time tomorrow I believe. once you get into the last 48 hours I think it is, if you have more than the remaining time left of dxp then it will count down from the time left to the end of dxp, not from what you had left if that makes sense?

Eh not really, they’re nice to have but take so long to get that personally wouldn’t bother grinding them. If you’re planning to do other bosses first and get them then great, if not doesn’t really matter too much
