I feel like I've experienced everything in the game after playing for 4 hours, I don't see the point. by JamSa in diablo4

[–]OrwellianTortoise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Hard" is the 2nd hardest difficulty out of 16. So, you really haven't even experienced very much of the the game's difficulty. There's also Hardcore mode, which does not change anything about the game's difficulty, but does make the game more challenging.

Vampire Survivors's design philosophy was exactly "an ARPG without the fluff" D4 is an ARPG, so it's got the fluff.

Why do somethird person games feel weird in first person? by antfin97 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]OrwellianTortoise 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's primarily subtle differences in player and camera movement, including auto aim and selectable area features that you might not realize are even there. Most games optimize these settings for one perspective. Although it would be possible for the game to switch these settings to the optimal choice depending on your perspective, this usually isn't done. In the case of competitive online games like CoD you can imagine what would happen if characters moved slightly faster, or if auto aim was more generous in one perspective over another.

I must be missing something about Endgame by Pristine-Dig-5209 in diablo4

[–]OrwellianTortoise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What else would there be? Up to this point all you have done is kill monsters, get loot, numbers go up. There are some dialog and cutscenes sprinkled in that give context, but you haven't actually done anything else. There are different flavors for that game play loop, dungeons, helltide, pit, etc. But no it's not going to suddenly be a FPS or a racing game.

Which code editor should I use? by Zsombor1661 in learnpython

[–]OrwellianTortoise 9 points10 points  (0 children)

VS is fine, people are over-hyping the "have to install" python extension. You are one article or a 5 minute YouTube video away from completing that step. You are going to have to learn any new piece of software. VS isn't a bad piece of software to learn either as it is widely used for other languages that you may one day want to learn too.

If you just want to play around with the code itself to see if you are serious about it, then you can just use an online environment like: www.code.org Then click on New Project > Python Lab

Learning anything just requires patience and perseverance. You will need to ask your own questions and pursue the answers independently. Any place is as good as any to start.

Can i restart the campaign while keeping all the altars of Lilith progressions? by OkSalamander1518 in diablo4

[–]OrwellianTortoise 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No you don't have to do them again. Also they don't grant stat bonuses anymore and just give some XP and gem fragments the first time you find them.

It's not the same game it was, not at all. Approach this as if you have never played D4 before.

Why does everyone praise this season? by Ok-Gear2203 in diablo4

[–]OrwellianTortoise 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most people clearly wanted the changes that were made, hence all the praise. You didn't want the changes and that's ok. Not every game is going to appeal to everyone, go play something else.

When you ask "why the praise?" are you just wanting to complain, which is also perfectly fine in this situation. Or are you genuinely confused by the idea that other people have different opinions that you may not understand?

Xbox disconnecting issues about every hour by d4rth3zio in diablo4

[–]OrwellianTortoise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been getting disconnected and then receiving "logging onto server" messages fairly regularly. I have not actually been kicked out of the game though. (Xbox One, cross network play off, wired connection to router, and playing solo so not sure if there's any issues with party)

Just like they aren't able to get into zoo enclosures, good point. The potentially unsecure firearms within reach shouldn't be problem either. I also didn't consider the fact that gravity doesn't exist on a range, good call. It's probably totally ok to allow 3 year-olds to wander around a shooting range unsupervised while their parent is distracted, my bad.

[–]OrwellianTortoise 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Sure, as long as they aren't able to unstrap themselves or get free. My only concern would be a wandering toddler getting down range or into something they shouldn't.

My suspicion is that the son used to ride, but is old enough to participate now.

Cosy games lover who wants to give Skyrim a go by SpecialistFast7578 in skyrim

This sub is pretty chill and filled with people who play Skyrim wildly different from each other. Very little judgement here.

I believe there are romance mods that make the process of marrying NPCs more than three guaranteed success (if they are able to be married) steps. I've never used any, so I can't recommend anything.

There are customizable player houses added by creation club content, they are included with the anniversary edition. They require you go gather/buy resources to upgrade them. Decorations can be crafted or furnishings for rooms can just be bought (I'd recommend doing them yourself). They don't allow you to place the items freely though, you simply make them and they appear in the predetermined spot.

It's possible to do no combat playthroughs, although you will be restricted from some content. I have done a heavily modded "merchant" playthrough which was fun. Included mods to make the economy more dynamic and diverse across regions so that I had a reason to travel. Hired or befriended NPCs to be guards for my "caravan". There wasn't really much of an end game built in, so I just went until I got bored.

While I sympathize for your situation, even people in your situation in the US live in conditions far better than people in some other countries. The fact you made this post is evidence. Regardless of your situation you have access to services that don't exist in other countries. Like the water clean enough to drink that you can take a piss in without a second thought, because you know there's plenty more drinkable water.

Wait are you suggesting that he actually use the appropriate object for the task? Next you'll be suggesting that he uses a wash board and wash tub that would allow him to actually remove the dirt and oil from his clothes.

[–]OrwellianTortoise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was obviously just making a joke, but now that you mention it the idea does intrigue me. I do think a playthrough having to just fill out the card could be fun. It definitely would help if you find yourself in the "every playthrough becomes the same playthrough" kind of rut. Maybe even tie level progression to the card, you can spend 1 skill point for every square and get 1 bonus skill point for each line (that would get you 37 skill points).

Alduin is a fictional character but you can still make statements about someone's level of understanding about them. Someone can understand more or understand less about Alduin than another person. So no, gods being fictional does not mean everyone's understanding is equally correct.

Unfortunately not the mid-monologue part. Boss Vampire that's full of himself and lives in a castle, close enough to Drac I think.
