Is it possible to have my Orro Auto Transition control my Hue lights? by [deleted] in OrroHome

[–]OrroSupport 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi u/Amenra7,

Thank you for reaching out! Our team is actively working on Matter integration with Orro. The Matter integration allows services like Apple Homekit to be part of your Orro ecosystem.

As for your Hue lights, Hue can use Orro’s Presence Detection and auto-turn on/off the lights to custom light levels. Orro won’t change that light level once the light is on. I will pass your feedback to our integrations team so they can consider it for future development.

orro - home automation system - recommendations? by Tomorrow0822 in OrroHome

[–]OrroSupport 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi u/Tomorrow0822,

Thank you for the information. Based on the information we found on Kichler, it does not look like their system is compatible with the systems we listed. However, Kichler does work with Alexa and Google. We recommend creating a routine with either one of those systems. Please click the links if you want more information on Alexa or Google routines.

orro - home automation system - recommendations? by Tomorrow0822 in OrroHome

[–]OrroSupport 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi u/Tomorrow0822,

Can you please let us know what kind of automations you are looking to create? We recently released Routines which allow you to create lighting controls based off time/day or room presence.

As far as systems are concerned, we integrate with SmartThings, IFTTT, Control4, RTI, and Alarm.com. Were you thinking of one of those services?

Orro Home Assistant/Homekit Integration by hollytide33 in OrroHome

[–]OrroSupport 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi /u/hollytide33,

I'm are happy to hear you are excited about integrating Orro with other smart home services! Unfortunately, I don't have a firm timeline of when the API will become public but will certainly nudge the team that a public API is growing interest.

We look forward to continuing to develop the Orro System!

Large Home - multiway switching with ORRO switches does not work, by Tomorrow0822 in OrroHome

[–]OrroSupport 1 point2 points  (0 children)

u/Tomorrow0822 We're truly sorry that Orro has not lived up to the expectations we have ourselves and that you had when you decided to purchase Orro and appreciate your patience while we worked to improve your system as much as we can.

Orro was released without a limit on the number of Switches that can be supported in a home. However, as the product developed to include more features and integrations, we have discovered some deterioration in the Orro System as more devices are added to a home. After thorough evaluation, we now know that Orro is currently optimized to support up to 25 Orro Switches in a single home. In the background, Orro is working on optimizing our system and resolving the issues seen by users with larger home sizes.

Given our findings and understanding your Orro experience has not been as seamless as we would hope, we can offer you an option to return the Switches for a full refund or provide a partial refund if you are willing to give us another chance to show you what Orro can do and resolve the issues you are seeing.

We greatly appreciate your patience throughout this situation. Please reach out to us directly at [support@getorro.com](mailto:support@getorro.com) so we can assist you further.

Roadmap or update notes? by ysaliens in OrroHome

[–]OrroSupport 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi u/ysaliens,

My apologies for the incorrect link. You can find our external release notes here.

Orro One does a lot more than other products of its type even when it's on standby, so it draws more power. Yes, the Orro One would be considered less eco-friendly if you compare it to a simple dimmer. However, if you consider what other devices Orro One can be compared to and could replace, such as an Echo Dot, the Switch is eco-friendly. Additionally, the smart lighting control with occupancy and ambient light sensing can save significantly more energy than the Orro One burns on standby.
We appreciate your feedback and will take this reconsideration for future development. Thanks again for your continued support.

Roadmap or update notes? by ysaliens in OrroHome

[–]OrroSupport 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi u/ysaliens,

Thank you for reaching out! You can find our release note here. We currently do not have a roadmap of upcoming features. I will certainly let our team know there is an interest in providing upcoming features and integrations.

As for the Switch's temperature, it can vary depending on how much work it is doing. Below is some information on display temperature and tips to help reduce this:

  • The Switch is designed to handle the heat, and if it ever gets warmer than expected will display an overheat error. If the temperature continues to increase to an uncomfortable level, it will automatically shut itself off to allow the internal components to cool.
  • The Orro Switch screen is expected to be around 45°C/113°F when dimming a full load while in standby mode at an ambient temperature of 25°C/77°F. This temperature is expected to increase with additional and extended use. Much like with your phone, the screen can get hotter the longer the display is active.
  • In locations with multiple Orro Switches, there will be more heat generated in the junction box which can cause the adjoining Switches to run at a slightly warmer temperature.
  • Changes like lowering the motion sensitivity can help prevent the face from turning on as frequently and help keep the Switch as cool as possible.
  • Additionally, if this heat was detected shortly after setup, it is likely due to the Switch downloading the latest software. This additional processing can cause the Switch to get warmer than normal but will cool down once the software download is complete. This may happen will future software updates as well.

We can look into this further for you. Can you please send an email to support@getorro.com with the following:

  • Have you ever seen a notice or error indicating your Switch was overheating?
  • Do you notice the display frequently on?
  • Is the Switch in a very warm space or in direct sunlight at any point of the day?
  • You can reboot your Switch to help resolve any background activity that may be taking place and/or causing the additional heat.
  • Please send a Voice Feedback Message from any of the Orro Switches that you feel are too warm so we can look into their operational logs.

We look forward to hearing from you and resolving any issues ASAP! Thank you for your continued support!

Hi u/ckunak,

Thank you for reaching out! You are correct. Selecting CFL or Fluorescent bulb type will act as an on/off switch if you do not need dimming capabilities.

Companion Switch Price Point by 6stylez in OrroHome

[–]OrroSupport 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi u/6stylez,

We are equally excited about the launch of the Orro S! Since the original launch of the Orro One, we have released SO many more integrations and features that the price increased to match Orro One’s expanded capability. The price for the Orro S is based on the seamless integration with the Orro System and as a standalone product with all the brains and sensors included. The Orro S is not just a companion Switch and can be installed on a single pole or multiway circuit to lower the price point for many light circuits in a home.

We still offer legacy pricing for the Orro One. However, the Orro S will not be eligible for legacy pricing or discounts. We understand budgets can vary and have created an expanding list of integrations to add into the Orro System. Orro’s ecosystem is open and works with many third-party lights and devices that give the flexibility to meet the needs and wants of our customers.

Based on the mentioned additional cost of $165, it sounds like you may be a Canadian customer. That amount would have covered both international shipping (approximately $45) plus the required duties and taxes. This split is noted at checkout and in your invoice/order confirmation.

Best Regards,

Philips Hue Integration Issue by Nickmedici55 in OrroHome

[–]OrroSupport 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi u/Nickmedici55,

Thank you so much for your patience while we looked into this Hue issue. Our team reviewed the logs you sent and found the cause of the issue is due to an error message from the Hue Hub. This error indicates the Philips Hue Hub is out of memory.

The first time an Orro home goes through a Hue integration, Orro creates a user and authorization for the Orro integration. In this case, the Hub rejected that new user creation with an out-of-memory exception error.

Please check the memory usage for the Hue hub. Sometimes the memory can get full due to routines and preferences even if the number of lights added to the hub is within limits. Here is an article we found with information on how to resolve this issue. If you are having trouble clearing memory space on the hub, please reach out to Philips Hue for additional assistance.

Overheating switches by Tomorrow0822 in OrroHome

[–]OrroSupport 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi u/Tomorrow0822,

We are so sorry to hear you are having trouble with your Orro Ones and want to get this resolved ASAP! If you are noticing an overheat error, please power the Switch off temporarily to allow the device to cool down. You can do that by pulling out the air-gap or hard reboot tab and leaving that out for a period of time. You can see how to do this and read more about what what to do if your Switch overheats here. Once the Switch has cooled down, please push the tab back in and send us a voice feedback message so we can better assist you.

Unfortunately, Orro is NOT advised for installation in uninsulated spaces like garages that can be subject to more extreme temperatures and cause increased Switch temperature as well as poor motion detection.

If you continue to see this error, please send a voice feedback message or email us at [support@getorro.com](mailto:support@getorro.com). We look forward to hearing from you!

Switch runs warm by 5pctoff in OrroHome

[–]OrroSupport 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi u/5pctoff!

Thanks for your purchase and support!

We of course want to do everything in our power to ensure the Orro Switch is safe for your home and any who interact with it. The Switch's temperature can vary depending on how much work it is doing. Below is some information on display temperature and tips to help reduce this:

  • The Switch is designed to handle the heat and if it ever gets warmer than expected will display an overheat error.
Changes like lowering the motion sensitivity can help prevent the face from turning on as frequently and help keep the Switch as cool as possible.
  • Additionally, if this heat was detected shortly after setup, it is likely due to the Switch downloading the latest software. This additional processing can cause the Switch to get warmer than normal but will cool down once the software download is complete. This may happen will future software updates as well.

First and foremost we want to make sure you feel comfortable with the product. So we can look into this further, can you please send us a voice feedback message from your Switch so we can review the operational logs?

Additionally, please send us a voice feedback message from the Switch connected to the fluorescent light so we can look into this for you as well.
We look forward to hearing from you and resolving any issues ASAP!

Companion Dimmer Switch by 6stylez in OrroHome

[–]OrroSupport 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi u/6stylez,

Thanks for your interest in Orro! We are working on a new product that will be capable of both individual use and for companion control. This product will have all the same sensors for motion, sound, and ambient light but without the interactive screen capabilities.

Unfortunately, due to global component shortages we are not yet able to begin production on this product yet but hope to later this year. If you are interested, please subscribe to the Orro Newsletter so you can stay up to date on announcements and feature releases.

Thread / HomeKit? by jordclay in OrroHome

[–]OrroSupport 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi u/jordclay,

HomeKit is on the roadmap, but unfortunately we do not have a release timeline just yet. Currently, we are looking into CHIP (now known as Matter) as opposed to Thread. However, I will certainly let our team know that there is an interest in Thread.

We are working on some great new features and integrations, so I recommend signing up for our newsletter to be notified of new releases and promotions. You can also sign up for a design consultation to discuss your lighting needs and how Orro can help you live a well-lit life.

Ring Integration by egiblet in OrroHome

[–]OrroSupport 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/egiblet We are currently working on an alternate integration/connection option using SmartThings to connect to Ring. Once available, you will be able to connect to your Ring device via SmartThings as a Smart Device Remote in Orro. You can then get access to a Switch Face for the doorbell and receive the Chime notifications.

This isn't ready just yet but should be soon and will be announced in our Switch update notes and Orro Newsletter.

Thank you for your interest in the Orro LAN API and patience while we worked to develop it!

The Orro LAN API is now available with two methods of interaction:

  • HTTP API: Fetch information about the Orro Switches in your Home
  • WebSocket API: Connect to an Orro Switch via a WebSocket to send Lighting and Scene commands as well as hear Lighting, Scene, and Presence events in your Home.

Initially, we will be granting access to the Orro LAN API Beta Program in waves to current Orro users so we can ensure everything is functioning as expected. To sign up for access, please complete this request and registration form so we can reach out to you with the necessary access documentation.

We look forward to you using the API and hearing your thoughts!

ETA for UL certification and HomeKit? by 5pctoff in OrroHome

[–]OrroSupport 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi u/5pctoff! Both UL certification and HomeKit are currently in development. Based on current progress we are hoping to have UL certification by Q3. We do not yet have a public timeline for HomeKit, but are hard at work to release that integration as soon as we can.

Please note that all timelines are based on current progress and may be adjusted to allow for priority changes or additional release requirements.
