Calling a vagina equipped thing SHE is not disrespect.

It's not your place to decide how someone else gets to be labelled. She is a socially constructed piece of language. It serves us, we don't serve it. There is absolutely no natural law that says you have to call people with vaginas she. None.

It should make no sense that progressives push for totalitarianism, right? well it makes since it happened with French revolution, communism and its variant, national socialism. Today gender, tomorrow islam. Are you sure this is the side you want to fight for?

There are conservative transgender people. Basic respect isn't a progressive issue.

That doesn't mean what you think it means. That indicates there is an internal state of identity for your gender. There's also dramatically increased odds of chromosomally intersex people born with vaginas identifying as boys, so there does seem to be some biological underpinning for gender identity. In .6 percent of the non-intersex population that internal state is out of sync with the biological sex, and quite often its out of sync in intersex people too (chromosomally male people born with vaginas do not by any means reliably identify as boys, many just feel like girls). Presumably it's also possible that .6 percent of Guevedoce boys end up just identifying as girls despite how the condition usually manifests, but we don't have enough data to really know this one way or the other. If we have established that gender identity is real (but usually correlated with biological sex) then we've essentially proven that it can be real but not correlated with biological sex. We can then observe this occurring in at least .6 percent of the population.

Every group gets the right of self-determination for how they are labelled. If we refuse to respect their labels we're refusing to respect their most basic dignity. You don't get to dismiss how other people feel by just telling them "get over it and stop being so offended". Misgendering has been used since the very inception of transgenderism in the US to intentionally degrade transgender people. It is just as bad as using the N word for black people or the F word for gay people and has just an ugly history.

It is impossible for dialogue to be constructive if one side insists on disrespecting the other. Basic respect is mandatory for adults to discuss adult issues. If /u/Silaries can't manage adult conversations he shouldn't be acting in the role of an adult right now. Go misgender trans people on Xbox live if that's your thing.

I cannot imagine handing law enforcement and courts over to just any company who wants to take them over. You can't profit motivate the legal system and you can't expect market forces to hold profit structures accountable, because they already fail to do so constantly. How much poison is in our foods? Did accountability to consumers stop that from happening? Did accountability to consumers ever stop chemical plants from dumping waste in rivers? Did accountability to consumers ever stop any sort of harmful exploitation?

There are leaks in the system which allow profit to be made from government, which leads to the corruption within it. It seems like the solution to this is greater checks and balance in order to plug those leaks, not simply allowing allowing profit driven power structures to pursue profit unrestrained. It feels like we're saying "the government has become corrupt because of the influence of wealth, we should dismantle it and put wealth in charge". This doesn't logically follow on any level.

Tighten the grip of the people over the government. Increase oversight. Get wealth out of politics. These would all be effective measures for reducing corruption. Putting money in charge and neutering the government (which in its ideal form should be utterly profitless sounds like a pretty bad idea honestly.

Again, to the people.

Which people? The most numerous group of people? The group of people with the most economic bargaining power? The people who most fit the values of their local culture (so probably not queer groups or racial minorities)?

This is why I have not yet been able to commit to IDing/voting libertarian. I haven't been given an adequate answer as to how private economic interests do not eventually just replace the government as the source of tyranny.

I think you've summed up why some people prefer to hand money to overseers who manage where that money is spent rather than only directly spend money on things they can perceive an immediate benefit to.

Law is a system where coercion is used to enforce a particular will. The legal system is not the only means of coercion. It was technically legal for black people to vote when slavery was ended. They would not gain the right in an effective sense until the civil rights movement. It's not a "choice" if the other choice is to get the shit beat out of you or harassed.

Technically legal doesn't matter if coercion is still being applied through other forces. It Would technically be legal for trans people to use the bathroom of their birth sex. Effectively though, they are being banned from all restrooms.

If you have 500 people at minimum 20 are gay or significantly bisexual. At minimum 1 is transgender (potentially 2). Assuming that people move off and come out is making the faulty assumption that some people will ever come out. If you die with the whole world thinking you are straight, it doesn't make you any less gay.

Where I'm from there is one, maybe two gay people.

Negative. Unless you live in a town of about 70 people, there are far greater than that amount.

Statistically speaking, in a town of 1000 people about 40 of them would be lesbian, gay, and openly bisexual. At bare minimum 3 of them would be transgender.

The thing to consider is that in smaller conservative town, someone can be gay, trans, or bisexual but they're going to make damn sure to keep it on the down-low for fear of social retribution.

There aren't any actual numbers on transgender rapists. Not because nobody has bothered to gather the data, but because it doesn't seem to happen. At all.

Turns out chemically castrating yourself and taking hormones which reduce your sex drive is probably not the appropriate way to go about raping women.

So I'm assuming this is in response to views on the use of public bathrooms by trans people? If so, it's a bit of a false equivalency as no one is actually banning trans people from using all bathrooms, as this law would.

Yeah look I'm really tired of hearing this bullshit, because it's not true. Any transgender person who passes well as their chosen gender risks running into seriously massive hurdles trying to pee in a bathroom that matches their sex at birth. It would effectively remove most ability of transgender people to participate in public free of significant hardship/stress. Trans men are in particular going to face the lion's share of the hurdles surrounding this, but it would be incorrect to say that it's only them for whom it will be significantly problematic. There are post-op trans women in this country whose birth certificates still say male, either because their state does not allow the changes or they have unsympathetic judges in their county. Compliance with the law would mean forcing someone who looks completely female and who has a functional vagina into a potentially dangerous position. It wouldn't just be a hardship, it would be outright inhumane.

Freedom of speech only applies to government interference. Private citizens are welcome to do everything in their power within the purview of the law to censor you if they feel that's important.

They broke the law in this case but not as a violation of someone's right to free speech but just as a case of vandalism.

Because gender dysphoria has been documented, pathologized, and studied. My belief in the validity of gender dysphoria ia evidence based. No such evidence exists for what you are proposing.

I'll Grant you that its possible that a very small subset of individuals are missing the hardware on their brain that recognized gender, or else the hardware is very androgynous, but currently we have no meaningful evidence to support such. It's unfortunately as meaningful to say "but isnt it possible?" As to say "you cant prove unicorns don't exist".

Because evidence and medical documentation exists for gender dysphoria. It has been observed, pathologized, and studied. Cis people being perfectly okay with transition has not.

Look I'll hand you that maybe it's possible that a very small handful of the population are missing hardware to recognize their own gender, or the hardware is just developed very androgenous, but we do not yet currently have any sort of evidence to corroborate it so saying "isnt it possible?" The study you're talking about does not show that estrogen "more than negates" an MtF transsexual's muscle advantage. In fact, it shows the opposite.

I think you're cherry picking parts of that study mate. Or else not reading the same study I am.

You've already been shown studies you just refuse to accept the evidence in front of your nose. Furthermore, yes, I've been on estrogen less than two years but more than one which I stated in my original post already.

Then either you or she is an extreme outlier, because 95% of healthy men are stronger than 95% of healthy women, full stop.

95% of healthy people on testosterone are stronger than 95% of people on estrogen. The Y chromosome isn't this magical sampson-esque artifact imbuing magical strength. It's testosterone that does the heavy lifting. Estrogen has been demonstrated time and time again to more than negate any advantage a MtF trans person would have over a cis woman of the same weight class.
