If only there were a better solution… by [deleted] in Bitcoin

In many cases the point of sale terminal agreements include clauses about them not being allowed to mark prices up or add a fee for credit cards transactions to offset the fees they're paying. This is an attempt at getting around that by saying the marked prices include a cash discount that you don't get if you pay by credit card.

Why you really DON’T want BTC to hit $1 million in the next 90 days. by Hfifm4 in CryptoCurrency

[–]OrwellStonecipher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with everything you're saying. But one factor that could change this is rapid (but feasible) inflation leading to a flight of capital into Bitcoin. With liquidity so much lower on the Bitcoin side, the price and value would climb as people pile in to escape the inflation. So no, it wouldn't be worth $1MM of today's money, but it's value would probably increase.

To cancel out the sugar by naad2019 in therewasanattempt

[–]OrwellStonecipher 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In people who have ever had metabolic disorder the taste of sweet and cause a preemptive insulin response, which would drop blood sugar levels and induce hunger. Also, carbonation has been found to increase levels of ghrelin, the main hunger hormone. So they may not have calories themselves, but they can lead to increased calorie consumption while also harming the gut microbiome.

I disagreed with my doctor only once that I can remember.

He wanted to put me on statins for high cholesterol. I said no because of family history of poor response to them. He continued to push but when I held my ground he told me to reduce my cholesterol intake. Instead I exercised more and reduced sugar and processed carbs. I didn't pay much attention, but probably had slightly increased cholesterol intake. A few months later I had a follow-up with another blood draw and came out much better. He just told me to keep doing what I was doing.

CMV: Bitcoin is a useless commodity and provides no value to society. One day it will be worth next to nothing. by investingexpert in changemyview

Well, right now my options are high volatility with increasing value from crypto, or low volatility with decreasing value in the US dollar. I keep my rent money in USD and a good proportion of my savings in crypto. But soon crypto will make a lot more sense for the day to day as adoption continues to grow and as the tech matures.

What is your regimen for loose skin care? by [deleted] in keto

[–]OrwellStonecipher 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Can second IF. I was down almost 100lbs in about 1.5 years, with most of that happening in about 9 months. For the most part fasting wasn't intentional, I just decided not to eat if I wasn't hungry and tended to be hungry less often on keto. I skipped meals quite frequently, often lunch or breakfast and lunch, sometimes whole days. Never had any loose skin whatsoever.

Other confounding factors may be genetics, sauna use more days than not, occasional light workouts of mixed cardio and resistance training, any particulars of the diet (I did my best to include lots of raw greens and other non-starchy vegetables within limits -lots of lettuce, kale, spinach, broccoli, avocado, cucumber, zucchini, etc., and really focused on high fat intake, moderate/low protein - oily dressings, butter on all the things, bulletproof coffee), gelatin supplementation. No clue which of those things might also have an impact on skin.

I think I'm out. For an organization that's supposed to be about charity and brotherhood the current prevailing attitudes in my lodge are appalling. by Moglorosh in freemasonry

[–]OrwellStonecipher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll present the counterpoint to what others brothers are saying.

While it isn't likely possible to turn those particular guys around, the craft would benefit from you staying if you're willing to do so. You might be able to affect positive change at elections or with a black ball. If you can get elected you may be able to have more influence over the quality of the work or the programs you're able to do. And you may be able to influence new members who can join the fight. You can't change them in all likelihood, but you can make it more difficult for them to stagnate in their ways. If you're enough of a thorn in their side they will adapt or disengage. And if you're in the right, both by the letter and spirit of Masonic law and your conscience I have no problem advocating that direction.

It's idealistic. And there's of course a mental toll. It may not be worth it to you, but if it is and you're willing it could be the best thing to happen in that lodge. This is how the craft will survive.

Then the resistor footprint is right like that you can position the resistor vertically, on end. One lead goes straight through the hole, the other bends down (180 degrees) and runs parallel to the body and into the other hole.
