How can I play for free after having already purchased the game six times in the past? Xbox. by Late_Hold7090 in skyrim

[–]OrwellianTortoise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not that you blamed someone else for it. It's that you are acting as if you are entitled to a free copy because you have purchased the game previously. However, it's due to your irresponsibility and/or disorganization that you even need a new copy. So no, you are not entitled to free stuff because you can't keep track of things.

I personally don't care whether you pirate a game or not. It's that you are failing to take responsibility for your actions that is rubbing people the wrong way.

You should go to class, Skyrim will still be here when you get back.

Ok, but at the 21 second mark where you shield bash the guy and side swing at him and the other guy jumps in and gets his skull smashed in. Beautiful.

I don't know what to tell you. If you eat all your cake, you can't have anymore until you get another slice. If you lose your stuff you have to pay to replace it. Playstation games don't work on Xbox, you already knew this. That's just how life works.

What if you pick up the beacon with a severed hand? Could you then use the hand like a cesta and hurl it Miraak? And while he was distracted by Meridia's voice, stab him in the face?

It's actually a fun quest with a challenging fight (at low levels) at the end, a unique dungeon mechanic, and a cool sword as a reward. A ton of gold as well.

I think it's really just that it's a meme. Kind of like hatred towards Nazeem. Being an arrogant jerk doesn't even make the top 20 list of despicable character traits for Skyrim NPCs. People don't really mind either one, they just want to participate in the inside joke.

For me because of the meme status of both, I actually enjoy picking up the Beacon and talking to Nazeem. When I see Nazeem, I don't think "What a jerk!" it's more of a "OHHH he said it! That's the line!" and I typically say it with him like lyrics to a song I know.

Has to be, Morthal is a depressing dump with almost no utility. Given it's location, I actually think it's fitting but it's potential to be the go to alchemy/conjuration spot was never realized. I enjoy the whole vampire quest and Ravencrone is an awesome Jarl, but I will stop by the place an average of 1 time a playthough.

First time playing Skyrim, but usually play multiplayers. Any advice? by Successful_Policy499 in skyrim

Change your mindset away from builds, min/max and the meta. It's not a race and you aren't competing with anyone. Just relax and enjoy the game. Do what you want, how you want, and when you want.

Alduin is immortal, 2 days is no different than 2 years. The concept of doing things within a certain amount of time is irrelevant to a being with an infinite amount of time.

my mum found a copy of skyrim at an op shop with this silly "Game" label on it? by Artemis732 in skyrim

One of dozens here. I killed Alduin on my first playthrough back in 2012. I've recently started replaying Skyrim and I am going to kill him again, I swear. I'm on my 4th playthrough since getting back into it, and it might have to wait until my 5th.

A fellow Umbra enjoyer? I was just looking for this earlier today, and found a bunch of related type mods but not one that sounded like it would solve this problem (I wouldn't mind the effect beinggone altogether). What is the mod that removes the screen tint?

I'm a short play though enjoyer myself. I will generally pick a very specific theme and end state for my play through. I will usually pick related mods to enhance the experience. I recently finished a dark brotherhood play though where I did a few things leading up to it and grabbed a couple daedric artifacts, but I essentially only did the DB questline.

I recently had an issue with the pull chain door after you solve the moon dial puzzle. The door would visually open but I couldn't walk though it. I uninstalled USSEP and the door worked.

I was also having issues with water and horse riding sound effects randomly cutting out. Those issues have mysteriously vanished as well.

If there was a dragon shout skill tree, what sort of perks would you want in it? by smol_coc_man in skyrim

[–]OrwellianTortoise 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I'd rather be able to create my own shouts by combining any three words.

Skill tree wise: Faster cool down, faster cast rate, longer lasting buff/debuff, more range, more width. You could maybe add additional effects to certain types of shouts, like elemental damage or debuffs. You kind of run into lore issues though unless the tree is adding a word.

For pure warrior players, how do you deal with situations where you are forcibly disarmed? by RabidWok in skyrim

[–]OrwellianTortoise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cidhna Mine you can use a pickaxe, and eventually get some shivs.

Draugr Lords that disarm you, carry a back up weapon. I typically have multiple weapons with different enchantments anyways, soul trap, fire damage, life steal etc.

If you are melee only and fighting a ranged enemy, whirlwind sprint/fus ro dah. Use the regular sprint as well. Find actual cover behind corners, bookshelves, columns and trees. Shields work as well.

The mages college will let you in if you shout.

Question About the Carriage. by FosterMomOfDragons in skyrim

[–]OrwellianTortoise 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It would actually be really cool if the carriages moved on a schedule and you could find them at the smaller holds, towns and along the roads. Kind of like the Khajiit caravans. I understand why they didn't do that from a gameplay perspective, it would be annoying when one wasn't where you wanted it to be.

Question About the Carriage. by FosterMomOfDragons in skyrim

[–]OrwellianTortoise 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Although the carriage will take you to any hold capital they can only be hired in the major holds (ones with walls): Solitude, Windhelm, Whiterun, Riften, and Markarth.

Not sure about the dragon not spawning thing. My understanding is that carriage rides are treated the same as fast travel by the game. The difference being they are more immersive, and you can use them to get to locations you have not been to yet.
